First MMORPG?
Text chat is just as social as voice chat. The difference is, that with text, it is easier to filter out the very anti-social behaviors common on the voice channels. The two methods of communicating work well together and actually promotes more socializing because no one gets left out.

Then you have those that also complain about finding it hard to group because rather than ask over a mic, they go around just pinging random people to group. Unless I'm stood outside a dungeon or inside a dungeon, I never accept random group requests. Because other than that, I'm not a mind reader and have no idea why they'd be pinging me. If people in cities can't be bothered to tell me why they're wanting to group, then i can't be bothered accepting their random requests.

What's easier than just clicking on someone in-game and blocking them? I love how people make out text chat is the only plausible way to block undesirables. It's not. Blocking their gamertag (which takes 5 seconds at most) gets rid of them forever. I'd also see your point completely if all new consoles didn't come with a mic as standard. It's not really my problem or anyone elses problem if someone doesn't want to use a mic just because they don't like using one. If you can't due to circumstances i.e. your partner sleeping next to you, then fair enough, but no point making out text chat is the be all and end all you're making it out to be.
Also, if someone is being a *** via the mic, they tend to act like a *** using chat too.
NO CHAT BOX
Use a mic, or go play on PC.
You can't make that an "optional" thing...
This game on consoles DOES NOT need a chat box people.... stop with this constant begging for it...
ZOS has already stated "We will NOT be putting in a chat box for the console version of the game."
HA. Even I trolled in FFXI.

"r u b grl?"
"Hey evry1, ****** iz a grl!"
Then wait for the feeding frenzy to begin. Every time.

Normally I enjoy the trading process with other players on PC, but there I have already communicated with the player and the terms have been set before the window opens. On console, I dont get the point of random pings for trade? Are we both supposed to just keep throwing various items into the window and hit accept if it looks good? Take it out if it doesnt? All this back and forth looks to me like a good way to hit the wrong button at the wrong time and get scammed. Or maybe we wont have any agreement at all and just wasted each others time.
Console players how do you feel about having no txt chat?
Fine, thank you.
- Now, I don't have to shift between my keyboard and gamepad every two minutes.
- Now, I'm not forced to instant reply to a question from somebody.
- Now, I'm not distracted when fighting a mob.
- Now, my screen isn't populated with a big TextBox taking away the glory of the magnificent graphics below.
- Now, I'm not bugged with hardcore salesmen selling me Vampire Bites and other stuff I don't want.
- Now, I'm not offended by the primitive and barbaric language of some people.
And I'm feeling more fine, because I know they will never install TextChat in this game.
We don’t need TextChat, but we do need better communication functionalities in this game to kill the asocial atmosphere:
- An enhanced and richer mail function
- A better Groupfinder
- Improved VoiceChat
- And an in-game private Guild Forum
