Didn't they just confirm battlegrounds as the next patch? So we will finally have a pvp update since IC.

I really wonder if it would also take more than a week to fix if it had been mobs in a PvE Dungeon that were invisible! Seems that being unable to see 10% of the PvP players is no big thing and can wait more than a week to get resolved.

A guy challenged a friend to a duel, but my friend was invisible to him upon arrival. It was quite a convenient opportunity to test.
This workaround is consistent with the invisible ally bug which has existed for several patches.
