Penalty for dying : What about a CD on soulgems ?

Hey !

Actually, there's absolutly no penalty for dying since rezing is quite fast and there's no cooldown on soulgems, what would be a good option in your opinion ?

    why should there be any penalty????

    I am totally ok with how it is now!

    And in PVP there is a penalty actualy, you can not respawn using soul gem all the time, but have to port to nearest keep.


    resing by an another player is ok, it takes some time to do it, but too long in my opinion!

    Together with being able to place camps nearly everywhere, everyone is able to using an unlimited amount of soul gems, so it's close to impossible to clear an area if your own group is significantly smaller compared to the enemy one.
    Rezzing in this game is way too fast and comes without any penalty.
    Imagine you clear the top of a keep, and while you're on the way down they already start rezzing each other. They got enough people to do so. You cleared the flag just to see the group you recently killed standing on top. You go to the top and story repeats itself. As a small group you simply don't got the manpower to block them permanently from rezzing.

    Don't see any reason why people are against a penalty or at least a limitation.

    Something like:
    - after you use a soul gem you can't use an another one for a minute, just like a cooldown
    - this cooldown should also start for the person who got rezzed

    This prevents that a single survivor is able to bring back his whole raid in the middle of a keep.

    Yep I agree. It would be a change that actually benefits the outnumbered side for once. Here are examples of what a fight is like with and without a cooldown systems:

    Sad story without a cooldown system.

    Let's say i'm in an 8 man group with Mojican and we are alone defending a keep against 40 EP. We manage to kill 20 of the 40 EP, but in the process Mojican dies for some reason or another, but no need to worry, because there is no rez penalty we are able to rez him again. We then go to the other side of the keep and wipe the remaining 20 players. When we turn around we see the first 20 we killed are alive again, so we go and kill them again, we turn around and the other 20 are alive again and another 20 reinforcements have arrived from nikel. Now there are 3 different groups of 20 that keep rezzing... etc. Eventually the whole group gets overwhelmed as we are unable to kill faster then they can rez and don't have the man power to camp bodies and we all die.

    Same story with a cooldown system.

    Let's say i'm in an 8 man group with Mojican and we are a lone defending a keep against 40 EP.
    Mojican dies for some reason or another and I am unable to rez him for a whole minute. What a tragedy! Despite this huge loss to our group, we still managed to kill 10 of the 30 EP, which will be unable to rez for a whole minute either. Not needing to camp bodies, we continue to push on and defeat another 10 EP on the other side of the keep. One minute has now passed and we go back and rez Mojican but the first initial 10 EP have rezed, bringing the total back to 20. With our added strength we are able to wipe the remaining 20 EP and the battle is won!


    TL;DR: It's more beneficial to sacrifice a Mojican for a whole minute than have a large enemy force continually rez with no penalty. @manny254

    There's already a cooldown on forward camps, which is cool. But I think adding cool downs on soul gems is going a little far. Perhaps just make their resurrection time 100% slower than normal for an amount of time after death. They should have an indication of this, as people will probably just not even bother resurrecting them if they're fighting until the resurrection sickness goes away.

    If a penalty then only if you are killed by less people than your group size. But I don't want to have to lay around dead because some reds think 48 vs 2 is a fair fight

    Being chased by 50 enemies while running a 10-12man squad - this current system is an issue..

    Pulling the pugs to a choke point - slaughter the first wave of 25 man - fall back to regroup/ressource management - before we manage to impact for a second wave, the first wave been ressed and your back fighting 10-12 vs 50. This keeps getting repeated.
    After a good 10 min fight, these enemies no longer give good exp and yet they persist to fight you. So either you flee for your life and hope the 20 people gapclose spamming wont kill any of the current 10-12man group you run. Or you Yolo and die, cus they keep ressing in your face - and you wont have unlimited ressources.

    Seeing this from a premade perspective - It's an issue :)

    Add CD please, there is no sense to fight and kill players if they can be rezzed indefinitely...

    CD rez system is more than logical. For small group like 10-12 mans, managing better than a big organised/random group, there is any way for success an action. Furthermore, if this system existed, people would have to play more safety, properly, and not yolo mode, engaging any enemies because they know they will be rez.

    Get back into the game, most people want to play, maybe in the past when mmo's were more hardcore this might have been ok, just don't think harsh penalties of any kind would fly in todays market.

    not being able to be rezzed for a minute doesn't seems that harsh tho. there's a respawn CD in IC, there's 5mn CD on camp, I think a minute is reasonnable on soulgems, but then again, my opinion

    I'm not opposed to a cool down...

    However those players that sit on the keep walls with 20 balistas shooting your 5 guys instead of coming down to fight and risk getting a respawn timer, we will just see more of that. Or your factions PuG that stands outside a breach and never pushes in cause respawn timer. I don't want to see even more of those two situations.

    its not a respawn timer - feel free to spawn at a keep with no CD. this regardings them soulgem spammers.

    In my original idea no. You die on the battlefield you have three choices : camp with 5 minutes CD, soulgem with 1 mn CD or run again, would be pretty fair.

    I don't think you ever experiment to kill 2 groups of 24 people as a 12 man group in an outpost.



    I'm seeing this from the PVE side aswell, If a penalty like this one would exist, some ppl might have to "watch their steps" to quote ZOS. That might help some players to improve but not be too harsh, 1mn is not that much of a big deal

    There is a penalty alot if the time.

    Pvp and group dungeons/trials, the penalty is someone haste res you or you have to wait until the fight is over...

    Would rather see a debuff applied once ressed with a soulgem that doesn't allow you to be ressed again via soulgem for 1-2 minutes. Too much bs going around that applying the penalty instantly would be too much on the harsh side imo. Problem to me is zombie hordes, not ressing itself.

    I say ZOS should concentrate on the core problem in most campaigns.. POPULATION BALANCE.

    You guys talking about giving people penalty for dying.. shame on you.

    Example:

    6 players in one faction vs 30 players. 30 players come in and destroy the only 6 players on the faction and you want to penalize them for dying?

    I don't know how many times I have seen it over and over a poplock vs 1 bar, or a poplock vs 2 bars. Or 1 bar vs a poplick and 3 bars.

    ZOS needs to fix the real problems in this game.. before fixing issues as small as 'omg this guy rezzed after I killed him'.
