VanduurSoul ShrivenEver since I switched to ps4 I've felt muted. Having to stand outside a dungeon dancing for 20 minutes hoping someone will invite me is a drag. I'm never comfortable using mics to communicate with people I've never met, and the lack of text chat just kills any communal sense I felt playing pc. RIP zone chat.

CaadSoul ShrivenI'm going to cast my vote for text chat on consoles. I usually never post in discussion forums, but I think this important enough to voice my opinion.
Voice chat has the potential to be great if used properly, but I've found the lack of text chat to be a hindrance for a variety of in-game activity, including trade and grouping up for quests. Also, I tend to chat with friends in the PS4 party chat, so I'm not able to use the in-game voice chat without swapping back and forth. One final (and very important, imo) reason for text chat is to provide accessibility for the hearing impaired. Having a relative who is deaf has made me realize that accessibility is an important thing to consider in entertainment and gaming.
Don't remove the voice chat, but please consider adding the text chat to the game. Thanks for providing a place for me to express my opinion on this matter.3 -

O ya, We NEED text chat on consoles! I'm a PC transfer as well and I'm sorry but this game is GREAT as a social experience, and I would MAYBE be O K with voice chat ONLY IF AND ONLY IF people used their damn mics! But they don't! Barley anyone uses their mic so it might as well be a single player game. On PC, with text chat, you feel like your in the world with others, you speak to others and watch others speaking to each other, you sell your wares in chat, you find groups in chat. We NEED chat! I really want to stay on console but this game just isn't the same and the enjoyment of using a controller is fading quickly. I miss being able to talk to people while i play, sel my items and just generally feel like the game and the world I'm playing in is lived in and right now I just feel like I'm playing a slightly watered down Elder Scrolls game! How long do you think that will last ZOS? Think about it, YA a lot of new console only players might not be saying anything because they don't know what it's like but I GAURENTEE they will like the game much more if they know there's others in the world with them. In fact in also playing neverwinter on Xbone, and that game kinda sucks but I think I like to play it simply because there is text chat, again, I feel like I'm playing a game with a bunch of other people I don't feel lonely when I play neverwinter but I Definetly feel lonely playing ESO on console, this just won't do for me5

ZOS HOW THE HECK DID YOU LET THIS HAPPEN? DOES NO ONE AT ZOS EVEN PLAY AN MMO? I SERIOUSLY DOUBT IT BECAUSE EVEN THE MOST AMATURE MMO GAMER KNOWS THE IMPORTANCE OF TEXT CHAT!

Should I have had access to chat I could have found that 4th person. I could have ask in different zones by text chat and got the 4th person today. This is an immersion killer to me. There seem to be a number of misconceptions in your post, so I'll go ahead and clear those up.
1) Yes, you can turn off text chat as a rule, even on the PC version which does not yet have built-in VOIP. It's really pretty simple.
2) Many people do use VOIP on PC through 3rd party software, such as Mumble, TS, etc. VOIP is great for certain things, such as when already grouped in Cyrodiil or dungeons, or just hanging out w/ your friends. Text is better for other things, such as reaching a much larger number of players w/out being intrusive when looking for groups, recruiting for guilds, selling items outside of guild kiosks, etc.
3) Which MMOs have been "absolutely ruined by text chat"? Because I can not think of any that have shuttered their doors due to the inclusion of text chat, and I've been playing MMOs for as long as the genre has existed.
4) While I will not speak for everybody who is requesting text chat, I personally play on PC and PS4. I have a console that I play on (because much like VOIP, consoles are better for certain types of gaming experiences and my TV is much larger than my monitor), I am a gamer, thus I am a console gamer.
I wish text chat to be included because, as I've stated many times before, the experience on consoles is hampered by the lack of it due to many of the in-game systems having been designed around text chat's inclusion. W/out it, those things that text chat excels at have become clunky and obtuse to use. It's not as smooth an experience as it was designed to be and paying the same price for an inferior experience is simply unfair to those on consoles.
5) You make the assumption that many of us who are asking for this feature either A) do not even use the voice chat provided by the game and B ) would not use the voice chat during group activities where it clearly outshines its counterpart. You are wrong on both counts, unfortunately.
Voice chat and text-based chat are simply different tools, and we would like to use the best tool for the job instead of constantly trying to force the square peg into the round hole and being told that's how it should work. It's not.6 -

I want text chat and am in no way a spammer..And if you read most of these post you see with text chat.. 90% say the option to turn it off should be there for those who don't want it..
As i pointed out in another thread i spent the last 3 days going to all 3 faction zones checking ever guild trader and saying in area chat i was buying a certian flower..3 days multi trips and 1 person responed he didnt have any..I got alot of %$(*^ you and music and static..
Trying to get the attention of guild mates who are grouped in group chat sucks no text chat...the in game mail only updates right away if you log out and back in and most people have there notifacations turned off on there consoles so there not spamed..
as far as pc has it...guess what this was supose to be a stright port to console not a differnt game..
If you just playing with your little click i guess you might not want text chat..trying to play a mmo it be nice if it had the basic form of comucation..but selling buying grouping is all hindered

We did pay for it. It's actually in the game files. It's just not enabled currently.
And the console version costs exactly the same as the PC version, which will soon have both VOIP and text chat. We are simply asking for the same experience for the same price.
You, who do not want to use it, don't have to. You can turn it off, just like you already can on the PC.
Also, you don't "have to" pay for anything. You don't even have to subscribe, that's your choice, and you do so for the monthly crowns, XP / inspiration boosts, and access to future DLC. That's what your sub is buying, nothing more.
To act like you are being forced to pay for features you won't use when you are not actually forced to pay anything at all beyond the cost of the box is simply asinine. Especially when you are receiving the full benefit of your subscription, as detailed above.

again ill point out this was a port from PC to console not a NEW game..Text chat is in the game they just disabled it...you notice we have to TYPE for mail and its not voice mail
IF your paying for my addiction.. I think you owe me some money ...cause ive payed for my sub up to nov plus spent another $100 not to mention the $70 on the imp edition..

Ok, if was an actual option to turn it off. But I have yet to see a console version of an mmo actually do that yet? And as a rule, I don't do "cliques" so don't assume that's my reasoing. Mostly it's because of trolls, and if there was text chat, they would abuse the absolute hell out of it. Look I get it , your in the minority that's not a spammer. Fair enough, but what about the 99.9 % that are trolls , spammers , flamers etc. And it would be a different matter, IF the mods , volunteers would police this game religiously. But allot of these mods, have taught themselves to tune it out. IF I was a mod, volunteer etc._ I would be like one of these old time sheriffs , keeping the peace and cleaning up the town. So to speak, I won't even get into the fact their often "payed". Were already having issues with voice chat and harrasment, do we really need to add to it? Here is another thing to consider okay , gamers complaining about imersion in the game. Well , text chat would literary kill off any imersion that was left in ESOTU. You know how ppl, hate ads on YouTube . Just imagine , how annoying that would be in game. I agrre their should be a forum to trade stuff, and a place you could get to know others allot better. But we already have things like this, and it's called social networking. I also get those that have social anxiety , because I have as well. Look your points are valid , but so are others. Um...Dude...it was just a colorful way of saying I agree with "the right tool for the right job".
I even posted the same sentiment way back around page 3. (lol)
As it is right now, if you want to talk to every member of your guild that is ingame at the moment, you have to jump into "room 1" say what you need and wait for replies, then jump into "room 2" and wait for replies....etc.
And the tooltip for VC even says; "Guilds get their own Voice Channels. The larger the Guild the more channels they get."
So, our "reward" for building a large/successful guild is to have our ability to communicate with them hampered to an extreme.EQUALIZE ALL PLATFORMS!

And you can chat and, possibly end up with carpal tunnel? To your hearts content. I'm guessing nothihg will be good enough , until you get your text chat right. Well okay say that Zenimax caves, then you can count on a couple of things 1. This game will go 100% toxic after that . 2. the fanbase will drop off , considerably myself included. And of course all those "self entitled gamers" would really care less. Because their only solution , is for allot of us to go play another game. Which is allot easier said then done, especially if your not a fanboy gamer. And all you do is play the same exact 3 games , a billion times.
