Light Attacking is Broken? (and animation priority)

    You must not be weaving. This is happening to everyone la weaving regardless of ping. My ping is good and my swallow soul is getting stuck or not going off when la weaving duel wield swords. There is like this weird delay where I'm la weaving faster than the combat engine can ingest. Resulting in my character freezing than spazzing and damage being calculated all at once.

    Yeah after playing some more in prime time I"m seeing the problem occur more frequently. Bars stagger and lock mid attack. Happened to me 3 times in the span of one vWGT run. There's something awry here.

    Well I do animation cancel with block and its perfectly fine, my toon barely moves when i use skills and everything fires off 100% of a time, so it must be something with light/medium attacks.

    Thank you, that of course makes perfect sense in the context of the game. It's one of those situations where you hear the same letters used in a different context frequently and then struggle to think of anything else that it could stand for! Thanks for the clarification. :)

    I have the problem too, since DB light attacks are weird and slow, light weaving is not working very well either.
    Please fix it!

    And now its time for a big: "I told you so" from all PTS players that gave feeback on the matter on animation priority with TG and again with DB.
    They listened at TG, but completly ignored on DB..
    Feedback thread was filled with: game feels slugish, delayed. Weapon swap is not reliable. And the fear of potential buggs this completly redundat unneeded and unwanted change will bring.

    So yeah now we are here ZOS :) gratz really for being stuborn. Hope that extra 0.3 seconds of lightattck animation that is now supposedly shown is worth all the work you will need to make lightattacks actually fire when we need them :)

    And I have no doubt this will get fixed in 3 months time.. Its just I have this massive question: Why even change it if IT WAS WORKING BEFORE! Cause now it not.. props :)

    Please revert the animation changes to the combat system. They were perfectly fine before and now you've 'fixed' something that wasn't broken in the first place.

    Combat is way less fluid, and it looks and feels animatronic in its current state and is extremely unappealing.

    Went into new SO last night and medium attack weaving was just fine (both on Force Pulse and Molten Whip), so maybe it's only the light attacks?

    @ZOS_JessicaFolsom we want some sort of update from you and the animation team. There is many people complaining about this since pts was out and completely ignored now it's gone live and game feels like it's from the 90s :(

    @ZOS_JessicaFolsom I have to agree with the rest of the folk in this thread, combat with DW is now hopelessly laggy and clunky with Light Attacks not working properly, skills sometimes not firing in the order they are used or not at all.

    Combat used to feel fast and fluid, now I'm constantly uncertain if my rotation is going to work at all, which totally breaks my concentration on the fight itself.

    Please revert to the old combat animations, it wasn't broken, please un- "fix" it.

    I dunno... Why is the icd sometimes there and bugs you out and sometimes the weaving will work just fine?

    Combat is a clusterf*** now... It wasnt broken before, so as the above poster said: please un-'fix' it.

    Yes I played last night and weaving has become guesswork using DW after the first attack or so, I'm breaking with blocking to snap out of the freeze/delay on my abilities and using funnel or refreshing paths a lot more as I can't kill more than 3 fast enough. I get all those delays or nothing at all when I go into my remembered finger routines. My first fight 2 lightning beetles finished me, I felt like I'd started playing last week rather than at the official launch. Was looking around for another player lolling at me.
    My fights now look like I slap everyone in the face repeatedly between stabs just to keep some momentum going. Oh and because I block I get a stupid shield taunting me, like ha ha we done a number on you, signed Dark ZOS Brotherhood.

    AN internal countdown? I wouldn't know, but it would explain what I can feel. Trying not to sound like Kurtz, you get a feeling for all the mayhem, death and destruction you deal. I need an internal countdown when I go out drinking.

    While its pretty much happening to everyone weaving regardless of ping, this is exactly what has been happening to me since TG playing from Aus with a ping of around 250. So I'm guessing whatever server client changes they put in with this patch has added some background latency on server calculations that isn't changing your ping.

    While playing last night in Gold Coast I didn't notice anything different Pre-DLC with these attacks. I've always seemed to have a delayed reaction for my Resto staff LA/HA at times. Sometimes it takes 1-3 clicks of the mouse before it kicks in and shows the visible attack.

    Two words: High Ping.

    Welcome to the luxurious life of an ESO gamer in Sydney, Australia on Xbox. I'm on the EU server and crap like this has been happening since I bought the game.

    It has been significantly worse since TG and now it looks to be even worse for DB. I called it last patch.. I said "soon we won't even be able to light attack properly".

    This character "lock-up" happens with:
    - Bar swap
    - Light attack weaving
    - Light attack, bash, block combo
    - Casting shields (hands come together to cast shield and then character stops casting for no reason).

    That is not all that is going on here. I am having issues with it and I am just a few miles from the NA server.

    I was light attacking with a resto as usual and proccing merciless for example and....i clicked 8 times and got 2 thicks...i clicked 3 more and got another thick...merciless came...i pressed 6 times and merciless never fired.

    Then I was trying mobs and for every 10 presses of light resto 1 atrack happened.

    This is hilarious. Cant play stam chars cause the melee doesnt work...cant play magicka ranged cause doesnt work either..Ultimates...the same...doesnt work 7/10 times. Same with swallow soul for example.

    I guess just blade of woe works? o_O



    AND NO...THIS IS NOT A PING THING.

    Honestly, I did not experience it on PTS. PTS actually seemed smoother than live with many little time issues fixed. But I damn sure feel it now. Mine is not just timing or something that could be explained with cooldowns, I am experiencing little freeze-ups in the animation. My toon won't move at all for a second but while that happens the monster gets in a couple of hits. HIS animation does not move either but I hear the sound of the hits and when it's back, I see the damage.

    I'll try to get video but I'm not sure my video capture (shadowplay) is working with the new patch. It did not work last night but I did not spend time trying to troubleshoot it either. Note that it DID work fine in PTS.

    E.g. after poison proc rotation is screwed awhile. I just pew-pew light attacks few times. Highly annoying.
