So who will get the new polymorph for 500 gems?

What does 500 gems equate to in Crate cost? $200? $300? That is.... actually I'm at a loss. It seems they've intentionally released this as kind of exclusive item for heavy spenders. I considered trying for it before knowing the price. There's no way I'm going to open a pile of crown crates as big as my house to get this thing. HARD pass.

Stay safe and enjoy the journey 😊

PS. ZOS stop the micromanagement of the green tree 🥺

    ZOS are completely shameless.

Anyone who buys this doesn't have a right to complain about performance issues or problems in the game. They're taking in money off something that took someone maybe a day max to do.

They're clearly not investing that money into the game as performance is worse than ever. The product is worse than ever. Every patch has more bugs than the last.

But while they keep making money off little polymorphs they have less incentive to sort their game out. Like why would you if you're bringing in cash elsewhere from people throwing hundreds of pounds on lootboxes.

And then once they have everything they want, throwing more at them HOPING TO GET DOUBLES so they can get gems to buy these items. Like that's actually crazy.

And if people think endeavours are the answer... I think you'll find that ZOS will make more money. Nobody gives something for free. What happens when you earn gems, then something cool that you like comes out, and you're 70 gems away, but it goes in 4 days? Well, people will buy more crates, hope they get doubles (again, this is crazy) and try to get 70 gems.

It's not just ZOS, a lot of companies shove these loot boxes down your throat. I don't mind a store where things have a listed price. I'd prefer to earn stuff in game of course.

But this game has a subscription model that without membership, the game is pretty annoying to play, a cash shop AND lootboxes.

The gaming industry is a joke right now. Consumer is nowhere near the heart of what most companies do.

500 Gems? No way. I like the polymorph, but I don't like it that much. If they would have just offered it on the crown store at a reasonable price then I may have purchased it, but if they want to be greedy, they lost this sale.

Yeah, that's what I don't get. They already had the assets for a male (or non-gendered) character skin, so why not use it as an alternative?

There is no such thing as male spriggan. Spriggan is always female and must be always female.

For my own (expensive) interest I bought and opened Wild Hunt Crates and extracted almost everything (bar one furnishing) today until I had 500 gems.

Bearing in mind I have opened a few of these crates before, it took 38 crates, pretty much all of the 14,000 crowns that I bought (approximately £70).

This is ridiculous and way more expensive than it should be. Please listen to our feedback ZOS @ZOS_GinaBruno because this is extortinate.

Can't wait for the Bloodroot Spriggan to be priced at 1200 gems like a Radiant Apex

I am actually waiting for red variant, but 1200 gems sounds not very realistic :D
I'm still not sure if I will want Bloodroot Senche, but I have 3 other mounts who would look nice with Bloodroot Spriggan polymorph. Hopefully designers will make new nice voice for this polymorph :'(
I didn't pay a cent, called buying with gold

I use the same option, but it's not less valuable. Don't forget - somebody else had to pay real money to get you all those crates.

I buy any item if I feel the need to use it, so if this green Spriggan had nice voice, I would have bought it already and we would all have in-depth showcase video :) Polymorphs enhance my combat experience, replacing ordinary character voices with new unique voices.

I still think about current Spriggan, cause I read that apparently it has no voice in combat at all. So far my most quiet combat polymorph is Wraith of Crows. Having polymorph option for totally silent combat is both weird and curious... Can somebody who owns Sylvan Spriggan please post nice showcase video?

"Low-price" version of this green theme: Pumpkin Spectre, who has nice creepy voice

    lol...

You know how in Skyrim you could just put a bucket on someone's head to prevent them from seeing what you were up to and becoming hostile or whatever?

Well now, thanks to your post @Fischblut , I'm forever going to think of those Spectre polys as "Spriggans that someone jammed a pumpkin over the head" polymorphs, haha. I can't unsee it now! :D

But yeah, that's a good point you raise; someone paid for those Crowns with real money. Buying CS stuff with gold doesn't bypass the real cost of things, despite what many seem to think. So no matter how you come by the in-game currencies, ZOS is getting paid in the end. People buying crazily-priced things encourages their pricing schemes, and there's no way around that short of just not buying overpriced stuff. :/

To investigate notions of financial harm, we conducted a secondary analysis of six open access datasets of loot box surveys, aggregating the freely available data. The combined dataset comprised of 7,767 loot box purchasers, and our analysis established that a disproportionate amount of revenue is derived from high-level spenders. For example, around 5% of loot box purchasers in our dataset (those spending more than around £70 / $100 per month, or local equivalent) generate around half of industry revenue from loot boxes. Moreover, almost one third of these top 5% of spenders fall into the ‘problem gambler’ category.

Conversely, there is no evidence that higher loot box spend is correlated with higher earnings. Our research therefore demonstrates that games developers, unwittingly or not, appear to be generating outsized loot box profits from at-risk individuals (these are likely to include both people with gambling problems or problematic patterns of video gaming) – but not from wealthy gamers.
    Source: https://www.begambleaware.org/sites/default/files/2021-03/Gaming_and_Gambling_Report_Final.pdf

Because a small portion of players have an outsized impact on the profits a game makes, all that matters is snaring that mere 5% of players. It doesn't matter if a majority of players object, especially if they continue to play the game anyway. The only thing that will kill something like this in an MMO is a mass player exodus because MMOs at least require something of a player base in order to survive. Even then, the game could go on "maintenance mode" to capture that 5% of spenders and sustain itself with a poor player population. So long as a developer turns the right players into payers, they win. This is why some call current industry practices "predatory" - a heavy focus is put on "whaling" instead of mass market appeal because that mass appeal is no longer needed to finance a game when it has thousands of dollars of macrotransactions in its cash shop.

Asking 500 Crown Gems is abhorrent.

It looks really cool, I wanted it when I saw the datamine image, and I'm genuinely happy for anyone that managed to obtain it. However, I cannot justify spending what would likely be a significant sum of real money on crowns to buy crown crates in the hope I might find sufficient duplicate items or convertable consumables to exchange for crown gems to allow me to obtain it.

Had it appeared in the Crown Store, without any of this ridiculous 'limited time availability' nonsense that still persists, I could calculate how much real money I would need to spend in order to buy it and make an informed and rational decision on that basis.

    Bit deflated, tbh.

If you stop looking at items in the crown store as being "must-haves", then it's not a problem. This type of item is there for very longterm players who have amassed piles of eso+ crowns and have nothing left to use them on. So they get a daft little graphic thing as a reward. Better that than something which affects gameplay.

If there are some people desperate enough for pixels that they buy and recycle crates solely for the morph, that's their own bad judgement. Just say no.

No, it's a problem. It's great that you don't care about these things, but many people who do want to collect items like this (especially since the Polymorphs that you can earn in game are mostly lackluster) are basically told to either spend or dream. I understand that you do not care for these items but I do ask that you think about those of us who do care and want to RP. Regardless it makes no sense to price a polymorph more than your own game, expansions and DLC.

    ^This

People who defend clown crates and the clown store in general as "iTs JuST CosMEtiC" forget that cosmetics are a huge part of mmos. Standing out and looking nice is a part of that and zos knows that. Hence the predatory gambling mechanics. The lengths people go to defned these scummy tactics always astounds me.

I'm a fan of Jim's video ripping into the "it's just cosmetic" excuse. Like yeah, it's totally just cosmetic so that's why video games never changed their graphics past the 8-bit era, right? It's just cosmetic. Replace everything in the game with stick figures or cubes. I mean, it worked for Minecraft, right?

That seems like a really bad argument. There are plenty of ways to stand out in the game for free. You will stand out more by doing your own custom outfit than by wearing polymorph that looks identical to all who wear it, so this isn't really the thread for grinding that axe.

The 8-bit vs modern graphics argument is really bad. When you make an argument that extreme, it is not convincing. It is just hyperbole. It isn't like there is some separate graphics engine for crown store items.

You say that as if the stuff you get for free in game even compares to clown store / clown crates. Sure you CAN get a mount for free, but it does not compare to anything you have to spend real life money on. You mention that it's just a polymorph and you look identical to everyone wearing it, true but let's swap out the polymorph with any motif or apex mount in the clown store and see how far your logic carries you. The mental gymnastics people like you go through to defend these clown crates is truly astounding.

I do not mind supporting this game with ESO+ and purchasing extra crowns but I will not be taken advantage of. This is taking advantage of people who genuinely enjoy this game. If you can afford it more power to you. But when people buy this at this price you are supporting greed. This same greed is evident throughout US economy. This is suppose to be entertainment. I hope US politicians start looking into this type of practice. Until then it's a hard no from me, like I said I don't mind supporting the game but I do draw a line. We as a block of gamers actually do have the power if you stop and think about it.

This is my problem right here. People in this world equate spending money with self worth. So they just throw money away for the sake of throwing it away. But ZOS keeps raising prices (this single pixel puppet costs over $200 USD) and investing less effort in the quality and maintenance of their game.

Lately it seems they invest more in silencing discontent on their community forums then they do on making a quality product to prop up their gambling micro transaction store.

To see Elder Scrolls dragged down to this level has really affected me on a personal level.

$200-$250 USD sounds about right. Anytime I want a 400 gem mount I buy 21k crowns and usually have 400 gems after about 16 or 17 crates. I think one time it took me like 18 crates because I started with like 3 gems. So i could definitely see some people needing to spend closer to $300 to get 500 gems, depending.

In my defense, when someone comes to the forums and says they are sitting on 3700 gems, its a pretty safe assumption that said person has bought a massive amount of crown crates, and the most obvious way they acquired them was by using RL money. It was also meant to be humorous.
