Fire world boss in Pellitine is completely nuts

Lots of overland content in Pellitine is over the top. The new dragons are hard to fight, not only are half their attacks not even telegraphed so you have no idea what is going to hit you, they also place huge AoEs all over the place, as well as giving major defile and a powerful DoT on everyone present many a times.
However, dragons are peanuts compared to the fire monk world boss. It's not as much the boss itself, but his 4-6 monk adds that all use a very powerful AoE that not only one shots everyone inside, but also throws fireballs at everyone outside them.
As a tank, with 36k+ health and full tank gear and full tank buffs with high resistances and blocking, these adds one shot me no matter what. Inside the large AoE ring it's a oneshot, outside it, the fireballs hitting you from 3-4 adds is also a one shot. Technically it's not a one shot, it's more like 10+ attacks hitting you rapidly in the frame of 1 second, while you're also being knocked back.
And clearly it's not just me who's a noob, whenever these adds fire up their fire attack, people fall like flies left and right. I've seen this boss decimate groups of 6+ people within a minute, so you repeatedly have to go at him until you get him down just by sheer force of always having at least 1 person alive while people revive, so he doesn't reset.
Something seems glitched or bugged out with this boss, it can't be intentional that he's several magnitudes harder to fight than dragons or the other world boss. And again, even as a full tank you still go down as easily as a light armor squishy dd.

    I haven't experienced this boss but it sounds like you aren't supposed to stand in the aoe.

    Read my post again. I clearly write that even when you're not standing in those AoEs, the adds still fling fireballs at you with faster speed than the fire whirlers in Hel-Ra. And there's like 4+ of these adds up.
    Obviously, not standing in the AoEs was the first thing I did when going down at this boss.

    I thought i was the only one! I was with a bunch of other players and we all died at least 8 times during that boss while not even standing close to him or the adds.

    Are the fireballs a targeted attack or a ground aoe as well? You might simply be missing a mechanic.

    I don't find it particularly good game design to require overland zone bosses to have the same coordination as a vet trial team in order to take it down. World bosses is for small/medium sized pug groups to take down, not voice coordinated tactics in order to not get wiped repeatedly.

    And I think @Dusk_Coven is right, if this isn't a bug or glitch, it's pretty much a bone to all the people who yell for harder overland content. Pity that ZOS doesn't know how to make "hard" content without making it vet trial oneshot hard.

    There was a tank when I fought them. He also died very quickly. And the adds seem to respawn very quickly. It's less about the mechanics and more about the dps, they seem to be able to fire off several attacks rapidly which burns through HP like crazy. For an overworld boss it does seem pretty ridiculous.

    In Vet, there's a maximum number of people who can get rewarded because of the maximum team size. In Overland, you can bring an army bigger than Cyrodiil sieges will ever see. If you don't start killing off people, it'll just be another Alik'r Dolmen that gets overpowered. Even Bittergreen gets turned into steak when there's enough people and he doesn't get to guar stomp any of them into a coffin.

    So I think ZOS should NOT tune this for a while and watch the experiment -- how many people will participate when only a limited number get loot (IF world boss loot limits are enforced the same way). And how long will people continue to organize to take down an Overland boss that's as annoying as a trial boss. You know -- having to bring real healers for a change.

    I ran to the lightning one, got off my horse, DEAD, resssed, DEAD, ressed, Dead

    died 3 times to NOTHING well nothing on my screen, so I gave up and went back to questing

    It seems that the monk servants just fire at a much higher rate than they should be. If you encounter same enemies elsewhere, you can see that their fire rate is much lower.

    As for now, the counter I found to somewhat work is to stun and kill the servants, while someone else handles the boss. Sorc's negate is a good way to start things off, Time Stop can cover all 4 new ones coming out as well, as long as you can kill them before they turn on their fire ring.

    Havent tried it yet but I think I am gonna like these world bosses :) You can ress on spot so it really is not like a trial boss. As long as 1 player is alive you can recover anything.(actually I think world bosses would be better if you couldn't ress yourself.)

    That theory doesn't work when I'm on a tank spec. It's not like heroic and engulfing do THAT much damage. Also, they're not reflecting, they're channeling fireballs like the Hel-Ra guys.

    You're warned now. The point of the thread was mostly to put some light on this issue, and figure out whether the boss (or his adds) are in fact working as intended, or if he's bugged out. I've fought lots of world bosses over the last 4 years, and I would like to think I have some idea of what is "normal" damage behaviour of world bosses, especially when you go in as a tank. And this one doesn't seem at all "normal" to me.

    Agreed, it sounds bugged. Either that or it's a giant middle finger to everyone demanding "harder" overland content. :smirk:

    Never everybody complain about the same thing anywhere. Well i can think of a few exceptions but the idea stays.

    I know you're trying to be funny, but on top of being a full tank, I'm also a Dunmer, with pretty nice fire resistances and not a vampire, and even still it's toast in less than 2 seconds. But sure, guess everything is working fine here, move along, nothing to see after all.
