OK, I can confirm that if you go to the eso store and buy the base game for £7.50 you can be up and running with all intact.

    The executable is at:

    "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Zenimax Online\The Elder Scrolls Online\game\client\eso64.exe"

just click on that and the game will launch (make a shortcut on your desktop)

You will get a dialog box telling you to check your email for an access code - enter that and all is good.

I just couldn't take the nonsense anymore and £7.50 seemed a price worth paying to be rid of it.

Do you need to reinstall the game for that? Also, will it leave your characters, Summerset etc. in tact? :)

you dont need to reinstall anything - you just use the same eso64.exe in the steam folder. Absolutely everything is retained.

Do we retain the DLCs and expansion bought through steam (say, summerset through steam) if we do this?

I just dropped $100 for a second copy with ESO+ of the game I already purchased because the first one DOES NOT WORK......I have to start over because of this, It would at least be nice if I didn't have to pay again for the privilege.

Ouch.. that realy hurts my mind. Either you're rich or....

not rich but this is my main game and I have more money than time so I dont want to invest time into a game I probobly wont be able to play when I want to.....stared at the error screen for 8 hours a couple weeks ago and if starting over lets me enjoy my Saturday off work well then I guess its "worth it"

So in a previous thread @ZOS_BillE said that we can unlink our account via a support ticket, but when I choose Steam > Account > I can't unlink my account, there is no option to do so.

Is there a better way to go about this?

So I'm guessing I won't get the free pet for the daily reward?
The daily rewards are good. Very nice.
But it seems a bit silly to have a daily reward sistem on a game that does not allow its players to log in daily.

So it's like ... 9+ hours on. We've had a single post from a Community lead on here and a single tweet to say they're investigating. If it were my company, heads would be rolling. Not for the issue, but the fact that nobody is updating the customer.

So my wife has given up even trying to play and I am going to do something more productive. Hope you all get on by close of play today but I seriously doubt it. Good luck in getting any communication from ZoS too

    Night all. Peace out

I'm pretty sure it will work tomorrow but I'm not sure it will not happen again (it is the third time in the past few weeks to my knowledge) and I'm willing to cancel my subscription for a few months and buy just the base game (about 10 EUR now, so not really wasting money) if I can retain the expansions and not buy them again, if I have to buy the expansions again it would be a waste of money (for me) so that is what I want to know about.

    yes, all of it

and you can continue to launch via steam when its working if you want to - eg patching / PTS etc

EDIT: you can even use the existing launcher at:

    "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Zenimax Online\Launcher\Bethesda.net_Launcher.exe"

without steam handling the login - you just need to remember your uname and pw since autologin does not occur

The Support Page suggests that you can't unlink your account if its over 7 days since they were linked. If you choose 'yes' to the question then you can proceed with a little Next button that appears.
I did that but I've no idea whether it will be argued against.

    So it's like ... 9+ hours on. [...]

Tbh, I gave up like 4 hours ago. Just want to participate in the brand new forum-based eso expansion "ESO: Black Tuesday", seeing what storm started here and on steam, social media and so on.... Even if it has no major impact financially to ZOS, it has when it comes to reputation - and this may hurt even more.

I dont believe its solved until tomorrow noon. I bet my free crate on this.

Say NO to Crown Crates. Crown Crates are Loot Boxes. Loot Boxes are gambling. Zenimax makes enough money off us.

Agree 100%. I am sad that so many players did that.

It is really frustrating that we are getting only "we are working on the problem" or "problem is fixed" (once it is fixed) without ANY explanation what is/was wrong.

I was giving ZOS a lot of credit and patience but I am slowly reaching my limit. I just want to play...

I gave up on the idea of contacting the support about little things while playing the game (like being unable to accept the master writ quest from the sealed writ after the first try to open it...but like after the 5th or more), I kinda accepted that my main character has some issues that can be annoying...BUT...more annoying is not being able to actually PLAY the game. :disappointed:

Oh well...hope dies last...so they say...

well its only £7.50 and my time is worth a helluva lot more than that if I stack up the many many hours of downtime.

What ZOS should obviously do is stop their hopelessly broken authentication process with steam and just let any player with valid credentials log in to the game.

Especially since it requires absolutely no change to the installation on your PC.

I just wish that people will not turn their negative reviews into positive and say "Whatever, it's ok now." over a fix that may last for like... 3 days at best. We should keep our negative reviews until they actually deserve a positive one.

Just tried to log in again, nothing. How many hours are we on now? 12+? You know after the first or second time of this, I could see programmers working to find the problem and it taking a bit of time, but this has been atleast a handful times in the past month. We just had this happen yesterday. Your programmers should be very familiar with this problem already and know how to fix it more quickly, atleast temporarily until the main cause is found. This is ridiculous. Premium players are losing out on time/money spent on the game especially, along with everyone on Steam that has dropped 80+ dollars on the game. Premium players are the ones truly losing out here. I feel bad those people. Does Zos intend to compensate them with extended time on their subs for the time that EOS has been down for them? This is not a cheap game to play. I don't understand why your programmers aren't being more efficient. You have the money to hire good ones, surely.

I think, they have a private Feud with Valve : Valve demands more , Zos does not give,Valve blocks his path OR
Valve is on the reciving and, stands up and say"no more" and ZOS continues with bullshiting...
BOTH Companys needs to be observed in this case, both of them lack in communication, which, if you have them as Employer, were sueable for mobbing.
