    It's not an assassin class, it's a class with unique access to stealth. The class has no entitlement to 0 gameplay kills. That would be ridiculous.

    take dueal as nb agains dk, templar or sorc, they all have many counters to cloak especially sorc with spam curse on you, you are then without cloak, so no dmg shields, no any class good heal, no anything than this cloak which is not working as intendeed in half of the time its easy peasy to fast kill nb while dk ofc in heavy armor, very good survivability with sustain, magplar same with survivability , sorc also...meh, only nb...just dont let him to use cloak and spam light attacks is enought to finish him without problems

    Cloak is not supposed to be a toggle to combat, it's supposed to have counter measures. NB is just 1 out of 4 classes, it's not a "I get to do what I want with impunity because I play a rogue class." It's meant to be played for the win, not handed the win by virtue of their class type.

    so for what is cloak if it should work in combat? give to nb a damage shield and great heal skill instead of cloak which is not supposed to work in combat.

    same I cxan say about damage shield from sorc, this should work in combat because for what? stacked they have to big power, breath of life templar is huge heal which should be to healing outside combat in break of fight between bosses, trash etc to not wait until health will regen itself + where are potions/poisons to prevent use damage shields etc?

    I think we may have a language barrier. When I say it's not supposed to be a toggle to combat I mean that cloak is not supposed to be a button that you press that just ends the fight. It is supposed be something you work for, and comes with counterplay. For example templars are a healing class, but there are defiles to help counter that healing. It's not intended for Templars to just be able to heal through all damage and never die because they are a healing class. They have counters in place to prevent that, so that hopefully all classes have a balance of viability toward the other classes. No class is entitled to be the other classes checkmate, the check mate comes internally through build and morph choices.

    Here’s an explanation of how it works, and what it does and doesn’t do:

    Everything that is described in the Addon's features on the website as well as your analysis, is actually quite interesting. The reason I say this is in Daybreak's Planetside 2, every feature you described and described by the addon's author is actually a BASE functionality to Planetside 2's User Interface.

    Furthermore they provide a TCP/IP based API to allow their website and 3rd party websites to track in realtime such events across all of their servers for posterity and analysis.

    The end result is players can see what killed them and why through analsysis. They can use overlays such as Recursion Realtime Stattracker (authorized by Daybreak to use over PS2) as a bit of a HUD to give them more informaiton about what, why, and how things are happening around them.

    It also provides their Game Moderators (GMs) with an interesting deputized tool. To explain what I mean by this, I have to tell a little short story of something that happened:

    I was browsing alert (alerts are bonus PVP events that give a boon to your empire, sort of like capturing an Elderscroll in Cyrodil) statistics on a 3rd party site. I noticed an anomaly. A burst fire weapon had ended up in the top 3 most killing weapons in the alert. That threw my data off. Furthermore.. it showed something else. The accuracy of the weapon was well over 90%. Impossible. Burst Fire weapons are used rarely and like most rifles, don't usually see above 40% accuracy. I also noticed that most kills were by headshots. Cheating going on? Well I delved a bit deeper to see what happened.

    I was able to identify the user of the weapon. I looked up his user stats on the official PS2 website and was able to identfiy when he used the burst weapon. Same server and timeframe as the alert in question. All headshots, all on the same victim, all within seconds of the previous kill.

    Not cheating. Stat padding. Imagine a buddy in Cyrodil who runs up to you and lets you kill him over and over. I'm sure this is against the rules by Zenimax as well.

    Anyway, I took all my evidence, all my screenshots, and urls and sent them into support for a GM to look at. They thanked me for my ticket and off I went.

    Well.. what happened to the guy? Well of course customer service cannot divulge that info. But I checked each day for a week to see if the person had logged in. He didn't. It was exactly 168 hours since CS thanked me for my report that the guy logged back in.

    I assume he got a 7 day ban (7 times 24 is 168) for stat padding. Probably saw a rollback as well but that is beyond what the API could tell obviously.

    Moral of the story is. While these addons and API's can give a player a considerable advantage to someone in some cases. They can provide invaluable tools to players and GM's in the form of evidence gathering. And simply alerting when something screwed up happens.

    Of course its going to be up to you developers how much of pandora's box you want opened. There is far more number crunching going on in ESO than PS2. In PS2 a 200dmg weapon does 200 damage degraded over a minimum distance and is adjusted by 10, 15, 20, or 25% based on player armor ranks. Not 10000 or 6728, or 23895 resistance lowering a 1132 or a 1090 weapon and yeah you all get the idea.

    But I figured I'd give the bit of insight so you can make a better informed decision. Personally I'll support either way you wish to go. I see the merits in both. Hopefully other players can as well.

    Regardless of if one believes the addon capabilities are good or not, I think it is terrific of the author that it was publicly released. Until now, this capability was really only available to those who were using it "privately". At least now it is out in the open.

    cloak at all have that many counters so you canprevent other nb going into hide for all time of this fight

    and in back to you "problem" with mine 2 cents about 1shouting nb from stealth..

    rogue class, so good mobility with stealth etc, perfect combination to ganging, at all its only class possible to effective ganging and most people are playing on nb only for this, so if will be not possible to 1shot someone then nb will be much useless on pvp

    while we have tankly classes with tankly build who also have not low damage and can kill you but you have problem with kill them...at all its hard to kill them.

    we have fake tankly build based on just heavy armor for more armor and thats all, just more resistances, they sacriface not much damage to more resistances to harder kill them

    ofc gang a true tank is and impossible and shouldnt be possible but why then we shouldnt 1shot someone from stealth?

    and to addon...if it is showing me when someone is entering to stealth its clear I will instantly start buffing etc and then chance to gang me will be less and almost impossible because of buffs

    normally tank who dont know anything is able to gang gim, ofc not with 1shot, if he is to slow to fast break free then you have chance to finish him
    now this tank will see you around if you will enter into stealth also behind wall or something and then he is full buffed and ehh...only way for you is just leavy him or he will also look for you and rekt, this is now stupid.

    you have radiant mageligh which is often used on stam builds to defend from gang, now you have addon which will tell you you are possible to gang by someone and you dont need before spam skill to prevent gang on you

    so its time to go play often on templar with radiant spam or other tankly class because gangers will be now much less problem and less playable because it not effective while anyone can know you are near in stealth

    I have yet to have anyone explain that to me in a rational or logical way. This game is the only game aside from FPS I have ever seen a player be able to do that, simply kill another player within < 1 second and then scurry off.

    Every MMO has rouges and gankers, sure, but they are not instagibs. They at least give you a second to recognize where the attack is coming from and do something about it.

    This addon, I assume, was made to provide that basic tool, to know when you are about to be killed instantly.

    I won't use it because I don't use addons, but I understand the need for it.
    Tl;dr really weigh the fun you have in game vs the business practices you are supporting.

    Thank you for the detailed reply. Have there been any internal discussions, or any upcoming plans, to institute a no add-ons or no UI PVP campaign?

    There are quite a few people who truly enjoy the barebones original UI but are forced into using both add ons and "floaty number" ZOS made UI upgrades in order to maintain competitive balance.

    You're welcome! Unfortunately, it isn't currently possible to disable addons for just one campaign and not the others.

    Also, quadruple sized elephant mounts that can carry siege and a merchant. Haha. One thing at a time though. :-)

    here we see in the above example that zenimax examined the event in detail and decided that they were not able to recode it as simply as they wanted to and allowed it to continue.
    thus even going as far as to call it "intended" and "an ability to increase damage"

    the end result:

    it is cheating, but, if worded properly with a golden tongue it is then considered "the norm" and allowed to take place even tho many reject it's existance.

    You dont get it, if someone is about to insta gib you like you said, you will still die whether you use the addon or not.
    The addon doesnt decrease the amount of burst you get from someone running that kind of setup.

    If im using line of sight on your area not even stealth, and you have not seen me but I buff and I charge a heavy attack, WHY should you know that I'm doing it when you are not aware of me being there to begin with? WHY should you get a list of players around you that you havent seen yet because they are either LoSing you or because you dont have enough awareness to know about it?

    That's the flaw, and the fact you get to know who is, and also the fact that the addon provides a clear advantage over the people who doesn't use it. It is ridiculous and not just from a nightblade point of view.

    at all here in ESO if you dont fast kill your target fast as possible or atleast if he had more health/armor finish him with 2nd attack then its mostly you are unable to do him more, you can just run...or in mostly situations you are dying because of many counter or not working cloak.

    in other mmo's you can or easily escape with fail or still you have chance to finish him while here if you dont finish him you will never finish him with this failgang or you have not hight chance to escape because of as I wrote, broken cloak+ many counters to this

    There is a lot more addons then this that might raise an ear . This one seems tamer then some of the more intrusive ones out there . There was one that was radar awhile back tat used footstep sounds to track enemy stealthed players . You could tell when you were spotted without detection pots . Very nasty intrusive addon . There are more and like already stated mostly secret .

    It's a shame some of these exist as in my opinion they can and very often do give an unfair advantage over other players . I'm aware when I walk into Cyrodiil cheating exists and con never be stopped completely . I go in telling myself it's going to happen and if I'm not in the mood to deal with , PvP in a monitored game , not here . Saves me a whole lot of upset . So no salt here at all . I have a choice .

    Where it still busts the game, for a lot of players would be an example of:

    Im roaming Cropsford (alone as usual) unknown to me (cause im turning in a quest etc) a player spots me as they come to cropsford.

    They enter stealth - normally I'm still unaware, opponent sneaks up and attacks

    Now with this addon I'm alerted the moment that player enters stealth, as I'm all alone I know it's after me.

    I hit surge, ward etc.

    More than likely the poor fool that's stealthed is now the one at a disadvantage! Because he doesn't know I know he's there, when he attacks it's gonna be bad for him! He doesn't get an add on saying "They know you're there!"

    It doesn't need to tell me like a radar where he is, all I need to know that he is there.

    Or to be a jerk I could just pop a detect pot and get on horseback and ride in widdening circles till the player is found.

    Not to mention if it gets a player's name, if I killed that player and I'm alerted the player went stealth Im pretty sure he is after me.

    The opposing player is then very confused as to why his stealth is broken, makes a forum account and makes a thread, where we all tell him it's working as intended just like the 3 months we knew about it.

    First let me thank @ZOS_JessicaFolsom and other members of ZOS team who reverse engineered my addon and laid out what exactly it does in a clear manner.

    Now let me comment on the addon, my intentions and the result in a Q&A style:


    Q: How this addon came to be?

    A: In the current state of stealth ganks in PVP right now, unfortunately we're facing the situation when no amount of crit resistance will save you from a guy one-shotting you from stealth if you're running medium or light armor. At some point i had a thought that i would be awesome if ZOS changed the stealth mechanics to make channeled abilities to get you out of stealth at the beginning of their cast instead of when they hit something.

    I made some tests and realized that the game already provides the event for when the attack starts. The event contains full information about the attack including source and target names.

    Knowing that making an addon what pops a notification on this event was trivial. At this point i already realized this gonna be big, but i didn't know yet how big it would end up being.

    But i still had to figure out how to know if he was in stealth, while charging this attack. I did more tests i found out a way to do that. That way though opened a 'Pandora Box'. I figured out that know i can get much more information than just whether the guy is in stealth or not. And so i did:)

    After i did all that i realized that even though i know the name of the attacker and a bunch of other info about him i can't get any information out of the name itself. I don't know his faction, class - basically nothing besides his name. Thus, quite naturally i came up with the concept of database. The database was the link between 'somebody' doing actions in the world and a particular person having char name, account name etc etc.

    Only the combination of all these discoveries allowed me to build the addon the way i wanted.

    And here it is.


    Q: Do you find any of the features of the addon unfair?

    A: No i don't. I made them exactly to make the pvp environment both more clear and more fair. This is coming from a guy mainly playing stam nb.


    Q: Did you know many people would be against this addon when you open it to public?

    A: I definitely did. This addon changes the way people experience Cyrodiil quite drastically. What i see on the forums now was expected (besdies detailed post of @ZOS_JessicaFolsom ). In my mind the addon makes Cyrodiil a better pvp experience. Your definition of 'better' might be different. I accept that.


    Q: Did you expect ZOS to make some actions to prevent some or all the features of the addon to work in the result of the complaints?

    A: Yes i did. I wasn't an easy decision to make this addon public. Not because i wanted to keep the addon for myself. I didn't and i don't. I released it as soon as it was ready and thoroughly tested.

    The only real reason for my hesitation was that i was afraid of knee-jerk reaction from developers. If i were them i'd disable the addon on the spot and only THEN started the internal discussion on what parts of it can be allowed:)

    A: The addon is supposed to make the playfield between stealthers and non-stealthers more even. Not the playfield between me and everybody else:) I truly want everybody to use it and enjoy its perks.

    Basically i'd be happy if ZOS added some (all) of its features to the base ui (or allowed it to be). Can we do it, dear ZOS?:)

    I agree that stealth detection feature will be over the top IF and ONLY IF ZOS fixes stealth ganks and stealth in general. In my personal opinion attacking from stealth is huge advantage in itself. Now add oneshots to the picture and stealths becomes out of control. And this is what we have now in pvp. This is my opinion. I'm aware there can be other opinions. This is fine.

    I implemented the features the addon has because i personally wanted them to be in the game. I find them fun and engaging. Other people might disagree. That's fine. This is my vision.

    A: I will make some other addon if the game will still be engaging enough for me. I'd be happy if we can find a happy medium here though, where some features will be allowed to stay. But i'm prepared to 'accept my fate':)

    @Dorrino if now everyone will see when you charging your attack from stelth and then fast they comming intodefense and you have very small chance to kill someone froms tealth....new blazingplar comming into cyrodil! eventually heavy armored tankly dk as just on of the best chars to open fight, I see less population of easy ap from NB etc just because you have eyes in back your head and have you a magical eye which see when someone is going into hide behind rock or something and you see while invisible attack is charging into you, very damn logical.....

    now waiting for addon which will automaticallly cast any hard cc after cc immune end on your target
