I just want to point out that many of these changes do NOT make up for the raise.

+50% to quest xp? Okay but what about for the people who've already completed Cadwell's Gold and Silver? You're not going to retroactively reward that xp are you?
+100% to public dungeon xp? Great if you haven't already done all of them but if you have done all of them do you really expect people to just go in and grind mobs in them?
-15% to xp needed to gain a VR, again, for people who've already done a lot of content and gotten up a lot of VR's unless you're going to retroactively adjust their VR to account for the new xp requirements, they've done more content and gotten less for it.

Itemisation has always been a terrible joke in this game.

The saving grace for this game has always been the combat, the really well done quests, the atmosphere and feel of the game as well as the great people that inhabit the game.

I couldn't care less what they have to do to fix itemisation, I just want it fixed. If people care about having a fulfilling MMO experience that makes sense to even be considered an MMO then they should know better than to complain.

Crafted gear is hideously strong, gear acquisition incentive is ridiculous, Undaunted gear merely distracted people for a time until the tragic RNG made individuals like myself not even login until itemisation was addressed, which should be next ESO Live.

BoP Tank gear which doesn't improve resistances, BoE tank gear which does improve resistances, absolute inefficient tragic joke.

Over 16 months and season gear is finally being introduced to combat the complete and utter lack of class quests as well as zero role quests which grant role gear. Apparently we should expect many item sets which complement specific roles.

But that's not all folks; expect all these item sets to be Breton style because it is the first letter in the alphabet which appears so in order to save time, they simply choose the first racial motif for gear, just like Warlock, just like Undaunted and many, many more.

Sad that people care more about complaining about "hurr durr muh immershun! Muh vetowan renks!" instead of the joke of a U.I, the elephant in the room which has been itemisation and stuff which actually matters like unique gear being placed in the Crown Store and not in the game world for likely 6 months minimum in order to drive sales due to unique gear only being able to be acquired from the Crown Store exclusively, for a time, possibly even permanently exclusive to Crown Store, who knows!

Nedic, Ashlander gear are two examples - the Ashlander medium set in-game? The head is Breton style but everything else is Ashlander, seriously? Why? To improve monetisation?

And so many people are irritated by this "controversial" Veteran Rank addition, which is a dank meme in and of itself.

No. You will be VR 14 and you will have to earn 1.7 mil xp. Which is about 4.25 champion points. But all quests will give 50% more xp all the way up so someone starting after the increase in cap will level faster doing the same content than we did originally.
You sure? Was that officially said in the ESO live? (I didn't watch the whole thing)

its how it was before with the other updates so i'd agree its a safe bet

Yeah but the other VR increases didn't come along with a simultaneous reduction to their XP requirements. I seem to recall a time when VR increases had their own XP that wasn't like other XP... but it's been a while, I could be wrong. But since they switched to using the same XP for everything it has always been 1 Mil and they've added 4 VRs since then.

Credit for earned XP and applying it to the new system would make sense... but less XP scroll sales, of course :)

And I've been saying here for months that I was detecting a softening on their removal. Methinks they wanted to see how the other 400% (i.e. console players) felt about VR before pulling the trigger.

And yes, I have it on good authority that already 4X as many players play on consoles as PC/Mac.. it's a hit, folks and grats to ZOS..

Some points you should know. - Long term goal is still to remove veteran ranks, but it is intimately tied with gear progression currently. This allows them to release more content without the delay on full re-itemization.

    1. XP needed for every VR rank reduced by 15%
    2. Quest XP increased by 50%
    3. Public Dungeons (Large group delves) Doubling XP
    4. Craglorn XP increased by 20%

It appears that this increase will be timed with the release of new content Imperial City / Wrothgar

At this time many new armor and weapon sets will be introduced as well. (Two weeks for details)

Gear progression is inevitable. I would most likely re-make my gear any way with one of the new sets. Sounds like there will be a wide range of new gear.

    Sky is not falling.

So what was to stop them releasing this stuff at the current cap of VR14?

If they are coming out with new sets of armor and weapons, I guarantee that you will want to switch your armor sets out for new ones anyway so might as well up the VR level since everyone will be swapping gear anyway. so really ZOS is saving you from getting all this new gear and then raising the ranks later, now that would make people even more buthirt.

Thanks for sharing some of the specific details from today's show, @Elijah_Crow. To clarify, the Veteran Rank increase is planned to roll out with the release of Imperial City. In the coming weeks, we will be talking more about the the Veteran Rank increase, including vision behind the decision and the newly added benefits that go along with it.

They way they Eric was talking on the ESO Live before that could well be the different between VR14 and VR16, which is a little bit of a worry (He says it near the beginning of this spiel)

I don't get it. They nerf the living b jebbus out of everything. Starve us for content for a year.
Then right before raising the cap and releasing new stuff, they double everything?
Won't that just make us Starve again, since we hit max so quickly?

Wouldn't it be better to make it take longer, giving everyone something to do untill the next drop, six months latter vs. Every single person hit max rank then stand around complaining, like we have for the last eight months?

I know I'm wrong, but I just don't see it.

I agree with you. It seems like they have it backwards. Nerf XP while there is something to do and then buff it when there is a content lull. Then people who are behind can catch up or people who want to roll alts can level faster. Why you would want people to plow through new content faster doesn't make a lot of sense.
