DON'T BUY SUMMERSET. ZoS screws it's players over again.

While I don't personally care, I do understand why some people are upset at Morrowind being brought to ESO+ and included in the base game purchase.

ZOS emphatically stated before Morrowind's release that it would not be available in ESO+ and that we would have to buy it separately. There was no mention of any future plans to include it in ESO+, and all communications with ZOS made it seem like Chapters would always be separate purchases.

So I can see why some people would be upset. If they had known that ESO+ would include Morrowind a year after release, they might have just waited. Some others are upset because of the huge outcry about Morrowind not being included in ESO+, and then later being added after people either bought it or bought the Summerset preorder.

The biggest issue I see here is unclear communication from ZOS. Guys, the players need to know these plans far in advance to avoid these miscommunication issues. Players like to be informed, and when they are not they can sometimes view it as deliberate. If you guys have plans to add Summerset to ESO+ anytime in the future, you should probably say so upfront if you want to avoid a situation like this next year. @ZOS_GinaBruno @ZOS_JessicaFolsom

Every company does this, just compare this to the distribution cycle of any movie, Theatrical, most expensive experience, then buy the DVD/blueray, then rental, then distributed to some subscriber level service like netflix or amazon prime. That's how product cycles work, allowing you as the consumer to determine how much you want something. If you feel abused, use your self-control as a human being to wait for the discounting cycle and buy something that will make you feel good about your choice?

I bought Summerset and I dont regret it. I wont regret either because I prefer b2p new content while I also dont expect to pay for the old one. If you are a new player the game is already expensive enough (but worth in my opinion).

It just occurred to me - I bought Ratchet & Clank (PS4) new. Played & enjoyed it.

...and last month, it showed up 'free' for people who subscribe to Playstation Plus. Which I'm subscribing to.

And I'm OK with that. /shrug

    I'm absolutely livid right now!

I bought a 65" UHD 4k TV for $3,000 and now, a year later, I saw the SAME model going for only $1,500 AND they had the nerve to include a free blue-ray player! If I had known they were going to rip me off like this, I'd have just waited a whole year. I should be given my $1,500 back as compensation and the fact that I've enjoyed it and used it every day since buying it is completely beside the point!

    Anyway, what were we discussing?

    I do not understand.

Why get mad because later something is cheaper/free? Happens all the time in games.

Mario Kart 8 for example -

Bought it on Wii U. Bought DLC separately.

Comes out on Switch, and I buy it with DLC for free (already in the game).

    I wasn't mad. Why would I be?

*Sigh.* Seriously, Zenimax, what is wrong with you?....(rant)

Actually the vets in the game make up a small % of the player base from what i see. In fact id say the vet population is smaller percent wise than most MMOs by quite a bit. I consider hitting max level to be "vet". And i see very few people running around that are 720.

That said... this is normal for developers to do. Bundle old content together for a bargain price when new content comes out. Imagine if you had a game like Wow where you had to buy every xpack at full price to catch up. It would take $500 plus just to get to current max level/ end game content. No one is going to invest that. All mmos do this. I dont know if your really a vet of this game, but you obviously lack experience in playing MMOS... or at least ones that make it more than an xpack or two in.

The game will have much lower draw from new players if they have to pay for 1T, Morrowind, Summerset. You would have to pay $100 plus just to see if you even like the game.

My husband and I have the WORST luck with this. We'll decide we want a new something. We'll wait a bit to see if there are any sales. Then we buy it and bloody hell if the thing doesn't usually go on sale within a week.

I don't want to claim that Zeni would do this, but I am genuinely curious what their response would be if you contacted support and informed them that you purchased it a week ago and were wondering whether or not they would honor the new sale price. I understand they'd have no obligation but I actually really want to know what their policy is on that. I can probably find it in their ToS or something.

To me vet players are those who live and breathe eso, [sarcasm] playing eso since before launch even [/sarcasm], spending more time in the game than inrl, and of course paying too much attention to leaderboards and meta builds than to...actually playing. I know, I am probably biased in my opinion.

That's a non-sequitur. A player's gameplay experience has little to do with how often they play.

OP's usage of the word "veteran" is dubious here, since it is also used to describe players that play veteran content. OP meant "veteran" in the way that one describes loyal, committed players that have been around for a while.

It can be argued that a large portion of the playerbase is newer players, particularly around events.

OP - you seriously spent way to much time on that rant post.

It suggests to me that you need to get out into the real world more.

Imagine if you put that much passion into something that mattered rather than the mundane business practices of a game company.
