You have epitomized the exact I've been making for the past 12hrs. For you and many others, this change in discount structure represents a sharp decrease in crown to money value and hence you are a less happy customer. I just can't understand why the white knights can't see how people can be unhappy with this change by ZOS. I think I'm more surprised by the vehemence of the "how dare you be unhappy with a ZOS decision" brigade than I am with the actual decision by ZOS!

It's always the same people, so it doesn't surprise me in the slightest.

I am not really sure what ZOS is thinking. For whatever reason they have really been on a roll lately, and they are doing a very good job at making people upset. First they try to introduce crown crate only motifs. Then they have the dungeon outfits that should be dropped from the dungeons, but are crown exclusive. Yay! There is a rare chance that we can get the shoulder and helm costume in game. Pretty sure they are giving us nothing there. I can go into my bank and throw on the monster set now if I want. BTW most people hide those helms, just saying.So here we have another example how all of the cool stuff is put in the crown store , and not in the game. I could go on and on. Now they hit us with the worst sale they have ever had. The direction that they seem to be heading in is very disappointing.

It's pretty straight forward for me:

The only time I have bought Crowns (outside what I get from my ESO plus) was when they were at a 40 - 50 % discount, because then I actually felt I was getting my money's worth in pixels.

This time around they chose to only do a 20 % discount so I have decided not to buy any Crowns - so in turn they will make less from me.

If everyone does the same, we will see more discount on Crowns.

I keep the crowns I get with ESO+. I always think before buying something from the crown store, and it forces me to not buy each thing I like but I'll never use. Also, at the moment, I want nothing from the crown store.

If really I fall in love with something and don't have enough crown... Bad for me if there is no sale. But no, I don't buy during sale just for later.

I was planning on buying crowns for the first time when they go on sale next, but after seeing it's only 20% off I decided to just allow my crowns to slowly build up with my eso + and then buy what I want later on months from now.

If it was like half price I would of bought a ton of them. Is the sale normally only 20%? I am a newish player.

I wouldn't consider a 40$ motif book one time use which you can obtain in game for under 100k "On a Roll", or 120$ for one digitial house.

Even Lotro's full Mordor expansion is 40$ on there website and if you buy it from the website you get an Aria worth nearly 60$ of in game LP.

I've spent a lot of money on ESO and I don't mind spending it because I enjoy the game, spend a lot of time playing it, and I know they're a business and provide a service that does cost them money. With that said, I feel like they've become quite greedy lately, especially when it comes to the so called 'randomness' of things like the crown gem items.

I went ahead and picked up a 5500 pack, I'll be at 13k crowns once the update hits console with ESO plus crowns. I've logged so many hours into this game that at this point Zos deserves the money I spend in game.

the fact that 20% off isn't enough to make me buy crowns isn't an actual indictment of the crown system

in fact, and I find this kinda counter-productive, but ZOS has effectively devalued their own crown currency, by overpricing items in the crown store and by hiding so many items that COULD have been crown store items behind the randomized loot boxes, that I no longer have any particular incentive to buy crowns at all

or, think of it this way - I have fewer and fewer options of things to buy in the crown store...less incentive to buy. Prices for the few things I *might* want in the crown store, EXCESSIVELY HIGH PRICES - dis-incentive to buy anything in the crown store

3rd - take many things I *MIGHT* want to purchase, now make them a fixed price, but only RANDOMLY dropping from crown crates - I'm not interested in a *CHANCE* to buy the thing I want vs things I already have, things I don't want, and/or worthless things to me - equals, DIS-INCENTIVE to purchase crowns

really, ZOS, it's like you WANT to fail as a business model...

i buy ESO+ in 6 month blocks (gives 9000 crowns) and i also buy crowns regularly.
when they are on sale i buy even more!

i bought the 21000 pack and got a few stuff and thangs for my house.
i bought a couple crates and got that raid style motif book (has the blue glow. dro mathra i think?) so that was cool.

i love ESO and i strongly support the game, as it is almost the only thing i play.

i dont see the crown store or subbing as greed.
i help them keep revenue coming in for new content development and to “keep the lights on” by subbing and buying crowns.
server maintenance and making new content and patching the game costs money. i have no problem doing my share to support ZOS so the game alive for several more years to come.

Crowns are a digital currency. It doesn't cost ZOS any less to put them on ''sale''

It is merely a tactic used to make people impulse buy. Just like the ''limited time'' offers. It's not like they have a limited supply of digital pixels.

Most people are just stating that 20% ''sale'' is not enough to make them impulse buy, or feel like they would be getting their moneys worth.

It is also mostly down to the principle of greed. ZOS offered 40% sales half a year ago, but now choose to offer 20% sales. This is not because they are running out of crowns. It is because they want to test the water and see if they can get away with squeezing more money out of their customers. People are just stating that they won't be fooled by this tactic and will be voting with their wallets.

Personally I would have spent £100+ on crowns had it been a 40% sale, but I will be spending nothing purely because of ZOS' greedy nature they have been showing us over the past year or so. It is not about being salty, miserable or desperate for attention. It is about voting with our wallets and not passively accepting greedy behaviour by developers.

If you wish to continue buying crowns at full price or on a 20% sale, then that's up to you. If people don't want to buy crowns full price or on a 20% sale then it's up to them, and I believe they have every right to voice their opinion on the matter and speak out against greedy developers.

Nope, I'm mostly OK with the 9,000 crowns I get every 6 months from ESO+. I would've bought an extra 5500 crowns if they were at 50% off though. Would've made it worth it to buy 3-4 extra character slots.

I don't think you need any sort of background in economics to understand that a 20% sale of digital currency isn't because the company is trying to do us all a favour, but is a tactic used to make people impulse buy or feel like they're getting more for their money

I'm sure someone could prove me wrong with knowledge of economics but this is just how I'm seeing it from a customer's perspective
