Not with any certainty, no. We'll try and get it in the next update, but it is entirely possible it cannot go into that one. There are a lot of moving parts that have to mesh properly for a patch to go Live. Best case: This coming Monday. Worst case: January. In all likelihood, somewhere in between.

As for the "No Stamina While Blocking" change, that change is completely unrelated to this.

Lol, worst case: January. You must have got guts to even say January. This is more game breaking than long loading screen. I just can't think of any major MMOs that has such terrible bug, not to mention let it live for more than one week. Simply outrageous.

Hey folks. We've read through the thread and identified what happened on our end. This turns out to be because the cost scaling for Blocking in the Veteran Rank levels was never scaling as intended. When we updated the Battle Leveling to the new version, the scaling began working as it was intended to.

Unfortunately, that means that Block (and possibly sneak and sprint costs, too, though we have not yet verified that) costs are much higher for players at the highest levels than it has been in the past. So, to correct that we're going to reduce the scaling value so that it will end up approximately the same as the previous cost at VR 16. This means it will actually be cheaper than it was before for all previous levels.

lol I really cannot believe what I've just read.

I do appreciate the fix, but LOL xD

Currently in ESO I'm finding tanking difficult to enjoy. I hate having to ask for shards every 30 seconds, or watching my stamina bar go from full to empty in under 5 seconds when a mob starts ripping into me.

Telling my healer and dps "I got for nothing for a taunt bud, cc and run to me if you have to" over the last couple nights is somewhat depressing.

Sounds like me in vet pledge last night. Watching your group wipe because you have no stamina left to taunt or block or mitigate or do your job is painful.

I've put tanking on hold until they fix the issues.

I was going hop on here last night and say "Good job ZOS! The game is running smooth!", then the load screen got long again, and I started crashing again, and running around looking like I was mounted with my bear below floor level, and then frame rate drops...

At least the first ten minutes of playing felt like it was fixed.

It's an MMO in the ES setting. It has to be balanced. Quit changing this and stealth nerfing playstyles because Poindexter isn't smart enough to figure out animation cancelling, or because Gertrude the Oblivian Champion wants to "beat the game" like on ps3.

I'm tired of people stating that ani-canceling requires intelligence or makes someone a better player. It doesn't. It's button smashing with a smidge of timing (sometimes - I know a lot of people who are ani-cancelers purely by pounding on their keys repeatedly), pure and simple. In fact, ani-canceling requires LESS skill in my opinion, than it does to play the game without it.

    (A) I didn't say animation cancelling requires skill. I said "not smart enough to figure out animation cancelling". I don't understand why you think it takes more skill to so less damage, or to decrease the number of actions your character takes. I guess non optimization is good?

So this is an unintended nerf that potentially will survive until the next combat patch where tanks get nerfed, again? Is this just some sort of weekly meeting where you guys conjure up ideas on how to make content more difficult by figuring out new ways to nerf tanks even further? Is the goal to completely phase tanks out? Then why bother having the role?

Can tanks and our skills, for once, get a BUFF? S&B has gotten exactly one buff since launch - Minor Maim on low slash. That's it. We are already to the point where groups are trying to find ways to go through some of the harder content without a tank because we don't offer that much thus fewer players play them. Have you looked in a zone chat in a major dungeon hub recently? If you spam filter "LF1M tank" you would reduce zone traffic by probably 50%.

I'm wondering what kind of convulted mess their code is if they can't correct the issue quicker than this. Is the cost of blocking tied into dodge roll? S&B skill line? Level? Stam pool? Did someone else write the code for them and now they have to figure out what they bought out of someone's basement?

I'm not a programmer nor do I claim to be one. However, in every other MMO I've played, when an ability was not scaled correctly or the math was off, once they found out about it, it was fixed almost immediately with a 15 minute restart. Not an entire DLC sized patch. Post goes onto the forum, launcher, or in game announcement. Server restarts and you are back in it.

@usmcjdking , what future nerf are you suggesting will occur when the block cost issue is fixed? Has a nerf been announced or do you just feel that it is probably that tanks are nerfed?

While it is not indicative of health gameplay balance, this is exactly the reason why I love playing my tank. Even last year, I could always count on getting a group quickly. Now, as soon as I log on I usually get several PMs asking if I want to do dungeons. Helps that I can heal well and pull decent DPS on top of my other tanky duties, because, as a wise man once said, "PUGs are like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're gonna get."

@ZOS_RichLambert , I am actually nervous that you will ruin my ability to tank even more when the DK redesign is implemented. This shouldn't be the player developer dynamic.

    Monsters with armor penetration.

More armor sets which further increase the efficiency and survivability of DPSers and offer almost nothing to cover the tanks gaps.

CP cap raise providing health gap coverage on inherently non tanky characters.

No adjustments to offensive and defensive capabilities scaling off the same stats.

Further 'balancing' of challenging content based around damage & health numbers that will eventually crush the poorly scaling tank.

S&B still remaining in garbage tier.

Heavy Armor skills still being barely above useless and scaling, once again, tremendously poorly.

Guess we will get the update on consoles after Christmas
