    Hi ZOS,

This is a quick tracert I did this evening. If you could go ahead and have a chat to your ddos scrubbing contractor about why my data is being routed through the Netherlands that would be greaaaaat. ;)

Given that your terms of service allow you to reject any liability or culpability relating to game connection, latency, stability etc, I feel my only recourse is to use macros in my end game content (pvp) in order to have any semblance of a playable game. I.e. to equalise the latency difference between US and other players. Also, just to make sure abilities will actually fire.

Also, any attempt to edit this post by a member of ZOS staff, implicitly acknowledges the issues pacific/oceanic players have with the game.

So it's a big *** you to ZOS management.

So long, and thanks for all the fish.

This is essentially what I told a guy at work this week who seemed keen to join the game. He CBF bothering after that. Just seemed too complicated for him.

I’m in same boat, melbourne console player, cant do vet or dlc content, can only do normal because I’ve practically memorised it after 4 years.

I cant setup a vpn on my telstra smart modem as whole household uses it and frankly I shouldnt have to. Just hoping that one day we become a worthwile player base.

Everyone continuing to play and pay for a vpn is supporting zenimax and there bad policy/coding and networking choices to be honest.

Its no wonder they dont respond.. Because people will put up with mediocre with a vpn.

How are we supporting Zenimax, when none of our money is going to them? Quitting isn't going to do anything, because the simple truth is that we're nothing but a tiny blip on Zenimax's radar. All quitting will do is give us players peace of mind, allowing us to move on from the game.

Still, the fact that we are a tiny blip doesn't excuse them ignoring Akamai's impact on our connections. Addressing that is literally nothing more than contacting Akamai and asking what happened to our connection, in the best case scenario. Worst case? Renegotiating the contract, which was and is going to happen at some point, anyways.

For people wanting to see the connection they have to the ZOS servers. I and other gaming companies recommend using "PingPlotter" instead of the "command prompt" method. It is a free program. Command prompt is partly unreliable with it's time outs.

Just download the free program and enter the IP address to show that route!

PingPlotter can be run always including while playing any game. Having it running while a disconnection happens will show which IP address had the issue. It also has a graph to easily show the latency times to each IP address in the route along with min and max spikes if they ever occur. And the ability to see any packet loss occur on any part of the network/connection. That also allows to discover and narrow down any packet loss issues on there own network if they occur also. 99% of the time it is just confirming what people already thought. Not a local issue ever.

The IP addresses can be obtained from:
    https://help.elderscrollsonline.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/30903/~/how-do-i-do-a-pathping-and-tracert-to-the-servers-to-test-my-connection
"The ip address is 195.122.154.1 for EU and 198.20.198.110 for US."

Or also other ways like programs such as Wireshark to see IP addresses in use.

To see good gaming connections. iRacing.com online sim racing servers are:
    NA: bosrace01-orig.iracing.com / 67.218.1.1
    EU: amstrace04-orig.iracing.com / 95.211.179.20
    AU: sydrace01-orig.iracing.com / 101.0.91.230

Currently the iRacing Porsche eports series leader is an Australian. On his way to win $100,000 US at the end of the season. No excuse for non perceivable in game latency ever at all. Even the slightest latency spike would result in us getting compensated $. I have never had anything but 1mm accuracy even with in game speeds of 300kph+ often. Wifi is so amplified at those speeds that the game is unplayable resulting in the car flashing back and forward a few car lengths. We get placed on the server that the majority of drivers are closest to. NA, EU or AU. No player at all can tell what server we were placed on. We try guess. But it is like choosing rock, paper, scissors when deciding. Seeing that our guesses are usually wrong after a race makes the whole community confident that latency issues from living in any part in any part of the world are not an issue at all.

Comparing the connection quality and all other things like bugs, development, performance, communication, game age...everything. It all is that much better with other games ZOS. And those things also keep improving. Not actually keep getting worse.

I resubscribed to get double VMA drops. Worst mistake ever. Ping is 100 more than it was last year during the Orsinium Event. Wasted my time and real life money.

They're probably in an extended contract with Akamai, which would cost money to get out of. I think it's more a matter of whether they think the downsides of Akamai are worth the money they'd need to spend dropping Akamai.

Why can't ZOS simply ditch Akamai and use whatever the other MMORPG's on the market use against DDoS protection?

They're probably in an extended contract with Akamai, which would cost money to get out of. I think it's more a matter of whether they think the downsides of Akamai are worth the money they'd need to spend dropping Akamai.

But they wont even acknowledge that. @ZOS_GinaBruno it would be really nice if you or someone could reply with something, even if it just says, "we are locked into an extended contract". The lack of a reason given is a little insulting based on how many comments this thread has.

Completely agree, lol. If they know that Akamai is making our connection worse, just come out and say it.

Just did a trace route - 371ms to the server. My ping is 400 in vMA which I can clear with, but I remember when I used to fret about 300 lol.

It is getting worse over time with each patch

ZOS, like any business, will only spend money to make money. Fair enough Ddos attacks need to be managed but there's obviously no commercial advantage in providing Oz players with a better means of doing it.

The deafening silence says it all.

Very sadly, it all suggests my playing days may be limited.

Mudfish VPN. Best and most cost effective. Takes some time to learn how it works though

    Hi ZOS,

This is a quick tracert I did this evening. If you could go ahead and have a chat to your ddos scrubbing contractor about why my data is being routed through the Netherlands that would be greaaaaat. ;)

Love the Office Space reference there :D:D:D
The state if the game for us here in Australia is pretty sad, but worse still is the lack of acknowledgement from ZOS/Bethesda completely ignoring us.
Today I forgot to run Mudfish before logging in an my ping was hovering between 415ms and 500ms. Turn Mudfish on and I get a much more playable 230ms to 250ms.
Going to raise a support ticket for this see if I get some response...

Logged in again, still ~400ms. Vet DLC dungeons are still pretty unplayable. Went back to Fortnite. Good ping, no problems. Game might not be as good but at least I can have fun and not feel like I am wading through molasses.

Back again! My ping this past weekend was higher and less stable on NA (~380-400+) than EU (~355), from East coast Australia :|.

It just keeps getting worse, people in my guild are leaving because of it. Please ZOS, could you address this?

Yep. Simple fix for Australian issues and works out to about 10 cents a week for me.
