I like the idea of toppling charge, but in the lag lately; you seem to take about 3-5 steps in place before it actually goes off and if the enemy LOSes, forget it.

I feel like it's bull. They literally just buffed blazing spear and other aoes that this leak is saying are getting nerfed. Seems like a waste of time. Some of the changes will straight up delete skills from being usable. I can't imagine it's true. We'll find out soon enough.

Solar barrage will suck, but proc det buffed by 7% and cost dropped to under 3k (currently same as solar barrage 3300).

Will be using that over SB. Entropy hot, purge hot, unstable core DMG, reflective light DMG dot buffed. I think there's DMG to be had, but barspace! I'd drop reflective light for UC, drop SB for proc det, still using lighting but only for AOE buff; lighting stun removed if you read the notes carefully. And soul trap buffed by 161% lol

I'm convinced this class is bound to perpetual mediocrity with the constant big time nerfs. It's never 5 or 10%, it's always 30%+...

With that said. Self healing will be extremely strong with the cleansing ritual buff, minor mending, and the new vigor/rapid regen.

The notes were officially out by the time you made this post. We're not discussing leaks anymore.

Looks like ZOS listened to one suggestion and extended spear wall

but then they trashed everything else.

Solar Barrage sucks now. What's a melee magplar to do now?

Proc det. Has no cap on the DMG increase. Or use unstable core

What I find very concerning for melee templar is that everyone with a 2h will have 100% Major Evasion uptime now. Time to become a Discount sorc and swap to full ranged single target I guess.

I don't normally run proc sets like this but icy conjuror is fantastic on a magplar.

Great dot pressure, can proc minor maim and procing it from melee rang makes it really hard to avoid even tho it's slow

Using ele drain to proc it along with the line of spell pen the set provides is a massive damage boost.

    Highly recommend

You sometimes need that one proc set on magplar to help in 1vX. But otherwise you can function without it.

Next patch will be interesting, if you can fit unstable core, reductive light and purfying light with jabs.

Think unstable core provides cc immunity upon cast still? Or just after the 3rd reflect stun.

Also, there's literally no way det will out perform solar barrage for aoe dps even after the dmg reduction. At the cost of a dps loss unless you're fighting a group, you get a mediocre delayed (massive delay) burst skill. It's not like det will hit for 7k 1v1 or even 3v1

Based on the wording, it will be 3rd direct hit. and pending how much dmg there is on the UC tooltip, it might be a decent single target sustain pressure; since the snare/imobilze is better than the snare/dot from reflective light.

Will need to test though. I can see reflective light, jabs, cresent UC and prox det on a lighting staff now. Dropping destro reach for UC I feel and if the cc/immobile doesnt happen off total dark maybe go javelin.

idk so many changes this patch lol.

I almost always do pure stat builds but the little bit of extra pressure and potential minor maim really seem to make quite the difference.

Almost done farming Aurorans witch has similar 3 piece and the proc. I'm wondering if it will perform better then what I got going right now.

What do you guys think about the overwhelming surge changes? It is a popular magplar set and all just wondering if it's a nerf or what?

Overwhelming is nerfed with the proposed change, an AoE pulse with low tooltip that will get further reduced by mitigation and Major Evasion. Won't be nearly as good in a 1v1. But hey, now we can hit 6 ppl for 200 dmg each.

Major Evasion is feeling like even more of a slap in the face to Templars now that they're making it obtainable on the majority of PvP builds. And looks like melee Templars are gonna be giving out Major Expedition like candy to medium builds..

@Joy_Division , I'm sure you've mentioned it to the devs before but is there any hope that they will let the single target portion of Sweeps/Jabs not be mitigated by Major Evasion?

It gives sustain back i guess. Idk, I've always been a max stat player, not a proc player.

It's funny because I just made new gear on Friday and replaced Overwhelming Surge anyways. It's one of those sets I always keep around but now doubt that will be the case if this goes live.

I just skimmed the patch notes and I think that's a massive buff to OS in group play and I wouldn't be surprised to see full zergs or teams running it - Purely based on the wording - If that's the case then it's surely a massive nerf to Aurorans as well.

Also does anyone know if jabs in included in this as an "aoe dot"?

"Many Damage over Time abilities, both single target and Area of Effect, have been re-standardized to follow similar behaviors to other ability types. Area of Effect DoTs will now be 33% weaker than a single target DoT counter-part and cost 30% more, just like direct damage AoEs vs single target ones.

Solar Barrage (morph): Decreased the damage of this morph by approximately 33% per tick.

That ones a bit depressing for me, it's hard enough to have enough damage going off at once against strong players as it is but time will tell.

The changes to TD look alright to be fair, I assume it will still operate under the cleanse rules though - I.E, If I or my opponents cleanse it, it can be instantly reapplied.

Tbh it feels like ZOS has some serious ADHD when it comes to balance. First they buff solar barrage and spears, then a month later this. Not to mention the many other questionable choices they keep putting forward. I mean look at the necro bash meta, and check out that new monster set. It boggles the mind.

I've uninstalled for now, not giving up on the game but taking a break. Still love to see the discussion about templar pvp. Have faith guys, one day we'll be on top again.

It might be OP lol. I'm not sure why they didn't just give Templar minor maim, a1300/s hot and always applied immobilze. Would help pve tanks more.

And self buffed nova. That would be more better than the hot of living dark.

It will probably get adjusted over the next 2 months into hofully something still useful but the outrage I see every time magplar gets a buff is so strange.

It seems uniformed people and magplar heal bots make people think we are much stronger then we really are so people freak out when we get a buff.

I don't know what it is but it's really annoying to read posts that say magplar has always been very strong or just put on pirate skelly and become an immortal killing machine.

What they SHOULD do - if not keep it as is - make it where it can be CC broke (costs Stam) but does not give CC immunity.

This is the main problem with the current form of the skill. It’s great when you have a bowblade hitting you from the wall of a keep, but not worth it at all versus halfway decent players much less good ones. Unfortunately these snipers are crawling around everywhere in stealth so in a way it’s a tool to combat being Xv1ed by pugs. But too many good players and too little precious bar space.

When I’m in organized groups as a healer I won’t even break it. Finally a short break from being knocked back by draining shot.

What are a few different set ups for magicka templar in NO-CP? I'd like something that can survive as I seem to be getting shredded sometimes even with major protection.

    Race: Dark Elf
    Mundas: The Mage
    Food: Witch mother brew
    Potion: Alliance spell draught

    Current set up:
Head - Heavy Bone pirate - health enchant
Shoulder - Heavy Infernal Guardian - magicka enchant
Chest/legs/hands/waist/feet - Crafty Alfiq - tri-stat enchants on big pieaces, health enchants on small
Jewerly - Steadfast hero - spell damage enchants and healthy traits.
Weapons front bar: steadfast hero lightning staff - weapon damage enhancement, defending trait.
Back bar: sword and shield deaths wind - defending trait on sword and infused health enchant on shield (to give same HP on both bars) or lich resto staff with defending

    Stats buffed:
2.3k spell damage, 30% crit, 1743 crit resist, 1.5k mag recovery.
    24.7k hp / 30k magicka, 10k stamina.
Front bar: 26k phyiscal resistance 31k spell resistance
Back bar: 30k phyiscal resistance, 31k spell resistance

Front bar: Ele drain, sweeps, purfying light, toppling charge, blazing spear. Ulti: crescent sweep
Back bar: reflective light, total dark, channel focus, honor the dead, extended ritual. ulti: barrier (for mag recovery)

Sorry this is so jumbled together.
