The problem is, if this WAS an intrusion or a player found exploit, if you tell people what it is it gives them a basis of testing parameters to break the code.
So if you have an electric fence and they tell you that there was a break in this specific area, but it was repaired, you investigate the circumstances of that break and the repeat attacks until success.
If you never know where that break was, you can't try to replicate it. It's a decent idea to obfuscate in these situations.
They may tell you privately if you have some need or ability to assist, but public sharing is not wise.

Imho it's better to encourage people to test it on PTS and give rewards for ones who finds a new exploit. Reward that makes it worth sharing with ZOS instead of abusing it for personal gains.6 -

That is very insightful, i had not considered that. But its very possible then that they won't give us any info on this exploit even after its fixed.
We'll be left to speculate and wonder... bummer
In my opinion, the best handling of any game exploit is one that closes the loophole, keeps as many users as possible in the dark about the core nature of the exploit and reprimands OR compensates the users, depending on the situation.
Reprimand users that uses these exploits for personal gain and compensate users that help identify and fix the exploits before they are public knowledge.
Now, there are different levels of this though. If it is a player 'behavior' that is exploitative or toxic and not a broken game mechanic, then it's 100% appropriate to bring it in front of the public and discuss the consequential actions.Tl;dr really weigh the fun you have in game vs the business practices you are supporting.5 -

✭ZoS are incompetent. That has been made clear many times in releasing content that is shamefully sold in an unfinished and untested stage.
The no deaths is a new exploit. The guild bank exploit has been around for some time. Like most players in ESO, you are IGNORANT until someone breast feeds you an exploit and this mainly only happens because the details are shared out of the 'circle' and some sheep squeals.
At no stage is ZOS on it or checking, or even testing the dung they release and charge a premium for. Every achievement and title has been exploited in ESO, some even multiple times as ZoS is incompetent to code in solutions they just band-aid fix it until an upcoming patch re-breaks it again.
Still denying the duping glitch recently?, i know ZoS forum sweepers deleted a lot but here is a pic to remind you of ONE player who is selling so much items are -60% of the market value so, like ZoS, if you state a re-seller then you are clearly incorrect.

ESO has never been competitive. It has been reduced to exploiting or been exploited and the 'team' at ZoS are not equipped to deal with any of it.

✭✭✭✭✭If only people would play on the PTS in order to find exploits and report them, rather than playing on the PTS in order to find exploits so they can keep quiet and use them the moment the update hits the Live servers we'd never have these problems in the first place.
I hope ZOS take as much time as is necessary to fix the problem, and tell us as little as is necessary about what the problem was. Most of us only have a passing curiosity in knowing what the exploit was, and the few that have a vested interest in knowing what it was shouldn't be told.5 -

Ok. First of all, so far he seems to be the only one affected by this account hijacking... That could be related to a third party software that steals passwords or many things, not necessary related to a game malfunction or exploit.
Second of all, I DO NOT have anything personal against him, and thats why i've nice to him. Yet, that does not restrict me to say what I believe, which is very unlikely that ZOS decide to roll back BOTH megaservers because the one account god hijacked.
Third, every time they say servers will be taken down and leave the reason to imagination people panic. And this is what is happening now. They started with new dungeons achievements malfunction - bug, and now the main focus is on this topic. Thats why, like I said before on a reply to him: It is better to follor protocol and keep this kind of issues personally with ZOS support so they can investigate and the gates of hell are not open in forums, like now it's happening.
Personally, I dont have anything against him, but like I said, ZOS should have the ability to roll back his account if it was a hijack that bypass both security checks, and dont do it globally in two different servers. You all just assuming this IS related to the "exploit".
My logical mind thinks this is not the reason of the mantainance, for the lack of information we have.
You are in panic right now, but hey, there is absolutely nothing you can do now because servers are down. Lastly you are just assuming multiple accounts were hacked. When all he said was in the PAST 12 hours (to wide and far from an emergency shut down...), hes account was hijacked, and multiple people (they will have to check one by one of the "new" guild members) purged the guild bank, and hes baby warden was deleted. For me it's 1 account hijacked, and presumably multiple accounts stealing stuff. And if this is the case, why did it take ZOS +12 hours to take servers down?.
