I would like to revive this thread as this issue is not resolved. I am a new player who has mistakenly bought the Steam version of the game.
Is it acceptable for ZOS to make us feel like we have an inferior version of the game?
Is it fair that we were not forewarned of the issues before we spent our money on the steam version of the game?
I think steam users would like an update on the log-in issues that separates us from the rest of the community. Can we expect to permanent solution, or the ability to switch away from the steam client.

This is the main discussion thread for steam issues as pointed out by a ZOS staffer. This thread was also stickied for a few weeks and the issue remains unresolved.
I am asking for an update on the steam login issues from an official thread. Do not undermine.

But by necroing this thread you make people think its relevant and its not. The only thing it has in common is steam players cant login. It has nothing to do with the current issue of why.
if you are new, you might want to just buy the game again on the non steam version. Steam issues are frequent and have nothing to do with Steam. Zenimax just isnt very good at coding and think a " one size fits all platforms" approach is doable. Furthermore, Steam players are treated as second class citizens because Steam takes a cut of the sales through Steam. I have had zero issue with steam games for the 10 years plus ive had steam and dozens of games i have on steam, until i started playing this one.

So the solution is buying the game again? And Steam users are second class citizens is confirmed.
Well, that's good to know.
Would it not be nice to have an official thread (like this one) where the developers can at least confirm that we are second class so that we may move on with our lives?

SOLUTION
The copying of the program data folder did not work
BUT I AM IN via The Elder Scrolls Online>game >client > eso64
and my eso+ is actually working
(Steam user)
FYI They are sending a 'your computer is not authorised' message and a emailed code EVERY time I try to log in -and of course there is no drop down menu on support to get help for that). Still works -total pain.
