As you saw in Matt’s 2017 roadmap, we are making Cyrodiil performance evaluation and fixing a priority this year. We want to make sure that Cyrodiil is a great PvP experience for everyone. Over the last year, we’ve made some good strides towards refining server performance across all campaigns, and we will continue down that path.
When looking into Cyrodiil issues, we definitely see (both in-game and through monitoring) situations where client and server performance degrade significantly when under high load. The small incremental changes we’ve made over the last year have helped, but they alone are not enough. So, we’re going to change our strategy a bit – which is the point of this post.
Simply put, Azura’s Star (the non-Champion Point campaign) runs much better, more efficiently, and is overall a much better PvP experience than the standard campaigns such as Trueflame or Haderus. Now that we’ve had a significant population density in Azura’s Star, we strongly suspect what has been theorized for a long time: Champion Rank passives and abilities are causing too much server load, especially in situations like Keep battles where there are tons of players in one place.
Because of this, we are going to run a series of PvP performance tests, and because it is impossible to simulate PvP load on our internal test servers (or on PTS), we will do this on all live servers on the dates of February 27 – March 6. This is not something we take lightly, and it is important that we evaluate performance when the server is under real-world load situations.
Our first test will be set up as follows:We encourage all players to continue their PvP activities in their respective Home, Guest, and Friends campaigns – we will be taking feedback and monitoring data on a daily basis during this test, and look forward to reading your constructive posts about server performance during the time of the test.
- For a period of one week, all Champion Points will be disabled on all Campaigns on all platforms and megaservers
- During this time, AP gains in all Campaigns will be doubled, both to compensate for lack of CP and also to incentivize players to PvP so we can record as much data as possible
- Campaign durations and leaderboards will not be adjusted during this week
The results of this test will determine the next course of action for refining Cyrodiil server performance. Thank you for your perseverance and patience – we thoroughly appreciate your time, efforts, and feedback!
Thanks again, and see you in Cyrodiil!

That was one of focuses in 2017 ..... Ok so have our answer now as in no answer....We were never told of the results we were never told anything after this .... We were just left hanging the rest of 2017 ....
2018....... People have left PVP in larger numbers IMO In early 2018 Shore could post 3 bars straight across during primetime and 2 bars almost every night .... Now its down to 2 bars on the weekends during primetime and 1 bar most of the week...
Whats in store in 2019 well... declining population .... frustration and people moving to new games in the near future... I personally will stay away from games with some of the people that have been associated with this one.... I love this games concepts and everythying about it except (PERFORMANCE)
Camelot Unchained is the biggest threat to ESO and ZoS failed to see it. 4 years ago there were people talking about it and we all knew what was going to happen when it was officially launched.
ZoS had 4 years to fix the lag, instead they took the easy route of selling chapter after chapter. CU is now just around the corner... and there's no way ESO will dare to compete against that monster.
ZOS had the exact same hype about ESO that CU has had. DO you really think CU will be able to hold up tp their promise? ESO didn't, why should CU?
@ZOS_BrianWheeler
Whats the deal dude?
Can we get a response?
Gonna keep this necro going until I get an answer or you close the thread and admit that you give 0 ***.
ZOS' statement is a perfect example of telling their player base what they want to hear and then doing absolutely nothing. Its 2019 now ask yourself what issues have they fixed?

It even got me excited a little. Maybe they found the uber-fix for lag issues in PvP.
Edit: nvm. They only talk of PvE: "As such, next year’s story and adventure will be something truly special for all Elder Scrolls Online players. We are so excited to be able to share it with you soon, and we can’t wait to see how you all put all the pieces together starting early next year."
So probably nothing for PvP. Bummer

Devs aren't incompetent as same may think, they know how to fix lag, but there's one problem- fixing it costs too much. All they can do is bandage fixes.

It costs too much? They could giveaway 1 million dollars to a player, but this costs too much?

They don't have to take the game offline to fix it. They already have all of the code that needs to be rewritten, streamlined and optimized. The live game is not the only version of it that they have.

Maybe the plan is to keep having double AP events until everyone is so sick of the lag all but 100 people quit and then they have good performance on an empty map.
They lied about this game going free to play. They lied about not charging for expansions for subscribers. DLCs, chapters, whatever same thing. They lied about the advertising for this games pvp capabilities. They lied about what the end game would be. They lied about Perma banning the CE users. They lied about fixing the bot problem. They lied about the lighting patch. If you're an oceanic player out of Hawaii using spectrum they lie about why the patcher doesn't work and tell everyone to use a VPN. They lied about their player count. They claim they have 11 million accounts. How many are active? They won't tell you that. Lies, lies, lies. Crooks.
