Kill stuff fast, pay attention to mechanics, rez dead people, listen to tank and heal's calls, and what not. It is also required by Imperial law that DPS blame the healer for them dying.

    O.o there's a law....

    For me I think
DD= Group Play-focus on damage n rely on others to fill their role.
DPS=Solo-get in, do damage n get out...

this debate has been covered ad nauseam. there's little point in trying to argue which is correct. The terms are used interchangeably.
Calling a DD as a "DPS" is still wrong no matter how many times it has been discussed. You don't call your Healer "HPS" nor you call your Tank "TPS" or "Taunter".

Honestly never heard this "DD" thing until the arguments on this forum. Everywhere else.... "are you in tank spec, or DPS spec?" "got tank & heals, need DPS", etc.

(this seems to fit in the same category as arguing with people over "ATM Machine" "But you're saying 'machine' twice!" :D )

Well, it is the exact opposite for me. In my experience "DPS" is being used by people who can't speak english properly or at all.

As much damage as i can get without being a glass cannon... From experience glass cannons spend more time dead than actually doing damage..

So being a good dps depends on three things, defense, healing and the rest damage.. The issues is getting those three things to their exact levels.

DPS would be someone concerned with dealing constant and steady damage. Not worrying about withstanding damage from direct attack, as the tank is pulling all that aggression on to him or her. DPS would also not be concerned with healing others, and only with healing self if convenient or healer is busy.

In that last one, this game is kind of different in that keeping yourself healed with effects and abilities that heal you is easier than some other games.

Because the other two roles are a lot harder.. Tanks need to focus on the job. Healers need huge multitasking and have really good area awareness.. Both need to have leadership qualities..

Dps just needs to kill stuff and follow rules..

I am convinced more and more that in ESO...dps means to be turned on at the mere sound of skeleton dummy tests or whatever.

To me dps is just that...dealing damage..preferably more than a tank...that's it.

I am not a DPS. I am a damage dealer. I have a dps range that I can consistently reach on a dummy but it is meaningless. What matters is killing the enemy before it kills me. As long as I and whomever I am with walk away from the fight, it is all good.

Being a dps/dd means to me:
    - deal as much damage as I can,
    - respect the mechanics by not standing in enemy AOEs
    - following orders from heal/tank
    - ressing whenever possible
    - Moving as little as possible when in a fight without dying

Moving as little as possible contributes to the max damage output and I think helps the healer. My max damage can peak to 30k, but it usually floats around 25k, so I cannot skip mechanics. And I feel like most of the time tank is the leader.

It's easier to be a dd in an organised group than being a dd in a PUG, simply because voice chat helps communicate with the team.

    O.o there's a law....

Well of course!! We can't take responsibility cuz that would go against the DPS code of conduct.

Jk of course xD DPS gotta be aware of their mistakes and understand where they went wrong.
