Cant hate on people considered whales. Obviously they are financially successful enough to afford it. Wish they added apex mounts for gems. They should get that much.
DieAlteHexe wrote: »I posted this in another thread, it applies to this one too:I understand limited time things and creating some exclusivity with price.
However, if the Marketing People would just stop chasing the Whales, and sold most things at a reasonable price, more people would buy them. They sell a mount for 400 Crowns and it will fly out the door. Heck, maybe even 1200 Crowns and it will still fly. But at 3000 or 4000 Crowns? I know they get some sales, but it can't add up to more than a reasonably priced mount would.
I think the issue there is it would remove the "überness". Some folk really place a lot of importance in having something perceived as rare.
I do, however, think you are right with respect to pricing but it would irk those for whom having the rares is important. Not sure which would result in more income but I suspect the lower price would.
Sure, some things can be Exclusive, never said otherwise. However, it seems that anything that comes out for the Crown Store is both Over Priced, and/or Exclusive Time Limited.

I have to admit I’m a whale when it comes to cash shops in games. In most MMO’s I play I spend good amounts of euro’s to get those nice cosmetics. Furthermore I’m a collector and due to that whenever I see something I need to get it. Did this in other games like WoW, GW2, SWTOR and ofcourse ESO. With ESO I managed to get all stuff until the crown crates and even with the crown crates, the first two seasons I got all items eventually because you actually could even if your RNG sucked. But ZO$ being greedy added more items and added items you could not get through the gems so basically you had the chance (a very big one) to not get everything before the season was over.
Which meant as collector I could not get everything anymore. Because of this I have been spending less money on the cash shop then before, this whale got killed. So I made an analysis from my expenses from the account page and holy *** I spend over 4000 euro’s on ESO. But the good thing is that ever since the change to the way ZO$ is trying to grab more cash I spend less and less on ESO. So I would like to thank ZO$ for this, got cash to spend on other games which do not throw me under the RNG bus.
Below my spend euro's on ESO on crowns over the years per quarter:
It's even worse.... now you have to collect motifs, piece by piece, in crown crates. They are introducing this practice on the next crate season on PTS. What would crafters say about it?

Are you talking about the Pyandonean motif? It will be available through fishing, not only in the Crown Crates.

Fishing eh? So, it will be available through payed RNG or through grindy RNG...

Just like the other motifs

Yes
But the other motifs could be bought directly, for an outrageous price, though.
Dude, did you even look at your chart?
Your spending has doubled every year.
And while this year you've spent less than last year... you have still spent more than the first 2 years.
Even if you end up spending less this year, that'd be understandable; you can't expect people to keep spending 2000€/year on the game... or even more.
2k euros are pocket change for some.
What annoys is not 2k-4k but the fact that if you really, REALLY want something, you still won't have it because of RNG + time limits they impose.
What happens is that if a collector starts missing 2-3 items, he's not feeling being a collector any more. Thus he drops the whole operation and hops to another game where he CAN purchase ALL.

Same here. 20% just wasn't enough enticement. I can wait.@DieAlteHexe nope they are not measured in hours. but then again i never saw a limited offering in ESO beeing up four a few hours. 3 Days is the least i saw if i recall correctly.
Thought I'd seen 2 days but I am happy to be corrected. Point still holds. I've rarely seen (as in can't remember seeing) offers in the "real world" that were that limited timewise.

What part of the world do you stay in? I worked in retail for several decades, it's quite common to see a 3 day sale or less, especially around holidays you'll see sales that only last for a few hours in the early day with extremely low stock on hand just to get customers in the door.

Yeah, someone above made a good point about that!
