If I wanted to purchase 21,000 crowns I would pay US$149.95 (undiscounted). Since I am in Australia that works out to be approximately AUD$198.90; which, for comparative purposes, is just short of what I spend each week on groceries for my entire household (AUD$200). Unfortunately - I think this is the big kicker - crowns don't go very far. Motifs are typically around 5,000 crowns, notable houses are often 2-3 times that much, etc. you can go through them *very* quickly (particularly if you have multiple characters).

And while everything comes down to choice, I can see why some players are dissatisfied and why a 20% discount isn't much of an incentive for others to purchase crowns. Personally that's why I like ESO+ as you're getting crowns in addition to other tangible perks.

Pets now cost on average 1000 crowns to 1500. When just last year they were 700 crowns and 400 crowns year before that.

Eh it isn't enough to tempt me this time around. I was planning on buying one of the big packs if they did the 50% deal but at that price it isn't worth it to me. They can set the prices however they want and I can also spend my money however I want.
