I am fine with them bundling it in to the base game - almost all MMOs do this with older expansions as newer ones are released.

I am mixed on them giving it in the Summerset pre-order since I already purchased Morrowind. Why am I paying the same price for a pre-order with Morrowind (that I don't need) as someone who is getting both Morrowind and Summerset at the same price.

As an ESO+ member the entire time I have played this game, I am very peeved about the content being offered FREE to ESO+ members. That basically means we have now classed Morrowind (the zone anyway) as DLC - so why did I pay extra for it in the first place?

I just bought Summerset, just the cheapest copy though. Granted its really the only game I play and my dog won me a free copy of Morrowind in a fiercest pets competition quite randomly, so Im really looking at buying like $15 worth of new game in the past 2 years.

Well, now that you know most likely Morrowind/Summerset will be be bundled with the next chapter or free with ESO+ or purchase it with Crowns, wait until next year. I know that I will be enjoying it ( Summerset ) just like Morrowind for a full year. But hey you won't have to pay for it.

No other MMO, or any other game at all, offers content it cost them millions of dollars to make for free to some people, and not the others. And yes, I know DLC can be bought with subscription crowns. If you had done the exact same thing with Morrowind from day one none of us would have a problem. But now you are offering free content to a very small fraction of the player base, while everyone else still had to pay for it!

Bud, what you get is being able to play it for a whole year before the people getting it with Summerset/with crowns.

By the way, doesn't WoW make each past expansion free after the new ones come out?

The same people complaining about not getting the expansion for free will be the first ones to say it's unfair Summerset has aspects that are exclusive, like the jewelry crafting. Good grief.

*Sigh.* Seriously, Zenimax, what is wrong with you?

You finally gave us a system that was fair to both veteran players, and the new players drawn in by the announcement of the Summerset expansion, by giving those new players the ability to buy the Morrowind Expansion at half price and to do so after Summerset was released, so those who couldn't buy it within that very small window of opportunity could still get some savings if they bought it bundled with Summerset. And now you go and do this?

Yeah, sure, this is fine for those who didn't already fork out up to $120 for Morrowind when you announced it; but those of us who did support you when you created the new content are getting even more screwed over than we were before.

You know full well that the veteran players make up the vast majority of the player base. We are the ones who spend our money every paycheck on the various crown store features you offer. New players are cautious, and the vast majority of them leave after a few months, never to pick up the game again. It is the veteran players who who stick around week after week, renewing our subscriptions month after month, buying costumes or assistants or even houses when we can afford it. Yet you do this to us again. Again!

There would be no problem if you were offering something to those veteran players who made Morrowind so successful that you got to keep your jobs. We're the ones paying you more money than anyone should have to so you can keep the servers running. We're the ones who are keeping you all in your jobs. And yet once again you try to abandon us on the side of the road, bloody and broken, because you want to sucker in the newbies before word of mouth gets around and the day-one and pre-order sales dry up.

I almost cried the day you announced this; because that one flicker of intelligent decision-making you displayed by offering Summerset alone at a discounted price for those who didn't need Morrowind again gave me, and the other veteran players, a small spark of hope, that made all the abuse and threats we got from the new players worthwhile. Now? Well, you're just making us pay for it all again. Again.

This is a suicidal move, and I give you one warning: BETRAYING YOUR ESTABLISHED VETERAN PLAYER BASE LIKE THIS WILL END YOU. It won't be today, or tomorrow, but you will be forced to shut down the servers as the new players you suckered in with free content learn that what you are currently doing to us, you are more than happy to also do to them.

So offer the hundreds of thousands of us who gave you our hard-earned money when Morrowind was released something in return for our loyalty and our support. Thousands have already cancelled their subscriptions and closed their accounts because of your utter disregard for your consumers. Keep Morrowind free for the new players by all means, but give us something, like 4000 crowns and a choice of notable houses. Or better yet, give us Summerset for free, since you're giving away Morrowind. If they deserve something for free, then so do we. But seriously, just do something to convince us to stay and keep giving you the money that keeps your company alive and your employees able to put food on their tables for their families.

To those people who abused me last time, and to those who are just coming into this game, I offer you one piece of advice, though I know most of you will ignore it: DON'T BUY SUMMERSET!

I'm not saying that in protest, though I know that is the most likely interpretation. Instead I'm offering it as a warning. We payed up to $120 for the Morrowind expansion, and now they are offering it free to the people who can now buy it with their subscription crowns (which they get FOR FREE with their subscription, making Morrowind free for those who pay for it this way). If they do this with Morrowind, it is guaranteed that they will do this exact same thing with Summerset next year. So new players next year will get up to $250 worth of free expansions that you paid far too much for less than a year before hand. Then you will be in the exact same position I and my other veteran players are in now, and you will be sitting there suffering days of endless abuse from the new players who think they are entitled to it simply because they came later than you did.

We either stand up now and demand they treat everyone with respect, or we let them walk all over us, and everyone who comes after us, now and in the future.

Oh, and to the forum moderators: I apologise for the abuse and utter vitriol that the other forum users posted on my last thread. It was... disgusting for me to read it. I hate to think of how horrible it must have been for you. I will not apologise for posting these threads, though. We consumers have the right to be treated with respect and equality across the board. That said, I know it's not your fault, and I apologise for the abuse that this thread will inevitably attract. But I will stand up for myself. Some countries probably have laws against this, though I don't know which, nor the precise document, otherwise I would have posted a link to it. We deserve better than this. We deserve better than you (ZoS you, not you, you). Someone has to stand up for those being stepped on, and it might as well be me, since everyone already hates me.

To everyone else, please, post your own threads, tweet ZoS' twitter, post on their facebook pages, write tumblr posts, make your own videos, and send in customer support tickets. Maybe then we will finally be treated like people and not walking ATMs. Probably not, but if we don't try, we will never win.

Oh, and I won't be reading this threat until the moderators step in. I had enough of the abuse from the majority of forum users the last time. They and the others still deserve help, though. So, you know, go nuts if it makes you feel better.

This was an interesting read. I agree that new players should get some indenture for joining eso! Besides, new players are actually fun to play with. I’ve been playing for a year and I have always met veterans, whom some in particular (will not mention names or gamer tags) have been very pleasant, nice, polite, and fun to play with. Then a player that is extreamly new to the game comes along and thanks to hanging with vets, I was actually able to help them out and have fun being the teacher for once.

I dont get why you're THIS mad about this. This is a smart move on their part and one that doesn't irritate me one bit and i bought the collectors edition for morrowind. I've been playing that content for a year now about i got my money out of it and more. The price for the game for people without a sub fee is high because of all the dlc we get thats why its a good move for them to bundle in morrowind to give them some extra content so they may stick around and buy the other dlcs or maybe even sub. I want the game to survive and keep growing if they dont bundle stuff the cost will be too high for a new player to consider hopping in. Thats why wow bundles in past expansions with their basic wow purcahse after 2 years but they have a mandatory sub fee so they get that money back eventuallyt.
  • Sybreed_Neurodrive

I didn't want to wait a year for the Morrowind chapter and I'm glad I didn't. Besides, getting it with a PAID subscription isn't FREE at all, is it? When you have to put out money for something, that's the exact opposite of free.

Yes, I purchased Morrowind and then prepurchased Summerset. I'm glad I did. I have enjoyed their content and still do. I don't want to wait a year or so to play them when features may be different or removed altogether. I also have no idea how long ESO will exist, so I want to play it as long as it is here rather than hold back, wait a year and lose out on playing the new content for that length of time, in order to pay for something you pretend is "free."

I am their target audience. I pay for a subscription and then pay for chapter expansions. I "pay" in Crowns for things that should be free.

I paid $120 for Morrowind (physical collectors edition in Australia) and $120 for Summerset (again, physical collectors edition in Australia).

And I find it frustrating that when Morrowind came out the argument for access not being included in ESO+ was it was a Chapter/expansion not a DLC. Now, a year later, it is suddenly a DLC and hence part of ESO+...

Has anyone stopped to think that it's because of the outcry that chapters were not included in ESO+ that ZOS made the decision to change how they handled chapters. They listened to the community and changed things based on your feedback by moving the old chapter to ESO+, isn't that a good thing?

Never understood these kind of complaints.

If you buy an album of a band you like, do you demand that you will henceforth receive eeevery single new album they release for free?
If you buy a car, do you demand that it's forever considered as valuable as the day you bought it? Same year model, same car. Yeah, I'll buy a new one - easy, I'll just trade it in for a new one, no problem.

And this thing about the price of expansions... You are fully aware, that you can buy a non-bells'n-whistles digital upgrade, for like $20? Right? You don't HAVE to purchase a limited edition physical collectors edition. It's true!
And so many people play this game, for what? 4-16 hours/day? And complain about some $20 upgrade, of something they spend THAT MUCH TIME at? I mean seriously. It's a s**t cheap hobby, except borrowing books from the library, what other hobby can you spend that much time doing, and get away with paying for like ESO+ and some 4 or so expansions yearly? You don't even HAVE to buy them you know, OR have ESO+ at all.

I have no idea what mental age people like these reached, but it's embarrassing for sure.

There ARE things to complain about concerning this game, server performance, well known bugs and glitches that should be easy to fix, an arrogant attitude towards much of the player base. But this... No...
