You and the other brainless defenders simply because there is a TOS are the only ones with a hare-brained position.
But i am glad it amuses you.

Why thank you.
I find that flaunting rules tends to yield unfavourable results. Of course, you're free to be all hard and do as you wish but then less of the caterwauling when caught out.

Im not caught my dear i dont even have the update yet but i do feel the suspending is overly harsh.
I admit i dont even know why i feel so strongly about it but it just annoys me that the game gets worse and worse everytime they touch it and they still have the nerve to label their BUG an exploit. It just feels wrong to me.
I might be over dramatic lol..... opting out of this thread now hahaha

Precisely. The rest is simply social engineering by cheaters to make the true villain here the developers instead of the cheaters. The most effective tool cheaters have after being caught is to attack the system that caught them and remove trust in that system from the general population. This isn't a new concept and yet the outrage drummed up acts like this hasn't all been hashed out or discussed before for years in other games where people have exploited poor programming. This has been debated to death and the end result of years of discussion is that it's the players who are responsible for actions performed on their account, regardless of who actually did them, the intent behind them, the benefit reaped, or the plausibility of ignorance. Casting blame may have worked in the 90s but developers and players have learned so much since then and it's about time ZOS took a harder stance on exploiting. With luck, this will be the beginning of a bold new era where cheating is actively discouraged.DieAlteHexe wrote: »Too, they didn't label the bug an exploit. I wish people could learn this differentiation. USING the bug to gain is the exploit. Bugs happen, taking advantage of bugs to progress or gain is the problem.

I don’t even have my XP bar visible because I’m at max CP. if I hadn’t been working I would’ve tried to farm TV too and I’d be banned.
Sure there were abusers. But innocents got banned too.
Haven’t you learned by now not to put too much faith in ZOS?

I'm afraid that the only recourse for someone who does not wish to follow the Terms of Service or Code of Conduct you agree to when you play the game AND to receive no consequences for that choice upon being caught is very simply to not play the game.

All the best.

I rarely even glance at my gold/xp/loot popup thingy and it's incredibly disturbing that I could be penalized for a developer mistake that I'm not even aware of while I'm farming tel var or whatever.
I understand the skepticism people have, really I do. But I'm surprised how hard it is for people to accept that you could legitimately earn 9 billion Champion Points in a row without noticing. Does no one in this forum find half the ZOS UI kind of annoying and use addons to disable it? Am I really the only one somehow that doesn't see XP or CP gains?
You can turn off all that stuff with LUI, a pretty popular addon...

If that's actually the case, then that's the perfect case to make in an appeal to ZOS. I'm sure that ZOS is capable of making sure those addons and UI functions were exactly how someone claims they were.
How surprising is it that when you try to make that case to the forums, where we have absolutely no power to make decisions but do have some rather large grains of salt when it comes to people claiming to have innocently gone about their day while somehow exploiting a bug (AP farming, chaining into keeps, trial cheese, whatever the bug you wanna complain about), that some of us think that's a totally reasonable point, some of us think that ZOS is ones who get to judge that excuse, and that some of us assume its just an excuse?
I can't judge the validity of someone's case of "I had all the UI stuff that might tell me about exp or CP gain turned off so therefore I should be excused. " ZOS can. That stuff belongs in an appeal to ZOS, in my opinion, since there's nothing I can do to tell if the person making that case is telling the truth or lying. (And no, I'm not going to simply presume good faith, see previous examples for why I've got that large grain of salt.)

276 people? It would be the biggest coincidence I can think of ever encountering if that was the explanation. IOW, I doubt it. That said, I'm sure that some folk do turn off their UI. And those folk need to reply to their email and discuss it with ZMax.
The cynic in me thinks, though, that a fair percentage of those who were absolutely clear on what they were up to will glom onto this as their excuse.

I like your level-headed response / approach, VaranisArano
Keeping up with the thread, it just kinda feels like people are getting borderline frothy over all this, so kind of felt the need to chime in. :P
Maybe I should just keep quiet, since this is my first rodeo on forum threads covering exploits...

No doubt, I never meant to imply that all were innocent. I'd bet my account that most of those people were exploiting. MANY people love to exploit wherever and whenever they can. I was just kind of struck by what seems like the witch hunt mentality by a lot of posters here. "GOOD, BURN THE CHEATERS! BUUURRNN THEM AAALLLL!!! >:D" is how the thread kind of comes off at times, haha.
