Light Attacking is Broken? (and animation priority)

    Ive had that happen with my bow.

    So, I am not the only one who experience this! Light attack weaving with any weapon feels massive delay. The combat feels sluggish for me currently. I had to wait for light attack to animate only then I can press my ability otherwise, one of them not firing up properly.

    I would also like to add the LA weaving problem gets significantly worse when you try to medium weave between spells. Sometimes it even locks up and charges all the way to a full heavy attack before firing. Super annoying especially when you need to switch targets quickly.

    While I have not had an issue with light attacks, I do get locked into heavy attacks on my restoration staff a lot since Thieves Guild. Blocking or dodge rolling doesn't pull me out of it, I have to wait for the attack to decide to end before I can do anything else except walk or jump.

    Yes this, I think it has something to do with your targeted enemy dying and you switching targets before it it actually registers that previous enemy died. Again super annoying especially when you need to burn other adds down.

    Please address the issue @ZOS_JessicaFolsom I think this is happening on all platforms well at least for me on PS4 since thieves guild.

    All I know is something is up with the feel of combat. I haven't gotten to play enough to figure it out but everyone in my group immediately noticed that "something" was off. It almost seems like animation times for skills were no longer, or like the hard action window between attacks/skills was made longer. I can't quite put my finger on it but "something" is different.

    Most times it works as fine as always, sometimes you have to take a big break...
    Destro light attacks were always bad, cause you could do medium weaving as fast as successfull light weaving.

    Something similar to this was happening to me early on in the PTS. Whenever I equipped a poison and it procced on a weave attack, it would suddenly prevent me from using anything for a noticeable chunk of time. I asked other people in the zone if they were having the same problem and it seemed like I was the only one, so I didn't bother putting in a report about it.

    I feel like the same way just tried to maelstrom and all of the delays from light attacking and bar swapping is getting me killed over and over in content that I'm very familiar and good at. The lag from staff I can't tell if it's ping related or they just broke it. I assume the latter since it's happening everywhere and bot just in malestrom.

    Perhaps an unrelated, but possibly the same issue - in pvp when using resto to light attack to build ult sometimes they get backlogged, nothing happens for 4-6 seconds, and then they all animate like a machine gun. It's most noticeable when defending an inner keep and tagging people below for ult as LA is all I'm doing. This is something that started in the TG patch for me, it's not a new bug.

    @Nifty2g did they fix sweeps? I also heard reports that Jesus beam is weaker than usual?

    I thought combat felt a little weird as well. My attacks seemed a little off and slow with my 2h weapons.

    The back log is certainly not a new you are correct but the changes to light attacks have severe delays along with LA into a bar swap.

    Combat and animations in general feel extremely clunky at the moment. I noticed last night running prison that if you're on a dual wield bar spamming aoe's and quickly barswap over to a staff occasionally you would get like a stutter and freeze then eventually everything would catch up.

    Not enjoying these new animation changes tbh

    This video shows just normal light attacking and then "weaving" light attacks with an ability, you start to see the light attack start locking and wont go off after awhile. You also notice there is a considerable amount of delay between light attacking and using your ability

    I'm sorry Zenimax whatever combat change was made, or if it is a bug with staves but this is almost unplayable for most people, I can't see my character doing anything in the last video, everything is interrupting itself. What is causing this, is it intended?

    Have this same issue with 2H and bow. Seems that light/heavy attacks are either canceling skills or the skills are completely negating the light/heavy attacks.

    Noticed this very distinctly in PvP last night. Posted it on a different thread. Seems that their fix to skill animation actually made the combat far less fluid than it was. Which was something they stated they did not want to do. Hope they look into this as its a complete timing change over how the game has been since... forever.

    Having the same issues while weaving between flurries on stamina DK, it seems the animations are getting caught up in the light attack and just freezing for a moment.

    Can you please tell them to revert the new animation prioritization? It's awful. Coupled with the reduced movement speed which hasn't been fixed the whole combat feels so clunky and slow and sluggish.

    I've got this too. Using 2h and bow but noticing it way more with my 2h. When I do a light attack when hit a Surprise Attack it feels like they're bleeding into one another, I'll only see the LA animation but I'll hear the SA going off, it's incredibly annoying. Also have higher ping than those in the US so I wouldn't be surprised if it is why.

    Can confirm these laggy/clunky buggy animations are happening for me as well in australia. It also happens for 2h, bow and all staffs. I really hope they revert these animation priority changes sometimes it feels nearly unplayable if you are from australia where the best ping possible you can get is 250 but average 300

    weapon attacks seem 20% slower or something, seems unresponsive and clunky combat now, revert the animations back to how they were! this and the added cost of skills and ultis now going off. this is *** up. combat is a disaster. its just weird now stuff doesnt go off when you tell it to in the order you press etc and light/med/ attacks are slower. REVERT this sneaky change - it doesnt make sense and no one asked for it!

    Luckily I experienced no such issue on my mag blade dual wield or my SnB DK or my stam blade dw yesterday... Hmmm.. Then again I normally have pretty decent ping except in cyro primetime.... Or maybe its only tied to staves. Not too sure.

    This is definitely a problem, light attacking with Resto staff is completely buggy now.
