The exploit ban is too harsh.

Now you know how we black folk feel. Meek Mill gets 2 years in prison for going on tour and breaking his parole from something that happened 6 years ago. 2 whole years in prison. The system is harsh and cruel. I personally have no sympathy for people who cheat then brag about it. Good riddance.

Don’t see why they got banned. This game is the most casual game I’ve played. Who care about scores? 99% of the playerbase doesn’t. If this game was actually competitive and scoring was important then the ban would be understandable but it’s not.

It’s just part of ZOS’s ongoing war against players ... every time players find a way to get a leg up, ZOS cuts the leg off. If the core story of the game itself didn’t have such a following they would have scared off their last customer long ago.

lmao, stop acting like a victim, these people were exploiting and got justly banned

The tos says dont exploit ... that’s like a speed limit sign... everyone goes 5-10 over and if you get caught you get a ticket. They don’t take your car and shoot you on the spot.

Wow ... ZOS actually treats people worse than the government. Suck on that for a minute.

again, terrible example. its like everyone going 5-10 miles above the limit and the few speshul once going 50 above the limit. the ones going 50? get a ticket. EVEN IF ITS THEIR FIRST OFFENCE. this was an equivalent of going 50+ over the speed limit. on a stretch of the road where they KNOW there is a cop car trap.

Stop being so dramatic.

Most of them were along for the ride thinking they found some cool new way to beat a boss.

I already said I agree with Banning the ones who were advertising the glitch and charging people to come for the run.

But Dude who heard it could be done and tried it just to see for himself? Spent thousand bucks on the game with zero infractions? The death penalty?

Go check yourself before you wish that on others pal

I love how I'm the one who is being dramatic, not you. the moment they saw that the kill involved not agroing the boss, they should have gotten the hell out of there, NOT stayed around for the kill
dirty worthless casual.

Y’all trippin

Any and all intentional exploits should be permanent ban. That’s kinda the point of enforcement.

Either enforce or don’t.
This was the correct action and the same should apply to all other exploits and things like bots

What they should be doing instead of swinging the ban hammer wildly and recklessly, without aim is actually fix the issue. They need to make it so the exploit is no longer possible, that's how you get people to stop taking advantage of the exploit. Not banning people who recently found out about it.

I am going to bring up something from the other "exploit" thread.
inked1 wrote: »
They exploited a glitch. That is bannable. But what they were also doing was selling skin runs to people while using the glitch. These two things combined is what I think got them (deservedly so) perma banned.

I do not know if this is true - in fact, in the other thread I asked for the source. But if this were true, then it's not a matter of "innocent gamer finds exploit, rejoices; evil corporation strikes back", but rather more a case of "this is not a GodWars variant being run out of a university dorm, hence perma-ban". ["You get a perma-ban...and you get a perma-ban...everybody gets a perma-ban!.."]

The original ZOS post, as quoted around, does not include any such details, but rather complains about achievements being obtained "unfairly". It's their game, of course, so they can ban anybody for anything they wish, but "unfairly" obtained achievements? In an MMO? Heaven forbid...I mean, why perma-ban instead of month-long plus character deletion (which solves the achievement "problem")? And so I am actually hopeful that there was something more to the story so as to absolve ZOS of any appearance of arbitrary authoritarianism...but I don't know. I only speculate.

Normally you wouldn’t hear me say anything like this but personally I think the permanent ban is much too harsh. Especially for the first time offenders. I know some of the people who have done the exploit personally and they are very dedicated players. Some of them have been here since day 1 and spent thousands of dollars on content for this game. And to be banned for using a glitch that exhists in the programming may be wrong but a permanent ban is far too harsh. Now I don’t pve because iv got no interest but now iv seen some longtime players get the boot for something that while morally wrong isn’t nearly as severe as some of the chats going on in game. Iv seen people get harassed to the point where people even make Facebook accounts to harass players but they never got banned. Personally I would give a 1 month ban. Removal of ALL items and the achievement and skin. At least then the punishment is severe as to make a point not to do it again but doesn’t completely destroy someone’s hard work. While it may have taken zos months to make their trial. Some players have well over 2 years invested in a character. I don’t know about you but unless your actually causing someone harm then I think a permanent ban is too harsh and I feel zos should send a warning and let them know that the next offense is the end. But that’s just me.

Not dedicated enough to get the titles and the bells and whistles without exploiting. Serves em right.

While am all in for punishing exploiters and im happy to see zos taking some actions, it does not make any sense in regards to bleakers ap cheaters, miat addon users, bot trains and everything we see on a regular basis and report on a regular basis

I fail to understand the logic and the fairness in zos actions.

All in all some actions must be taken against cheaters but in a more coordinated and organised way

In my opinion they did it right, it was before that they were going to easy on exploiters and cheaters.
I hope they will continue to be as hard as now on this sort of players.
I was pretty tired of players getting perma-ban and going back to a 3 days temporary ban, or players having several temporary ban again and again.
I honestly wish that ZOS communicate more on those cheaters/exploiters but it's already a good step in the right direction.

I've had guildies disagree with me on this but I'm not a PvE player.

I also thought it was a bit harsh. The banned players didn't create a cheat or anything, they were literally just taking advantage of a mistake by the game developers. In PvE! No feelings hurt!
Reset their characters or something. A ban is a bit whack!

Black people have historically received harsh and cruel punishment for things not equating the crime. The OP feels this way about the exploit perma-ban so he can now see how we feel.

It's times like this that Zos has to play Bad Cop. They can't always let stuff slide, whether that be a lack of manpower to do all the things like bot disposal, other tickets, plus the guy who feeds the server hampster brigade. They had to flex their banhammer because of how new the content is that got exploited. They have every right to ban whoever breaks ToS. You agree to that when you play ESO. So I think we should see this as a sign that Zos does have a stance on exploiters and cheaters. Even if its a blanket to cover the elephant in the room (the other ongoing exploits all over pve and pvp)

Comparing that to cheaters getting what they deserve is making me uncomfortable.

Never compared them, just stated that now OP can see that side of the light. How people perceive that is of their own accord, and honestly if you are getting uncomfortable because of something said online you can just look away from the screen. Grow thicker skin.

Oh wow, Zos Banning people because they *** up with a bug due to their ineptness and now banning people for it? Geee, where have I seen this Before *Cough gap closer exploit that haven't been fix in three month Cough*

Tbh, them getting banned is probably a blessing in disguise for them. They don't have to pay for this miserable game anymore, and can actually start having fun with other games. Like the streamers are doing. sure, they're salty that they got banned, but lets be real. It won't matter anyway. There's other mmo fresh in the sea, and this game won't last long in the future once elder scrolls 6 inevitably comes out.

I think most everyone was tired of seeing various exploits being taken advantage of in the game and ZOS not doing enough to dissuade those from doing it again. So they decided to send a clear message this time that everyone will understand. If you exploit, you could be permabanned. Although I feel sorry for those who were punished, they knew what they were doing was wrong, especially those who were advertising runs in zone chat.

for all of those of you saying the punishment was just -and that they knew what they were getting into please consider your own experiences with dungeons- and if there was a dungeon- for example:
that allowed you to for example, skip a bunch of mobs by jumping over a wall by going up a tree, or conjuring a memento to skip another wall, and going straight to the end boss. and that after you killed this end boss- you still got a speed achievement, a no death achievement, and a skin. because many of the dungeons in this game have such a mechanic that allow you to bypass segments of the dungeon. Is that violation of the spirit of the game- and should players be punished for that too? cos if an exploit like this did exist- i think every single group that i might have run the dungeo9n with would have used the exploit casually without any hesitation. this is all hypothetical of course.

just think its a bit hypocritical because there are things that we do in this game all the time that skip the intentioned mechanics of the developers. they made a mistake and its a video game- ur talking about taking away something that is the social and gaming outlet for a lot of those players, now thats gone- imagine how much time and money they've invested all gone like that. i agree they deserve punishemnt- harsh punishment, but i also think they deserve a second chance.
