Is there anything more overrated than Maelstrom weapons? Your almost always better off with two full armor sets, or a set and monster helm... especially with the new insane proc sets.

Also... a sharpened lightning staff on a heavy attack magicka build
it can add 3-4k dps... just from holding heavy attack.

Yep i have everything in charged, it's so exciting opening the box and seeing all the potentially good weapons, scrolling down and reading Charged... and then wonder why i wasted more of my life in this futile endless endeavour.

Defending 2h is pretty rare I'm finding. I actually want a defending inferno for backbar or an ice staff even. But it's proving quite rare judging by this thread.

Out of about 20 runs this event, have gotten a sharpened bow, 3 precise daggers, 2 precise axes, 2 powered resto staves and a sharpened resto stave as anything either BiS or close to it.

Still holding out for a sharpened dagger or axe or even the illusive sharpened inferno so I can have two for max deeps, but am mainly focused on getting under 50 minutes and flawless.

I wanted to add this. I can fill in my blanks when i update from my notebook.

1st number is total runs, 2nd is runs under event... The grind for a vma sharp inferno is real...

I will update my list later today, however, in 59 total runs during the event, I received one sharpened destro staff.... and it wasn't an inferno.

I think if anything, this has exposed what we all knew was an issue with the RNG drops in VMA and how badly some type of exchange system is needed.

I am not sure if you are just messin around or if you really don't know. Even after the dual weild nerf vMA stam weapons are worth more than 10k over the next best thing to a stam dk or sorc, less to NB or Templar as they have a good class spammable. Since I tend to think that stam DK's and stam sorcs are far preferable to the other two provided they have vMA weapons it would be hard to overrate them as they are worth 25% of your dps in many cases. No other 2 5 peice sets together are close to those numbers better than the next option and were talking that benefit from just the weapons.

As for magic dps, sure the inferno everybody wants is only a 2 point something k increase but that is still a huge increase from one item. There is no magica 5 peice set with a 5th piece bonus that good. Beyond that, the lightning staff enables the whole infal / vMA DK heavy attack build which is a pretty cool build and easy as hell to run compared to just about anything else.

I am sure you are not talking about the resto or tank weapons as I don't think things that are not rated as useful are not really over rated.

Are you speaking purely about pvp? I would argue the bow and greatsword are sure worth their weight in gold there as the buff very nicely abilities already on slot and very good (in the case of crit charge almost laughably OP.) I can see your point of view with the OP as hell proc sets but you are very much underrating vMA gear in PVP nevertheless and in PVE it is indispensable.

I first cleared Vet Maelstrom a couple months ago, but started running it a bit more obsessively once I found out about the double drops with the Orsinium event.

I never got very good at it and my best score has only been about 410k. Each run still took me about 1.5-2 hrs, but I was determined to take advantage of this event and do my best to get a sharpened greatsword. After 57 drops in 36 runs (15 runs were pre orsinium event), I finally got lucky last night and got my drop!

I was in party chat with a friend while doing the run and we were talking about the outrageous prices of some sharpened weapons at guild traders. As I go to open the final chest, I jokingly stated that I would pay 1 million gold for a sharpened maelstrom greatsword.

The RNG Gods must have heard me and blessed me with my desired drop! I felt that it would be good karma to follow through with my statement, so I wanted to give my friend some gold so he could purchase the weapons he wanted. He is no mooch so it took a little convincing, but he accepted a 500k donation towards his cause.

Anyhow, just wanted to share that experience. I definitely won't be playing VMA obsessively anymore, but I may return periodically to see if I can get some of the other sharpened weapons.

Finally got a dagger and it was sharpened!!! Got a sharpened battleaxe with it too.

Plus sharpened bow 2 days ago. Most of the other drops were trash though, except for powered resto staff. Which brings up the question:

Which vma resto staff trait is better, powered or precise?

Sharpened Bow and Maul ( in like 30 runs ) so imagine without event.
Drop rate here just makes people don't run it anymore.

28 runs and only 7 didn't have a bow or resto in the loot table. Only Ice staffs and no fire. Apparently the only benefit of double loot weekend was to go ahead and get your obligatory bow or resto out of the way for a chance at something else.

Keep putting up your drops even though the double loot is over. With more data I suspect we will see begin to see some weight between weapon versions like fire,ice and lit staffs.
