As someone said a few pages ago, Hardened Ward isn't really the problem. The real problem shield is Healing Ward.

Every other shield protects from damage but if you are good player, it only delays the inevitable.

Healing Ward on the other hand, can completely reset a fight in short time.

Is Healing Ward really strong for all classes? Yes. It can make a good magicka Nightblade very strong. Same for DKs and Templars too.

The main advantage a Sorcerer gets using Healing Ward is when it is paired with the mobility from Streak. Because other classes (besides Nightblades which have other weaknesses) are limited in mobility.

I can burst down a 15-20k healing ward if I have to, easy if using an execute, but not when the target can flee to line of sight or even escape out of charge range within seconds.

This combination of Healing Ward+Mobility is the real reason why people QQ about Sorcerers.

Lol no. Hardened ward scaling of magicka is the problem.

Dont f*** up healing ward for all other magicka specs out there. Its sorcs hardened ward on top of healing ward which makes their shieldstacking the best of all other classes. If you try to deny this you are biased.

The point previously made, healing ward + mobility is strong, certainly has truth to it. If cloak worked half as reliable as streak magicka NBs with healing ward would be nearly impossible to kill. Healing ward only gives a big heal if the shield cannot be bursted down, mobility or stealth prevents your enemy from bursting the healing ward shield down. If hardened ward is casted before healing ward this also prevents healing ward from being bursted down. This is the core of the problem imo. Any skill that allows a 0 to 100% heal over a short time with minimum resource tends to be OP. We saw this with refl. scales and GDB in 1.5 and we will see this with healing ward + cloak when cloak is finally fixed.

It might be time to change the healing ward value and/or mechanic, this seems to be the cause of most issues. As for hardened ward, this shield is strong and it better be, its the ONLY skill that prevents sorcs from dying in active combat.

the only issue with shields is the stacking. If ZOS remove the stacking by a basic rule : shileds can't stack. One shield replace another. You have to choose between wich shield do you want to defend. Problem solved. And don't make them critable. It's pointless, or make them critable too when they pop for 150% shielding value of the initial one.

All good. They should allow shields to crit when cast, as well, for 150% the normal shield value.

    Should go both ways.

    Huzzah!

Well, if ZoS wants to destroy all shields, instead of making Hardened Ward scale off health, I guess I can live with that compromise.

If you ward yourself, you get hit by all CCs and all damage directed at you.

There is one very important factor that should not be overlooked, namely that unlike all other forms of defense, shields continue to protect you even if you get CC-ed.

Blocking DK, rolling NB, healing templar - any of those, if i manage to CC while they are at 10% HP, they are dead.
But CC a 10% HP sorc who has healing ward and hardened ward on him, and you will never be able to put a dent in his remaining HP before he has chance to recover and bolt(or just recast those shields again).

Yup. On top of that, shields are immune/prevent-

    All Crits
    A lot of spell effects
Most 5 piece offensive set procs
    Bleeds/poison

    It's just too much imo.

This is the problem with shields IMO. You can adjust values up or down - but to take the function out of so many peoples builds because - hey Im using shields... is complete BS.

LOL @ Every sorc that said this wouldn't happen

IMO shields should have never been as OP as they were in the first place. The ONLY reason why people are complaining is because ZOS allowed sorc's to be OP for so long & everybody got use to it.

And how does making them critable and on top no stacking of shields any help for hardened ward? It's going to ruin sorcerers only defence unless they buff hardened ward by 100%+. Sorcerers are never going to be a viable class because they have no defence. They die instantly. No one is going to buy imperial city if all its doing is ruining classes. Why didn't they use their brain and bring the bad stuff a few months after ic release? No one is going to buy this dlc.
