For the record, the $300 dollar figure is a typo (meant $200) and it is based on research into how many Crates you need to buy to get enough things to convert to Crystals to buy one of the 400 Crystal Apex mounts of your choice.

After some extensive testing some friends and I came up with a figure of about 5000-6500 Crowns worth of crates to get 100 Crystals. So, say 4 of thee 5000 Crown packages plus maybe some extra, or roughly 20,000 Crowns to get 400 Crystals. You might need more, but since you start getting duplicates more frequently the more you buy in a "season," 4 5000 Crown packages (20,000 Crowns) usually about does it.

Standard US Crown price is $40 for 5500, so 4 of those, plus change depending on luck, should let you buy one Apex mount.

So actually $160 if you get really lucky.

That is way beyond the standard MMO price point, and OVER A YEAR WORTH OF SUB CROWNS.

I left my girl sitting on her white Imperial horse today at a wayshrine while I walked away to pee. I must have been trying to show off, because obviously that's the only reason a person would leave their toon on a mount at a wayshrine.

You clearly have a problem with how people spend their money.

The drop rate of a legendary mount is around 1.5% per crate from what I remember on the PTS test thread before ZOS got smart enough to remove crown crates from PTS. They may have changed the drop rate but I don't have a compelling reason to believe so. My opinion, many people say they didn't spend more than $50 because they are embarrassed. They did spend far more than $50 though. For what it is worth I know a few people who are willing to admit to all the $50 packs they bought and got no shiny mounts.

I got my storm atronach on my third crate out of 5 I bought and is not like I'm the only one.

Crown Crates from the last season were totally worth it, they had nice hats, nice mounts and nice costumes but the new ones are completely disgusting, from the hats to the mounts.

1. I'm on PC
2. My loading screens take maybe a minute at peak time.
3. Very rarely get this.

I've got my ESO gripes, but overall I like this game and personally I like supporting my hobbies.

Yeah. Some people dislike them for a couple reasons.

1. They're gambling.
2. Other games have done similar and the company then milked them to a point of neglecting content.
3. Instead of more things going onto the crown store, many things go straight to the crates.

There's nothing wrong with the current state of ESO in my experience, I don't suffer any performance or other issues, so there's no reason for me not to spend money on it other than that I get pretty much all I want through my subscription and have no interest in what the crates offer. I can only assume that those who are throwing money at the game don't have any serious issues with it either.

I do not like the gambling. But I have no problem with the mounts. The variety is nice.

Also, this thread title makes me giggle. I thought it was going to be a complaint that people were using the zone chat like a chatroom and not playing the actual game. Reminds me of when I would play Mabinogi whose other name was The Glorified Chatroom. Don't knock it, it had a great pet system. Wish I could have a pet in this game that would pick my nodes for me.
