    Why thank you. :)

I find that flaunting rules tends to yield unfavourable results. Of course, you're free to be all hard and do as you wish but then less of the caterwauling when caught out.

The fact still remains the ToS is not a joke, its a legally bound agreement just like we have laws.

Im not caught my dear i dont even have the update yet but i do feel the suspending is overly harsh.
I admit i dont even know why i feel so strongly about it but it just annoys me that the game gets worse and worse everytime they touch it and they still have the nerve to label their BUG an exploit. It just feels wrong to me.

I might be over dramatic lol..... opting out of this thread now hahaha

It was a generic "you". :)

We certainly are seeing things through different lenses. I don't think the game is getting worse and worse. I think it's evolving as do all MMOs with good updates, not-so-good updates, bad updates etc. Bit of a roller coaster at times and for some, that's problematic.

Too, they didn't label the bug an exploit. I wish people could learn this differentiation. USING the bug to gain is the exploit. Bugs happen, taking advantage of bugs to progress or gain is the problem.

Precisely. The rest is simply social engineering by cheaters to make the true villain here the developers instead of the cheaters. The most effective tool cheaters have after being caught is to attack the system that caught them and remove trust in that system from the general population. This isn't a new concept and yet the outrage drummed up acts like this hasn't all been hashed out or discussed before for years in other games where people have exploited poor programming. This has been debated to death and the end result of years of discussion is that it's the players who are responsible for actions performed on their account, regardless of who actually did them, the intent behind them, the benefit reaped, or the plausibility of ignorance. Casting blame may have worked in the 90s but developers and players have learned so much since then and it's about time ZOS took a harder stance on exploiting. With luck, this will be the beginning of a bold new era where cheating is actively discouraged.

I don’t even have my XP bar visible because I’m at max CP. if I hadn’t been working I would’ve tried to farm TV too and I’d be banned.

Sure there were abusers. But innocents got banned too.

Haven’t you learned by now not to put too much faith in ZOS?

I'm afraid that the only recourse for someone who does not wish to follow the Terms of Service or Code of Conduct you agree to when you play the game AND to receive no consequences for that choice upon being caught is very simply to not play the game.

Also you wouldn't have needed your XP bar, your screen would have been spammed with CP gains, even at max CP.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think anyone has been banned...yet. 276 people have been suspended pending in-depth reviews.

If someone is innocent, they need to reply to the suspension email and have a discussion with ZMax about the issue. ZMax will have the data and tools to suss out who is and who isn't innocent. What they have done is cast a net, now they're in the process of culling the catch.

I would agree with this action if some special exploit (something like, say, Skyrim resto potion loop) had to be used to intentionally gain the extra XP, but when it happened merely by playing the game with no additional effort on the player's part then ZOS should take full 100% responsibility for the problem rather than blaming others for their screw up. I rarely even glance at my gold/xp/loot popup thingy and it's incredibly disturbing that I could be penalized for a developer mistake that I'm not even aware of while I'm farming tel var or whatever.

Again, we're discussing numbers, I don't know why you're taking this personally.

They didn't "blame others for their screwup", they blamed them for taking advantage of it.

Why is that so hard to understand?

I understand the skepticism people have, really I do. But I'm surprised how hard it is for people to accept that you could legitimately earn 9 billion Champion Points in a row without noticing. Does no one in this forum find half the ZOS UI kind of annoying and use addons to disable it? Am I really the only one somehow that doesn't see XP or CP gains?

You can turn off all that stuff with LUI, a pretty popular addon...

And even without addons, after you earn 900 of something, don't they become like billboards after a while? Don't you mentally block them out, especially in the middle of battle?

There are times I'm just grinding mobs or whatever, trying to get a skill morphable, and I don't see the big ol' announcement in the middle of my screen because I'm in combat. I know it was there. I know what it looks like. I was specifically looking for it to pop up. Yet I missed it all the same because I was busy wrangling enemies and having fun.

(Again; I am on PC where this bug happened and it could have been me, BUT I never went to IC during the time this issue was taking place. I'm not suspended, no one I know is/was. I'm just curious and a bit confused by the community's reaction to this.)

If that's actually the case, then that's the perfect case to make in an appeal to ZOS. I'm sure that ZOS is capable of making sure those addons and UI functions were exactly how someone claims they were.

How surprising is it that when you try to make that case to the forums, where we have absolutely no power to make decisions but do have some rather large grains of salt when it comes to people claiming to have innocently gone about their day while somehow exploiting a bug (AP farming, chaining into keeps, trial cheese, whatever the bug you wanna complain about), that some of us think that's a totally reasonable point, some of us think that ZOS is ones who get to judge that excuse, and that some of us assume its just an excuse?

I can't judge the validity of someone's case of "I had all the UI stuff that might tell me about exp or CP gain turned off so therefore I should be excused. " ZOS can. That stuff belongs in an appeal to ZOS, in my opinion, since there's nothing I can do to tell if the person making that case is telling the truth or lying. (And no, I'm not going to simply presume good faith, see previous examples for why I've got that large grain of salt.)

276 people? It would be the biggest coincidence I can think of ever encountering if that was the explanation. IOW, I doubt it. That said, I'm sure that some folk do turn off their UI. And those folk need to reply to their email and discuss it with ZMax.

The cynic in me thinks, though, that a fair percentage of those who were absolutely clear on what they were up to will glom onto this as their excuse.

There are, absolutely, zealots on either side of issues like this. I'm pretty basic about these things. There's an expression that I will have to self-censor:

    **** around, get burnt.

I've never really understood cheating. I mean folk seem to do it to "win" but never seem to understand that they actually haven't won anything because they invalidated the result by cheating.
