GREYMOOR DESYNCS!

The fact that there hasn't been any clear communication from the devs about this problem is what is very worrisome for most people. The truth is, the game is completely UNPLAYABLE with the "desync" that seems to be going on. Last night we reset our vSunspire instance 12 times and only got one "okay" instance where adds weren't doing 360s and blastbones would fire...

There are people quitting in droves, and many people on my trial progression groups have refunded or don't plan on buying Greymoor because of this performance. People were even joking last night that they'd rather have to raid with only 10-20 fps again then have to deal with these bad instances.

These instances seem to get no better on the PTS. In fact, the performance seemed even worse which is very disheartening. I know that you have stated you are working on it, but to what extent? We as players, are very frustrated about the games state of performance. Getting this issue fixed should be the NUMBER 1 PRIORITY.

What I ask, and think we deserve, is for communication at the very least. Give us a weekly update on the status of the issue, something to let us know that you are putting every resource available to get this issue corrected. The game would be in such a great state if just this one bug could get fixed.

    PLEASE SAVE US ZOS

They're not even focused on it. Probably already behind on getting some of the things working for the expansion from trying before. At most you'll get the same kind of "we're working on it" with maybe different verbiage to get your hopes up and keep stringing you along.

Probably best to just move on and not even bother to take the energy to come here and check but so far, it's the only game where I get excited about trying a new build, and then I remember it doesnt matter so long as the performance is what it is. Outside of that, I've pretty much have moved on, and playing other games, and having fun. Just a matter if time until one captures that build and PVP curiosity to where I stop looking back.

The lag in cyro today is game breaking again today. Some days it seems to be slightly better, but today it's really bad again. Is this just server load doing this? Does ZOS just need to buy more server capacity?

PC EU is apparently getting one Soon™ as they announced maintenance to prep for it. Since it was an out of cycle maintenance, and they don't normally tell us when they upgrade the servers, my guess it will be very soon. I doubt that this will help with Cyrodiil, though. That is not a capacity problem. It should help with PVE and Overland disconnects, logging in, etc.

As players, how do we determine if it's a server capacity issue or not?

The timing of things sure makes it seem like it's load related. (prime time and weekends performance drops)

As players, we speculate. However, they have said enough about Cyrodiil performance in the past for people to understand that they are already close to maxed in terms of the ability of hardware to resolve performance problems. Essentially, performance gains, and losses, in Cyrodiil are very likely due to their software, or how they use it, not because they lack the hardware.

Outside of Cyrodiil, things are different. Here, we know that additional hardware can relieve some server congestion. Again, this is based on what they have said and done over the years. There are likely still problems with server software, and how they use it, and I am sure that sometimes adding hardware does not fix that. Still, if it is just "too many people in Auridon", then yes, all indications are that they can fix that with more server hardware. My understanding is that this is basically what they are doing for EU right now. EU just has too many people in the game outside of Cyrodiil, so they are adding capacity so that they can have more people in the PVE zones concurrently.

I am guessing that this is when PC EU gets the new hardware upgrade, so that might explain why no PC patch. (Besides the fact that most fixes are going into Greymoor at this point) No guesses on the consoles, which seem due for one.

Just got off my 72 hour ban for "spreading conspiracy theories."

The truth is, 8 weeks have gone by, and the only updates we have had on this subject have been the exact same as they were from week 1 of update 25.

    "We're investigating."

Can you be more vague? Think we don't deserve to be kept in the loop for progress made towards a solution?

I just don't know anymore. All I know is if they perma-ban me from the forums, which seems to be a likely possibility, this thread goes away.

I feel quite targeted considering the things most people are saying here are much closer to an actual break in TOS than ANYTHING I have said, yet I get banned for stating obvious facts, labeled arbitrarily as conspiracy.

All we are asking for is an actually meaningful update, with real communication regarding the progress and plans to rectify the situation, not another copy paste of "We're Investigating."

I totally agree with you mate, I too have been warned for the same thing...
Without any update we are left to speculate what is happening and the louder their silence the more sinister the silence seems.

*Edit* I mean it seems weird that midyear mayhem ran basically smoothly and the moment it ended it was like a switch was flicked. Especially for console players.

You can ask, but you will not get it. They don't have to tell us how they are progressing, what things they have checked, discarded, or are following up on. You might think differently, but we really aren't entitled to the "inside scoop" on this, and they have decided not to freely share.

As of today, they are still working on it. For now, that is pretty much where the story, and their proclivity to update, ends.

I do see an update, FINALLY.

Unfortunately, it's just another "We're investigating."

This time, they have said it's going well, which at least is not copy paste from previous statements...

The problem for me is that 8 weeks later, having zero improvements in game doesn't feel like "going well" to me.

    Feels like unacceptably dreadful progress.

Update 26 will launch with the same problems. I don't really think they can turn things around. Something is fundamentaly broken and they don't know how to fix it. Why would they suddenly find a solution after looking for over 2 months?
I would be happy to be proven wrong but that's highly unlikely.

It is possible that Greymoor will ship with this. We, the cursed souls who dwell here in the forum, cannot know for sure.

It is not clear whether something is fundamentally broken, and that the delay is due to them having to go back in and architect a new solution to something that they rolled out in Update 25. It may be that the cause is difficult to nail down and understand, and it is hard to really fix something until you do.

I would not suggest that they will never know how to fix it.

Since we have no visibility into what they are doing, from our perspective, it will look exactly like they have suddenly found a solution.

I hope I am not proven wrong.

As I said in their producer letter thread. Update 25 broke it more than it was and they cannot find a fix. It's unbelievable that pushing on over 2 months with no answer to the problem is worse than starting with undoing things they changed in update 25.

The issues are not being fixed. That is neither a conspiracy nor a theory, it is an observation. This situation has remained unchanged for eight (8) weeks. It is therefore not unreasonable to assume that the situation will remain unchanged going forward.

If my car doesn't start for eight weeks after trying every single day, should I expect it to magically start tomorrow?

I am still hopeful. Idk why, but I am.

Patches like this don't go live on other games.

If they did, the very next day they would be rolled back until a working version is thoroughly tested and proven.

How these things weren't discovered during internal testing, I'll never know.

How they were ignored during player pts, I'll never know.

How it went live considering the above opportunities to catch and delay the release until the problems were addressed, I'll never know.

These things are in the past now, though. They did what they did, and there's no going back.

We shouldn't have to wait months for a product to function as advertised that we are paying for. The fact that heads aren't rolling is a testament to oblivious apathetic vision.

Looks like fix for this desync will be in Update 26 (Greymoor) rather than delivered to Live early.
We have made several fixes for the input lag issue that appears to address the problem on our internal development environments. However, it is impossible for us to simulate “real” server load internally, so we are going to include these fixes in Update 26 (they are not yet on the PTS but will be soon). Note that until we move these fixes live, we can’t 100% be sure that this resolves the problem. Additional work may be required.
