K here's a comparison between one of the old costumes on same character, and the new costumes. This is all on the same character. You can see massive waist thickening and the bust is widened (like someone whacked a fish eye lens over it) and in some the shoulder area is also rounded off...all taken together giving a very masculine "linebacker" appearance, as if it's a male crossdressing rather than a female in a dress...all of which needs to be fixed. These are costumes I won't buy because they distort the shape of my character so much.

Incidentally I actually gave my character hips in the character creation screen, and in all costumes my characters have boy hips (as in, no hips). Where did my girly shape go? The Corseted Riding Outfit really highlights the oddly boyish hips/thick waist/broadened bust issue very well. That is no woman!

Underneath each image I have provided a quick linked comparison (click normal vs this on each to see the normal body comparison image vs the distorted body costume and flick between both images to more easily see the difference in shape).

    @ZOS_JessicaFolsom

    NORMAL
Character in Dark Seducer (vet 8 reward costume) - this is the "normal appearance", use this image as comparison to the costumes below which all show distortion of the character's body

In a free to play game cosmetics are you leading profit center. But to have two standards, one for the cash shop and one for players who achieve motifs though game play or through the player economy is broken by any standard

They are selling skimpy costumes for people to buy because they can, and people do. Nothing at all "broken" about it. There are not two standards, just the one.

Now, one can debate whether they changed the Redguard and Orc outfits because of the Crown Store, or whether they simply used the Crown Store to restore the skin because people complained. Personally, I don't think that the development and marketing sides of the house were really in sync until this year.

It's broken if you pull some styles due to their improbability or indecency only to introduce even more revealing, more improbable outfits later for cash.

Actually you're right. Broken is the wrong word. Hypocrisy may be a better one....though I prefer something clinical, such as multiple face disorder ;)

However, in all fairness, sticking just with revealing or improbable, we're only talking two styles.

The Dark Seducer outfit was not yanked. It remains sexy, very popular and free.

Along the same lines there is the Encasement of Anguish - similar to the Dark Seducer but just the top. It drops from Dolmans.

The Minotaur Chest motif is interesting. While not bawdy in any way, it captures a hint of gladiatorial erotica and is only obtained in the game.

    But I digress.

What is broken by any reckoning are many regular female armor styles that are wholly disassociated from the female form.

If they're only going to put in half effort to make things in the game then we shouldn't be paying full price to play this game. Playing for free isn't even an option because of the shared reagent bag. It's a must have for anyone who actually plays this game regularly.

Those "female" armors are ugly as sin and they know it. I'm already saddened by the lack of "beautiful" armor as it is but if they're just not going to bother anymore than they should stop charging us so much for a monthly sub or remove it completely.

There is another post asking "Where does our money go?" well it surely isn't to the design team.
Today is a blessing. Yesterday is in the past and tomorrow is a mystery.

It's a shame that in such a beautiful game things like this are overlooked :/

It wasn't just overlooked. It was a conscious design choice to no longer make female character model armor. @ZOS_GinaBruno actually mentioned it on an ESO Live. WHY they decided to cut corners here is a mystery to me. Is the game REALLY doing that poorly financially? Regardless of the reasons, it is a terrible decision and one that was made ON PURPOSE.

I would suggest the first clue as to why took place quite a long time back, and it was when they "re-designed" the Redguard female armors well over a year ago. The level of sheer hate towards females actually looking like females in this game was such and so loud from certain corners that apparently it was necessary? I still don't get it really. All the arguments about "realism" seem completely baseless when you consider there are plenty of male armors showing skin and no ones says a word about how unrealistic those would actually be... at this point I have totally given up on the concept of attractive armor for the game, as most motifs (with rare exceptions now and then) just seem to be pretty much a repeat of each other, with only minor variations here there. Now, on top of the clipping and other issues seems female characters will have to accept looking like they are carrying a 5 month pregnancy just below the collar bone.... really "realistic" addition : P

So... I'd have to cross-dress as a man so I don't have to look at that ugly chest model? Are we all just going to be running around as man-pixels now?

lol they never fixed it did they? They just spout a good verbal game then just hope it gets swept under the rug like the movement speed bug from 6-8 months ago they never fixed either.

That does indeed seem to be the case. I am beyond disappointed about this issue. But this thread seems to have become the "Everything That Is Still Wrong With Female Armor and Clothing" thread. SO I say, keep the pics coming and the pressure on.

I didn't see this thread originally, but boy it is beyond stupid, whoever though this was a valid money saving technique at ZOS should be promptly fired.

People LOVE character customization in games, men and women, and if one gender cares more on average about character appearance and customization its probably women. From a strictly money making decision this is terrible, never mind the whole doing right by your players bit.

Maybe this sounds too hyperbolic for you, but straight up one of the reasons I (male) plays ESO is because it has a more realistic, less cartoony design aesthetic. Making female armor look like it belongs on a male pixar cartoon character is deeply disappointing. Its not about skimpy, for the 100000 time, its about looking human.

How are you going to make money on motifs and costumes if they look like this? So sad.

They fixed one armor (afaik, I dunno if they fixed any other), the Trinimac light chest, and then ruined it again by plastering the stupid wings on it instead of leaving it on the shoulder piece like it used to be.
Just so that everyone knows, my Altmer still can't have black hair. About a dozen of Altmer NPCs in the game have black hair. Just saying.

    Meet my characters:
    Command: Do the thing.

Zadarri, Khajiit Fist of Thalmor: The thing was done, as commanded.
Durza gra-Maghul, Orc blacksmith: The thing was done perfectly, in the most efficient way.
Tegwen, Bosmer troublemaker: You can't prove I didn't do the thing.
Sings-Many-Songs, Argonian fisher: Sure, I'll do the thing... Eventually. Maybe.
Aerindel, Altmer stormcaller: After extensive research, I've come to the conclusion that doing the thing would be a waste of resources.
Liliel, Dunmer pyromancer: Aerindel said I shouldn't do the thing. Something about "resources".
Gyda Snowcaller, Nord cryomancer: I will find a way to do it that won't waste resources and make Aerindel proud of me.
Beatrice Leoriane, Breton vampire: I persuaded someone else into doing the thing. You are welcome, dear.
Sahima, Redguard performer: Doing the thing sounds awfully unpleasant and really not my problem.
Ellaria Valerius, Imperial priestess: I'll pray to the Eight for the thing to be done, if it is Their will.

Yep i have several recently taken screenshots of the armors that remain badly distorted. I'll try to get them up this evening. Should I make a new post since they obviously quit looking at this one?
