It's an mmo it's all about earning new weapons and gear. Stop crying I don't care about doing VMA again, what I do care about is the shocking changes to healing. Listen to anyone that plays PvP. Those changes will not do anything. Stacked healing in groups is the problem and damage mitigation. Server performance needs more love then ever so right now changes to old weapons I earned years ago are least of my problems.
The only thing new about these will be the addition of one word.

Just because you don't like the way something is doesn't necessarily make it wrong...

    Earn it.

IRL'ing for a while for assorted reasons, in forum, and in game.

Imagine you saved up money for 3 years to buy yourself a car. Now someone steals your car and demands you to pay the same amount you bought it for. You would NOT like that right @ZOS_BrianWheeler?

So why for the love of God must you people think like this when it comes to your players? Just why?

I doubt they will lose any noticeable number of players. The number of players willing to suffer through vma and vdsa is a very small proportion of the player base. Given the number of times the same group has been screwed so far, if they haven’t left yet, they probably won’t leave over this either.

The decision is just one more of a million unforced errors that makes what could have been an unparalleled masterpiece into a merely “good” and oftentimes frustrating game. It makes me shake my head.

Regarding the changes to Maelstrom and Master weapons it's really insulting for someone like me, who has spent about 4 months farming that arena non stop. It's like telling someone to go back to high school for a "perfected diploma" 20 years after he graduated, and take the same courses and exams like in 1999. I would be OK if they kept the current weapons as they are, but added one more difficulty tier for the perfected ones. For example have a scroll at the start of Maelstrom arena that removes all the sigils and adds 50% to boss HP, and also add an extra set of achievements for that difficulty settings. But having to re-grind the exact same content is simply dumb.

Guys enough with the real life examples, there are enough in game examples:

Imagine if Immortal Redeemer was made to work in Normal Asylum Sanctorium and they made a new title for vAS+2, and everyone who got Immortal Redeemer had to re-run vAS+2 for the achievement they already earned.

Doesn't really make sense for the VMA and DSA weapons to not be upgraded. Every existing weapon was earned on veteran, and as such they should be upgraded. Some people's weapons were even earned BEFORE YOU REMOVED THE 1pc STAT LINES FROM THEM.

There is no reason people should have to go and RE-GRIND the same content they've already run dozens of times. You're creating a unnecessary grind that is going to serve no purpose other than pissing people off. Not to mention the transmute crystals people have already spent upgrading their existing weapons - with the potential changes to impen, PVP players may be in a position where they need to trait change some or all of their existing armor pieces. Unless transmutes are going to be made easier to obtain, there should be some sort of accommodation on zenimax's behalf by way of granting free stones. As someone who just transferred from console where I have thousands of transmutes to PC where I am just barely scraping together the necessary transmutes to run my gear sets, this update is poised to set me back WEEKS or maybe even MONTHS of grinding. With the combat/pvp performance taken into consideration, why would I even bother?

Your current VMA and DSA Weapons will not be automatically upgraded to Perfected versions.

    Problem:
Essentially giving away free maelstrom weapons on normal mode gives new players no sense of accomplishment and doesnt make them any better players, it wont fix players with low damage. Secondly forcing intermediate/veteran players to refarm very old content (and for alot of us, very unenjoyable because of lag, bugs and very broken RNG) is a bitter pill to swallow.

    Solution:
I'm guessing your reasoning behind this is to lessen the gap between some DPS, my suggestion would be an in game tutorial/quests/rewards when players start gaining CP levels, for example:

Achieve max lvl50/CP, get a free 10million health trial dummy and a "Beginner DPS Quest" to do 10-20k dps where the focus is on having the right SKILLS and a ROTATION. This encourages you to keep up 2 dots (backbar endless hail/blockade) and use a spammable (frontbar class skill), light attack inbetween skills and use ultimates.

Achieve 160CP, get free craftable sets (hundings or julianos) and an "Intermediate DPS Quest" which teaches players to equip 5pc sets, get monster sets, use appropriate food, set attributes, learn more about setting CP so they can do 20-30k.

Achieve 300CP to get "some reward" and an "Advanced DPS Quest" to do 30-40k. Use spell/weapon power potions.

I assume that "casual" or "low apm" players hate to be taught what to do by other players, and "elite" or "experienced" players have little patience with those types of players, so having a mandatory quest in game would solve all these problems in at least informing players in one way of being a better DPS.

    Extra:
The problem here is with Tanks and Healers, It would be really cool if you could make dummies attack players, to teach them about AOE, interrupts, heavy attacks from enemies. There are sooooo many players who have never even noticed the "interruptable" attack animation.

I have only made it through the first 11 pages of this thread, but I want to make sure I add my voice to the overall dissent over the VMA/VDSA weapons.

VDSA: is a slog, its too long and uninteresting.

VMA: People here that have done this arena for years forget how hard it is the get through the first time for most people.
I only did it finally a year ago, I remember how hard it is to learn. It took me months to finally beat it. I can now do it in about an hour, because I learned it and know it now. I even have my flawless.

These 2 arenas DO NOT need to be made harder. They are hard enough for first timers. When it literally takes months for the first clear for most people, thats enough.

However I vehemently agree with others that not upgrading perfected weapons is an insult to the time and effort we all put into learning and running that content. I have one masters bow for my main, I have 4 vMA bows, 4 vMA infernos, 2 vMA lightening and various other random weaps no one seems to care about that I save because they are such a pain to get.

I dont want to re-run VDSA ever. I do want to run some of my other characters through VMA eventually, but right now I want to concentrate on other aspects of the game that I worked hard to get those VMA and VDSA weapons for, not repeat old content over and over just because.

Please reconsider upgrading current vMA aquired weaps to perfected so that we are rewarded for our past effort instead of negating it.

Being a PvP-oriented player who hates doing pve stuff like arenas or trials to grind perfected weapons and such I totally hate the idea of farming them again, while having outdated weak trash on hands now. Give us an option to buy that *** for alliance points or telvars then.

been playing since the closed alpha tests 6 years ago, eso+ for years, and for all the good and fun this games is; some decisions dont make any sense. endless grinding to get vDSA and vMA weapons just to have them nerfed then, years later reintroduce the set bonuses but being forced to re-grind years old content. it gets harder and harder to keep playing. its like they want to push their old player base away.

So, I have 18 characters, most of them have MA weapons because (because the bow doesn't drop that often for whatever reason and I gave up on trying to get one for a few of them)...

Why would I want to run vMA around 200 times - that's being optimistic considering the RNG - to get weapons I already earnt? this makes absolutely no sense. You guys should be emailing us the weapons we already earnt, but decided to upgrade because wanted to upgrade to 'perfected' as it is a new concept. What's going to happen next? going to add perfected crag drops? perfected every other trial that is not SS or CR so we have to regrind all that stuff too?

    Seriously.

Making people run this content again for the proposed "perfected" weapons and, thus, making our current gold vma/vdsa weapons useless shows a lack of understanding in why we play this bugged, yet lovely, game at all. This is just another move that causes us to rethink whether or not we should keep playing this game.

Please, if you are going to do this, upgrade our current weapons. We know this can be done. Some of us remember back when these weapons were nerfed, so yes, they can be upgraded.

Reminder that the areans are affected by the current crappy desync, lag, and disconnects.

So, a couple of points that people have expressed that are worth highlighting...

    1. NMA can be run on a level 3 toon. I’ve literally made level 1 sets of training armor and popped an XP scroll and power leveled my last 10 or so new toons this way. Seems silly that I’ll have a current vMA equivalent weapon on a low level toon that can’t even access a full rotation worth of skills. I guess if it helps raise the floor even a little bit, then it was better than those proposed LA/HA changes.

    2. I see a lot of people saying “It’s not hard, just go refarm it.” To those people, you’re right. It’s not hard. Many of us can beat it in like 30 minutes now. The problem is still that during the last Orsinium celebration event, I managed to acquire 1 inferno staff for the 70 something weapons that dropped. The forums are literally filled with stories about the garbage RNG and many people have had even worse luck than I. This isn’t about the difficulty of farming it, it’s the time between our regularly scheduled events, work, RL, and of course working up the improvement/transmute stuff all over again. All so we can clear the EXACT same content.

I love running vMA, vDSA, vBRP, and any of the vDLC content. I also have more time on my hands than others with busier work schedules, family, or other RL obligations. I may be able to run vMA ad nauseam, but others may not. It’s those people we need to think about before simply saying “Do it again. lol.”

Even if people aren't busy, forcing them to spend another 100+ hours running content they've already spent 100+ hours running is a good way to get people to quit your game.

If they want to introduce new weapons, they need to introduce new content. Nobody likes being forced to re-run the same content they've run hundreds of times already.

Why does everyone feel punished about not being upgraded on their VMA weapons? No one is taking them away from you. They are just adding the upgraded versions into the game. Also, they give the opportunity to use vma weapons for 99% of playerbase who can't beat vma. I applaud this move to reduce the dps gap between top players and the base which everyone is talking about. I actually wrote a while ago with the suggestion to let people buy vma weapons. This upcoming decision is actually much better.

I mean, if "Flawless Conqueror" and "Stormproof" were being adding to normal Maelstrom that example would make sense...

This is more like adding a deathless or trifecta title to Dragonstar Arena (which has never had one, and should because that would be fun) and everyone outraged that they don't have the new title unlocked retroactively because they met the requirements once 4 years ago.
