Your current VMA and DSA Weapons will not be automatically upgraded to Perfected versions.

Is there any chance that there will be a token system similar to the Undaunted keys for monster shoulder pieces?
It would help a lot if you could trade in 5 vMA tokens for weapon of your choice with a random trait.

    Absolutely nonsense!

I don’t want to farm vDSA or vMSA again for all my chars. Endless hours counting, transmutes, golden stuff... No! Just simply no! Everyone who is clearing this on Normal get the same stuff as me now?

    Ridiculous!

    This is just crap...

Many Players spend Hundrets of Hours in the buggy vDSA/vMSA to gain that weapons on veteranmode. The weapons was nerfed a few months ago, too. Now this should be all gone?

I am hoping that amazon releases New World very fast ^^

So, weapons weren’t even guaranteed back in the day.... but now you guys aren’t going to upgrade the weapons we do have because you want us to go through the most boring part of this game? I hate vma and haven’t done it in over a year. I have all my weapons and I don’t want some new player to come in and do normal and have the exact same weapon as me. When back then you weren’t guaranteed a drop. So multiple runs and no drops at all. But now this? You guys should upgrade the weapons if ppl have already done it on vet. There’s no point in having to refarm the gear that we have worked for so long in the game...

I think its a bit sad, that one horrible decision oversheadows the good sounding stuff in the post.
I like the PvP heal nerf, its a "they lisened" thing.
I like the Valkyn Skoria change
I like that werewolfs get buffed
I love that my not so good friend can now get a maelstrom weapon.
I abhor that I have to refarm vMA again.

There is absolutely no reason that we should have to refarm vDSA/vMA weapons. If I remember correctly, these weapons used to have an extra stat bonus until it was removed. For that matter, vDSA weapons used to drop on normal. So, instead of shortchanging the veteran player base, how about getting it right the first time?

I'm actually looking forward to having a reason to get in there again. Back when I farmed this, I remember enjoying the break from group stuff, while doing something that was not mind numbingly easy.

However, it would be a good idea with either the token system some already proposed in this thread, or atleast a "double drop" arena event when this lands.

    "Listened", to whom? Zerglings?

Because noone else benefits from this change. It's a small nerf to big groups and a big nerf to small groups (and solo). Effectively, a relative buff to large groups, which was the last thing they needed.

So my VmA weapon which used to have additional stats on it before you removed them is now going to have them added again expect I need to farm them all again because in your mind that makes sense? Zos really is the land of great ideas.

@WrathOfInnos while I do agree with you to some extent, there are some problems.

    1. It makes running vMA up till the patch useless. Me? I am super discouraged running from running it, and that's after the last 2 weeks I was doing it twice a week (because I was enjoying my warden that much, that I was running it on her and on my sorc).

    2. By many eyes, if in zos's vision, normal should drop maelstrom weapons, and vet should drop perfected, why shouldn't all weapons that dropped in vet be perfected?

    3. The lags and bugs make vMA especially pleasant (sarcasm) especially for those who barely finished it.

    4. The rng issue. I mean. Yep. It means that people will feel "forced" as the silly beings we are, to run it again. And if rng is bad, and hell it is bad, and people will take at least 50 runs to get back the reward they feel like they already should have gotten, it is f***ed up. And the current state of the game is not really motivating to run it.

The only, only way that not upgrading current weapons to perfected is to fix the lag, and reduce the grind hard. Good grind reduction will be to let player chose the weapon he gets upon completion.

    @zvavi Fair points.

    1. Agree completely, I probably would have run vMA tonight to try my luck at a Succession Inferno, but now I'm definitely going to be waiting until Greymoor before I do any Maelstrom farming. Slightly disappointing in that sense, but I'm still glad we know about this early, not in a few weeks.

    2. Yes, I think myself and all the other players here would be fine with upgrades, but realistically I never expected it to happen. From the dev's point of view they are giving us a new and improved piece of gear in exchange for us participating in content that is largely dead these days, if we didn't have to do anything to receive it then what would be the point (I'm guessing they simply wouldn't be added at all)?

This is actually very similar to the way motifs are added in trials and dungeons 3-6 months after the content initially releases. By this point fewer people are running them, and it gives everyone an incentive to go back. We certainly don't act like ZOS owes us a motif for every run we'd completed prior to that point, the reward is given to those that complete it from that moment forward (or again there would be no point from a player engagement perspective).

    3. Yes, the lags and bugs have made ESO unplayable for a month and a half. All of my groups have cancelled raids at this point. The success of Greymoor 100% relies on fixing whatever issues were introduced in Harrowstorm.

    4. Yep, RNG sucks. It's nowhere near as bad as it used to be when these arenas were first added, but it's still discouraging to not know how many runs it will take to get the desired drop (and theoretically could be infinite). Hopefully we'll see some type of coffer or currency system implemented alongside the perfected weapons. Especially for Maelstrom, since Dragonstar at least allows trading between 4 group members.

Anyway, I hope people won't feel too forced to go back into Maelstrom if they don't enjoy it. We'll find out Monday, but I highly doubt the difference will be large. Personally, I'm just glad they listened and are giving us the versions of these arena weapons that we've been requesting since Summerset, even if they're not handed out like candy to everyone on day 1.

As a player since Beta of Eso i have to say,
    please NO.
i understand your thoughts behind this, so we have to redo the content.
and for Vdsa i would like this, but for Vmsa i dont.
it took me so many runs to get my bow and my destruction staffs and now new players get them in normal? And at the top of this my vet gear is downgraded?

please change your mind about this.

IF the vet version remains the same and reward better weapons then This had better be a fkn horrible joke man. I mean you change every other set we have in our bags or on our hands when you adjust sets. This is a real slap in the face of people who have ground that place hard for the items and now have them do it again. Im guessing that is the intent. To force people to do content they were hoping to never do again. For your viewing pleasure?

Going to change the achievements too I assume? Why not.

Really hope this cops some serious backlash.

I am hoping this is the case, that Wheeler is just trolling the community knowing that they will back down so that people have a rebound positive reaction to distract them from some other horrible thing they have planned that everyone will hate since hey, at least we get the gear we worked hard to farm upgraded to the level its intended to be.

However, they still nerfed the crap out of Iceheart despite the outcry, just less than planned - that was more of a balance thing so I hope this is a different situation. Either way, this is just plain sadistic. Earning gear in this game has become completely meaningless. If this happens I think I'm done. I already unsubbed and did not buy Greymoor due to the persistent and unaddressed technical issues. I will buy back in if they fix them, but if I have to refarm those arenas again to fill out 12 toons, some of which still don't have those weapons in the first place, forget it. My trust in the game and its developers will be dead, as nothing I have achieved or earned in it is secure.

Ok, let me do the math really quick...

For simplicity lets also only focus on one type of weapon here...
Across all my Mag chars i own about 20 vMA inferno staffs all transmuted to BiS traits with various enchants for differents situations like Berserk for most content, Prismatic for MoL etc., magicka absorb, fire damage and shock damage. I farmed all of them so i don't have to constantly shift gear from char to char or reenchant constantly. And it took me years to build this collection.

So lets be optimistic and say the drop rate for an vMA inferno is about 1/10 since im not 100% sure how the dual wield/ sword and board drops work. So that would bring me to an expected amount of 20*10=200 runs to regain all that EQ and have it BiS again. And lets also say I can keep a decent speed which including loading screens and reset time would be around 35 min. That gives me a 200*35 min/60 min = 116 h 40 min as an expected time to farm it.

Also 8/9 will be not BiS traits and will take me 50 transmute crystals to get them to the right trait: 20*(8/9)*50= 889 transmute crystals.

Additionally doing these runs does not only come at cost of time but also requires resourses to complete:
    • Potions + food + repairs: i would estimate the cost per run at about 10k-15k gold at current PC EU prices (10k for calculation): 200*10.000=2.000.000g
    • Enchants for weapons: 2.5k for most enchants and 25k for a prismatic: 15*2.500+5*25.000= 162.500g
    • Upgrade costs to gold: 1 rosin = 2.500 gold; 20*8*2.500= 400.000g
Adding all that up brings me to 2.000.000+162.000+400.000= 2.562.000 gold

That brings me the summary: Replacing my 20 vMA infernos to new BiS would cost me: 116h and 40min of my lifetime, 889 transmute crystals that need to be framed ( ok some of them will drop while farming, but still u need space to store them, since its not geodes), and a cost of around 2.5M gold .
I have framed all the vMA stuff i own, and i own much more then just the vMA infernos, at the same or even higher requirements as will be required in the future for the perfected, since, lets face it, power creep is a thing...
I am fine with the introduction of perfected weapons, but WE deserve a free upgrade for the stuff we farmed at the same requirements! I have been playing this game ever since beta and have been subscribed for most of this time, but I am not sure, if i would stick around after this crap. This would just be a big slap in the face to all your players, especially the most dedicated once!!!

Absolutely this. @ZOS_BrianWheeler: We have grinded those weapons, it was a pain and having to redo everything at the same difficulty, just so becuz you decided it, is a slap in the face. Your endgame community is already quite triggered by performance issues and more and more loses trust in your dev team because of ideas like the LA/HA changes (yes, you took it back, but needing players to prove that it would not do what you intended it to is a flaw that people link to you) - you really think this was a wise idea? Look at all these posts here, here is your community's oppinion on that idea...

Valkyn Skoria, for example, now gives Spell Penetration rather than Max Health as this is a damage-based set.
Does PvP dictate again to how PvE should be? Because it has no sense to get penetration from this set while your CP and tank/healer skills already do that. You always can get penetration, but health?
Don't tell us that "this is damage set, so it should have only damage features", we have already 5-pieces sets for that. I always thought about monster sets as some unique stuff, that could give you some interesting bonuses. Standardization will ruin this uniqueness. (or, ofcourse, you're going to create the Scoria's clone in the future)
We hope these updates enhance your day to day adventures in ESO
15k HP isn't cool, you know...

I mean there is enchantments that can do like 4500 oblivion damage. I understand it might be very important for something.
I just don't see the point in obsessing to have these weapons. They are like a luxury sure people want to get them but they don't need them and can do without them.

The point is that some people already spent hundreds of hours farming those. Some of those at a time when you couldn't change an item's trait, so you had to get the right weapon in the right trait. Then they took away the extra effect. Now they're saying everyone who runs normal arenas can get the same weapons as the people who ran vet before.

I would have zero objections to a new arena with better weapons. Regrinding to keep at top level is normal and actually good for the game. But it should be tied to new content. What ZOS are doing is slapping players in the face and telling them to get their butts back in 5 year old content to farm the same stuff they already farmed before.
