Those “exploiters”

Isn’t this ZoS’s fault for having a bug in the game allowing people to kill a boss from a safe area?! How is that a bannable offense for those players if it is built into the game, you should be thanking them for doing some free beta testing and exposing a bug your dev team left out there......

ZOS introduced the bug, but it's the players who *knowingly* exploited it.

They didn't just accidentally walk into a bug, they purposely exploited it. Big difference ...

Playing within the game is all fair.....simple as that. Every dungeon has an opportunity to cheese and people do it everyday, if they cared then they would fix them all

Its not like they randomly triggered this bug. They found out how to glitch the boss and used that to their advantage.
When you install the game, you have to accept the TOS and it clearly states that if you use cheats and exploits, your account will be suspended. I dont believe that those players were so stupid that they didnt know what they were doing, probably they just saw that people often get away with exploiting and decided to take advantage of it.
Hell, those "free testers" were even trying to sell glitched runs for a few millions gold. :D

They got a perma ban for shooting a boss where it couldn’t hit back? Where do you draw the line between smart play and exploiting?
And where do they have time to ban active players with all these bots and macroers running around?

In this case, not even that. They were on PS4, where you can create alt accounts for free. That said, their characters, gear, money spent on crowns... that's all gone, permanently. Which, you know what? That's fine. Someone was crying about how the hundreds they spent on the game went up in smoke for using the exploit.

    Nope.
They'd also need to regrind chars, gear and champion points and all their gold, items and collectibles would be lost. Not to mention stuff like horse training and crafting knowledge.

Sounds like what they found was a way to kill the boss that was clearly not intended by putting themselves into a position that the boss could not get to and could not attack back. Then, apparently, they guided others through this exploit.

We should ban everyone who cheesed FG1 last boss via bridge... its the same
The bans are good but it shows again that the trial was not properly tested against something like that.

I rly support name shaming in that case!

Recently, a small number of players discovered a way to kill Saint Olms + 2 (Hard mode in Veteran Asylum Sanctorium) from safely outside his room where he could not attack them. This is not only unintended and an exploit, but it cheapens the time and work put in by players who have legitimately beat this fight and earn a very difficult achievement and reward. As a result, we have permanently banned all players – 34 accounts in all – who used the exploit to complete the kill and earn the special achievement and skin in this way. We will not be considering overturns for these account bans. They are permanent and final.

We are working on a fix for this exploit, but we will not be able to deploy it until Monday at the earliest. We will be watching things closely over the weekend. After we deploy the fix on Monday, we will do another audit of kills for this fight. Be warned: we will permanently ban any additional players who use the exploit over the weekend.

I'm half way inclined to do this and get banned so i stop trying to pvp every day with these gd permascreens. I play this game for fun, and I'm pissed off bc of it. Shouldn't be that way. It would kinda be nice to not have an account, is definitely not start over.

Yes people exploited and they should be banned i think,

But this just reinforces how little the content is tested before being released.

In ESO your almost scared to do anything in case it is an exploit due to poor testing on ZOS part. I found a nice room in Vvardenfell to do stealing in, used it maybe twice then not again just incase i got banned for exploiting when who am i to know if it was intended to be like that, or its a mistake on ZOS part that i would get banned for.

If you can kill an enemy without it fighting back that is an exploit in any MMO even if its an very smart tactic in real world and a single player game.
This is also stated in the rules for all.

You can see this in the game, enemies will not swim so you can do ranged attacks over an river.
You can kill normal mobs easy enough but if you just LA they will recover so you can not snipe an world boss this way.

Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

Big thanks goes out to the exploiters for exposing a bug that needed fixing
and thanks also goes out to the exploiters for getting banned in a visible enough manner that hopefully other such players will think twice before exploiting in the future

They exploited a glitch. That is bannable. But what they were also doing was selling skin runs to people while using the glitch. These two things combined is what I think got them (deservedly so) perma banned.
