Wow costume dyes require crown store or ESO plus ?

That would mean that it would cost you $156 for 9000 crowns while you rent the game for it's extra bonuses (craft bag, xp, etc.)
It would cost you about $200 worth of rent to be able to actually buy all the DLC, as opposed to spending $80 and owning it all. Subbing may be "better" if you like all the other stuff associated with it but it's certainly not cheaper then buying crown packs and owning the dlc.
Edited the amount and adjusted the text accordingly as the amount I had before was wrong. The amount of Crowns earned in a six month sub is actually 9,000 Crowns. Not 4,500 Crowns. I had the right number before, but I looked at the info on the official site's store page wrong (it should reeeally just tell you the Crowns you get from each monthly sub instead).

✭✭✭✭✭I solved the problem for me with what I consider(ed) greedy behavior with looking at it from a different perspective. As long as I compare what it might cost them to what I have to pay for it, this will just lead to frustration. But when I look at how much entertainment I get out of the subscription compared to other forms of entertainment, this is a bargain and I am happy.

I'd expect any cosmetic/convenience to be crownstore purchases. They announced that is exactlt what the CS was for. Soon as I firdt ever hear it's something they wanted to implement (barbourshop) i kinda knew it was for the crown store.

no, i am not paying anything extra - I had to pay subscription before there was the option to dye costumes and I will have not a dime more when it will arrive - so it does not cost me anything extra - same price, but an extra feature more.
You made the decision to buy a non-dyable costume, and that is what you got, and what I got as well. Now there is a new feature, which is limited and costs extra for those non-subscribed, but is free for those who are subscribers - given that we have to pay as well, if we would want the stamp for a given color set, where we might not have the color for already.
So if you look at it like that, you got something extra for free as well - namely the option to dye a so far undyable costume. That feature does not come for free, but the option comes for free. fact of the matter is read the ToS you dont own anything ZoS could decide to pull the plug on ESO tomorrow and you would not be entitled to anything so techinally even if you buy the DLC you are still renting it. https://account.elderscrollsonline.com/terms-of-service
