Live with the consequences of that choice.

oh my. The consequences of that choice are already there : you get more fire damage from the passives, no health regen and so on. There are consequences that affect gameplay and no one WHINES FOR THEM BECAUSE WE AGREE THAT THERE MUST BE A GAMPELAY DISAVANTAGE TO HAVING BONUSES! Stop patronizing us ffs "man up" really?

Don't want to look like a corpse?

    Don't become a Vampire!

    Simples!

    All The Best

The problem is that ZOS attached insanely powerful endgame buffs to being a vampire. :(

    So?

If you want those buffs put up with looking like a corpse.

I can't stand looking like a corpse so my end-game MagPlar is not a Vampire.

    Simples.

    All The Best

If you want the buffs from a monster head, deal with looking like a doofus.

    Simples.

Oh, wait! We have an option to hide that and still see our appearance with crown appearance items and no odd blotches from skins.

Why? Because in-game appearance =/= a balance item. Having max muscles gives you no additional damage. Having the gut slider at maximum doesn't make you slower. The dro'mathra skin does not change your dps by a single point.

So it baffles me that folks are hung up on this "can't have all your nice features from character creation and the benefits of vampirism," particularly with something like transmog around the corner.

"But what does that have to do with the price of bread in France, Bright?"

I'm glad you asked. You see, I have yet to see anyone shout "Don't like having an alligator on your head? Don't use Slimecraw!" Nor have I seen anyone raging against transmog because "the appearance of that set is a drawback!"

Seriously. Either appearance is separate from gameplay and transmog and an optional skin to look like a normal man/mer/beastperson instead of a corpse are both perfectly alright, or it isn't and they aren't. Both alter appearance while retaining stats. Both allow you to make your character look more like you want it to. Both are logically lore-appropriate.

Personally, I think it'd be awesome for such a skin to be tied to max rank vampirism, maybe with a more ferocious or color customizable (within hair color range) werewolf appearance or polymorph. A werewolf's strength is in, well, strength and raw bestial force, while a vampire's is typically in blending in until the time is right to strike.

    Fair enough.

But we only have the version of Vampirism they have given us, we choose to use it "as is" or we choose not to.

I think the Trade Kiosk system needs significant reform, and so I simply do not use it "as is".

I am a hoarder, I have many tens of thousands of gold worth of crafting mats I could sell, but I choose not use the Trade Kiosk system, so they go unsold.

I made a choice, I have to put up with the consequences of that choice.

    All The Best

Look, you. If you're going to end every post with "All the Best," you should really probably mean it and not just act like a patronizing g...irritant who doesn't bother to read what other people write. At no point in my post was I rambling or incoherent, and while you may have found it difficult to actually read and process, I also never suggested nor implied that I "don't want to deal with the consequences of choices I freely made." In truth, I'm not a vampire and, while I'm incessantly told I should really be a vampire for the bonuses and that I'm seriously gimping myself for not doing it, am still not. And I'm dealing with it. However, that changes absolutely nothing about my positions on this issue, which you so gloriously and completely missed with your egotistical superiority and condescending tone.

Let me put those positions in a smaller post so that maybe you can follow along. You ready?

-It does not make sense to say one thing that changes how you look but leaves stat improvements is okay (transmog) and say that another which does exactly the same thing is not.

-How you look is not and should not be considered to be a gameplay consequence. As I already explained, if you'd bothered to actually read, after transmog is released, nothing else in this game will function this way, not even vampirism. Disguises and skins already hide vampirism but keep the stats. Hiding helmet hides the helmet but keeps the stats. Hiding your freaking mount upgrade appearance changes does not make you have 0 points in those stats. Skins and costumes and appearance choices (except for race, if you want to consider that an "appearance choice") in character creation do not alter any of your stats by a single solitary point or percent.

-You can argue all you want that we need to "man up and accept our consequences" (Seriously? This is a freaking video game, and we're discussing character appearance. What the frig does "manning up" have to do with anything? In addition to being incredibly sexist, derogatory, and even more patronizing), and that "how you look is a consequence," but this is an MMO, not Fable, and, once again for good measure, nothing else in this game functions this way.

The only things I "don't want to accept" are the need to choose between hitting a ceiling in how well I can play and how my character which I spent considerable time creating looks (things which any sane person would recognize both matter in an MMO, and ZOS already recognizes to a degree- see position 2), and individuals who act superior to other people, don't even bother to read what they say, and finish every single post with a hollow "All the Best" that amounts to an attempted backhand to anyone said poster deals with.

EDIT: Oh, gee. I meant for it to be a smaller post, but that didn't happen. Ahwell. It probably would have been ignored and snidely belittled, anyway.

so people want to be a vampire but not look like a vampire? that seems very illogical
and to those claiming 'i dont want it, but i need...' - you want to be a vampire because you want the perks.

as someone said, dont want to be a vamp, dont be a vamp. you shouldnt be able to have it both ways.
