Just some of my take or thoughts on things:

Us customers are far less important to please over things like shareholders, Microsoft, Sony and even the EU server. We have the best server when compared to all others used. PS server went down 2 days ago and the day before that the Xbox server went down. The contracts signed to be on console i'm sure state that many aspects of performance must meet a certain criteria amongst many other thousands of pages of agreements made. I consider that Google may get on that train when eso hits Google Stadia servers in a couple months and has additional latency from playing remotely. Australia will likely get Stadia early 2020. Stadia seems very much suited for well optimised games and ESO will also have horrible FPS being so CPU bound. Even though they may worry about the ACCC like any other international companies selling products or services in Aus. Even as much as any of the other massive companies i previously mentioned. There definitely seems to be enough wrong that the best has been attempted with what has been available to date. Having any of those agreements broken would surely be a massively problematic thing. The engine of this game is such a massive problem. The physical server hardware has always had so much that redundancy at any time is always in operation. Even when the game had over 10x the players it has now, imo. If i were working on this game i would absolutely hate it. Staff i believe do the best they can with the software from many decades a go and not designed for anything like this game. Corporate involvement, stock market, console agreements and ZOS management decisions as a company and above i totally blame for what i see as the perfect storm unfolding. A basic example is that i find it great to see any comment from staff when they rarely do. And disgusted in the fact they do not employ more forum staff as we get rarely anything. Lot's of profit fixed nothing so them making such a massive amount less then what they did do on this game seems great. Like many other long term players. I will believe it only after i see it since we have heard very similar things since day 1.

There is absolutely no way i will pre purchase another game using this engine. And very likely will not buy it at all unless i hear many weeks or months later that is is not bugged like this and all other games using modified versions of this extremely outdated mess. Playing Skyrim is something i have not done for years or will ever do again. The last save file to go corrupt and down to 2 foot steps before crashing and also having animals flying through the sky. Would be so great to play Skyrim without bugs and having the PC power of today and mods to match that is something i would really like. Oh well. I do not want to play the next TES game if it is just gonna go through this same repeating mess again. I also don't like how the Zenimax corporation tried to sue 6 billiion $ from Oculus technology. $250m being the outcome for only breaking NDA type things and no guilt found of any theft could be shown. I guess VR support in the next TES game has probably suffered from this move. And thus me not spending money on that game when i get VR.

2 years of this issue remaining will not shock me the slightest as it is now almost 1 year of the problem being around. They know exactly the problems happening on all servers and with the software used during all of this time.

My best advice is do not even wait for a response. This is the game we have. Decide to play based on that. Not future hope. Any change is something not healthy to even wait for. Only rely on change once it is seen and if ever at all. 99% of the time the fixes we need or want never happen.

    Good insights mrpaxman.

I just checked every PVP campaign, each of which had only 1 bar of population showing (which probably represents as low as zero population).
In each campaign I asked if anyone was online. I only got one response, which was "ur mom". Impressive.

The whole time I was searching for action, all I could see in chat was multiple people from 2 of my guilds talking about how they couldn't do PVE because of the ping, the lag, the glitches.

Starting to see the writing on the wall.
Disappointed, but in the end, it's just a game. With elves and talking cats. :)

I've just switched the game off because of 430+ ping. It's even dicey trying to take down small trash mobs when farming harvesting writs.

For the last few weeks I've been getting ping spikes of 3000-5000+ for a minute or so, but it would return to ~350.

Anybody else remember the days when 190 was shocking?

Considering we're paying customers, it's disgusting for ZOS to totally ignore our issues. It shows nothing but arrogance and contempt.

The title of this post needs to be updated. The average ping is now 400-500ms not 300-400ms.

With no VPN 500ms stable in open world PvE...and I mean open world, not towns. 500 to 650 in Cyrodil. Plus spikes to 750 plus. STILL BEING ROUTED THE WRONG WAY AROUND THE PLANET!!!!!!

What is the point of this thread if they cannot even guarantee a playable game for half the planet at this time?. Are we supposed to wait until 2020 to be able to enjoy the product we pay for now?

Yes and then 2021 and so on, at some point they'll probably make some statement informing the performance fixes take time to clearly show in game and are delayed to late 2020 or early 2021, you see there's no magical button to fix these things over night and all that. The point is all about creating the illusion of the better performance somewhere in the future and keep players tolerating all the problems and paying as long as possible, just works!

@aetherial_heavenn your link to the forum post here https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/487396/official-discussion-thread-for-esos-performance-improvements-plan/p1 lead me to an official news post here https://elderscrollsonline.com/en-us/news/post/56681, which is actually some good news for this game.

Although it's a blanket response, it is a response at least. Only a couple of weeks old and I hadn't seen it before.
It has the potential to fix so many of the game breaking bugs - like cheating, botting, lag, and maybe even ping.

The overhaul depends on it being done properly and promptly though, and I won't be re-subscribing or purchasing anything until after the new download.

I still think they could/should make adjustments to the Akamai fiasco sooner.
And who cares about the overhaul if Oceanic players will still be on 500+ ping after the fixes.

If they had discussions with Akamai to fix our bad ping, and then follow through with the overhaul, then I'd be satisfied.

The Akamai problem is specific to Antipodean players and their performance road map ignores us completely. This game desperately needs optimization and that's fine, but don't pretend it has anything to do with this problem.

Back again to say that my ping has gotten even worse these past couple of weeks, and I'm not the only one in my guild from Australia who's noticed. It was at 330-350, sitting at 400-500+ now (about equal to EU) with more frequent 999+ spikes and disconnects. I don't know if it's the event or what, but it's making it really hard to do anything substantial :|.

I know this doesn't help and we still need ZOS to fix the issue or at the very best acknowledge it, but I've recently started using Mudfish and on Telstra Cable I sit on a "comfortable" (ie: not good) 230-250 ms ping, which in turn has also increased my FPS to 100.Put $10 on it and should last me for a few months, so there's a temporary fix fro some if you want to go this route.

This PROVES that IT IS a routing issue and Akamai is to blame. ZOS, @ZOS_GinaBruno @ZOS_JessicaFolsom , can you at least let us know you know? Can't believe a 37 page thread and not even a signal from ZOS

Think its more of "get the hint".. They dont care, they wont invest in your game play but expect you to invest in their game?

Return the favor and move to games that care about their community and ALL players for ALL regions of the planet, not just one country.

If gw2 can run with a low MS, and zero maintenance time so no interpretations (yep no "days off" because of maintenance), there is zero excuse for zo$ to discriminate against their ocx player base because of where they live.

Yes that was my point exactly. While I appreciate the server side/engine performance problems have been acknowledged and that there have been many QoL improvements recently, the Akamai issue should be a simple one to rectify. JUST DON'T USE Akamai, ZoS. There are better options.
