Update on Steam Login Issues

I would like to revive this thread as this issue is not resolved. I am a new player who has mistakenly bought the Steam version of the game.

Is it acceptable for ZOS to make us feel like we have an inferior version of the game?
Is it fair that we were not forewarned of the issues before we spent our money on the steam version of the game?

I think steam users would like an update on the log-in issues that separates us from the rest of the community. Can we expect to permanent solution, or the ability to switch away from the steam client.

This is the main discussion thread for steam issues as pointed out by a ZOS staffer. This thread was also stickied for a few weeks and the issue remains unresolved.

I am asking for an update on the steam login issues from an official thread. Do not undermine.

But by necroing this thread you make people think its relevant and its not. The only thing it has in common is steam players cant login. It has nothing to do with the current issue of why.

if you are new, you might want to just buy the game again on the non steam version. Steam issues are frequent and have nothing to do with Steam. Zenimax just isnt very good at coding and think a " one size fits all platforms" approach is doable. Furthermore, Steam players are treated as second class citizens because Steam takes a cut of the sales through Steam. I have had zero issue with steam games for the 10 years plus ive had steam and dozens of games i have on steam, until i started playing this one.

    Let me translate this:
"We are aware that some Steam players are having issues logging into the North American and European PC/Mac megaservers. We are actively investigating and will let you know when we have an update. Thank you!"

"We are waiting for 23:00 UTC to put server down and do the same restoration thing which we do every patch. It helped each time so we decided to spent no resources on matter which happens so rarely and affects minority of players.. ok, ok, a couple of juniors will gather diagnostic info and send them to Gabe/India/wherever"

    Well, that's good to know.

Would it not be nice to have an official thread (like this one) where the developers can at least confirm that we are second class so that we may move on with our lives?

    SOLUTION

The copying of the program data folder did not work

    BUT I AM IN via The Elder Scrolls Online>game >client > eso64

and my eso+ is actually working

    (Steam user)

FYI They are sending a 'your computer is not authorised' message and a emailed code EVERY time I try to log in -and of course there is no drop down menu on support to get help for that). Still works -total pain.

Well, at least we know why Bethesda doesn't have Fallout76 release in Steam (besides other reasons)

The solution is to buy the game again or do something else until they fix it. Sometimes that takes a couple of hours but usually its between 6 and 12 hours.

Steam users tend to get booted offline far more and servers go down a lot of us while people who dont use steam have few issues. Players think this has something to do with Steam getting a cut of sale price. We are less profitable and thus lower priority.

As for developers good luck with that one. I have been here for 18 months and have yet to see a developer interact with the community. The best we have is Gina and company. They do there jobs pretty well given the circumstances. I couldnt do there job, at least not at ZOS where it was constant problems and constant legit complaints.

It was never a solution. It is a workaround found by players.

ZOS never touted it as a solution, and never will.

What if we lose the free murkmire login due to what's happening?
Last time (in june) it lasted over a week for the steam EU players.
Are you just going to give us the dlc for free in that case?

I don't think this is directly zos fault and I can't believe bethesda does nothing with these issues, why can't you charge steam with something?

This is not a solution, as been said many times last time it happened in june. This only works for steam users who bought the game before the Tamriel Unlimited release in mid 2016. For all those who bought it after, it won't work. I just tried and it asks me to login through steam.

Because login to steam works like a charm! It's the ESO Login Server not accepting the login since the last ESO update!

It's been more than 5 hours since this started now? I really hoped we wouldn't get here again.

I'm getting flashbacks to the days of troubles in June... I can't see any word on what's actually going on and when it will be fixed, unless I missed it from somewhere else?

This is not good transparency for a subscription service.

I'm trying to log in on the regular launcher but there's no "Play" button...I bought the game again about 9 months ago when Steam wasn't working for ESO. So yeah, that solution isn't working for me. I usually have to open via Steam to get updates, then I can close Steam and open the regular launcher to play, but now, no play button appears.

edited to add: It appears I'm in game now. Via Steam, even. Good luck to all!

If you didn’t necro the thread ZOS would close it ant point to this one...or they should. Else why do they pay all those forum mods. They NEED to hire some new programmers or sumfin.
