I made this post as a warning: as of now, it is not allowed to name your characters after ESO lore characters. I logged in this morning to find this:
I asked the devs through our discord, and apparently I was not allowed to call my character sheogorath. Next time I log in I have to rename him. I've had the character for at least half a year, I made it because I wanted to make him like uncle sheo and now I was told that it's not allowed. I don't understand that, especially since they released a SHEOGORATH COSTUME in the crown store.
I'm very disappointed and want to prevent that others experience this too, so be aware!

I think it was removed due to real world racial issues.
Which is interesting, considering the filter doesn't always quite pick up on some of the more obvious Argonian names that are more inappropriate, lol

i do not know if it is in the T.O.S. but i am thinking it probably is and they are just recently focusing on it perhaps because some one reported your name.
for me, i prefer to use names just like you have, but, Zenimax might only be doing this perhaps for legal reasons to avoid lawsuits from other companies?
hard to say what the reasoning is on this.
That one was weird, as its just based on the character name not an copy.I was made aware of that a few years ago by a fellow player, when I made a "Stibbons Version Two". ZOS doesn't allow it apparently
