Console text chat discussion

Text chat is needed, the economy is almost non-existent.
Selling any items is a bit of a choar as alot of guilds still don't have any way to get into the guild stores.

You can't recruit properly to boost your guild numbers.
Finding groups for area bosses or anchors while questing is extinct.
Whats the point in crafting if some of the default prices are so low on current guild stores you can't make any gold.

I'm sick of hearing muppets in voice chat, if i was on the pc it's like putting 40 people in teamspeak all with open mics talking and playing music at the same time - sometimes it sounds awful!!!

Voice chat works for groups, beyond that it starts to get pretty messy.
We havea guild of 30 and that noise is enough, to be honest. lol.

Some people can't even use the voice chat, and the ones that do mostly sit in external chats via xbox/ps4 parties, rendering in game chat useless.
The ones that actually use the in game chat, as mentioned will usually be a mess of sound.

Add it as a toggle option for those who wish to sell/lfg and recruit - those who don't want to use it can switch it off, just like they do with the voice chat.

On a side note - add dmg/healing numbers aswell.
Console gamers want these features in general - there is no reason to "dumb" them down.

Aside from transfer havent spent money since 2014. Might buy dlc if they ever get back to basics.
But either way its entertaining for me.

This game is in serious need of text chat, I constantly wish it was in the game when even doing standard things, makes coordination in pvp nearly impossible, always wondering where tf everyone is battling at!! Please put a patch in ASAP for the feature, seems like your making plenty of ppl irritated rather than listening to majority that do want the feature. Voice chat can be a nice feature but simply isn't ideal in many situations.

Dont think so, would only be an overall improvement but without text chat it will stagnate for sure as multiplayer game.
But most people, me included, payd for a MMORPG and not a singleplayer RPG.

I really do think text chat is necessary, without it the game barely feels like an MMO outside of dungeons and PvP and seeing people run around
It just doesn't work with voice-chat as either people don't talk or it's CoDbros and *** trying to act tough and cool spouting nonsense

Text chat promotes those of us who want to join as allies, enjoy socialising without needing to be vocal (it makes sense) and generally will be much better received than this voice chat nonsense

I don't know what was going through ZoS heads when they though to not allow text chat on consoles, but obviously they didn't expect the backlash to be so severe
I highly doubt they'll keep ignoring it when I'm reading so many people are selling the game because of the voice chat only ruining immersion and just being awful

we can only hope, at least wie have some real MMORPGS in console wie can play other than ESO that do their job good, but would be sad for the IP.
All positive aspects were mentioned in this thread so we can only bump it until we get a response from the devs if they plan to add it or not.

I made a choice to go to Hardee's, I ordered a big mac...they didn't offer it...i got pizzd off and demanded they put that on their menu or else!!! Fingers crossed..I think they're about to cave in

If someone chose the console version of this game knowing wats in it and wats not, then starts the whole 'my brothers cousin works 3rd shift so can't play during the day, my grammy can't stand noise at night, I once knew a person with gout that can't stand to talk,so i stand for them...umm, just because, my console is in my newborn babies crib and if I have to speak, it will wake him/her...yada yada etc etc...then that's not the devs/company's fault. Hint, it's the person who went out or downloaded this game..... as is...no text

Want text chat, news flash..PC has it already..and yes, so does 2 out of hundreds of console games..i.e.. ffffixxxixxx and that other game that ZOS does not make...dcso watever that ppl keep bringing up. So shhhhhhhh, pass it around..but keep it low

this is a multiplayer game, we need a way to communicate with more than 4 people at the same time in the guild for example, discussing things with more than 4 people, search for people in zones for bosses,trading !!!!! this are things that this *** only Voice chat method doesnt provide, if you tell me otherwise please make sure you share your way of communicating with like 20 people at the same time in voice, without any information loss from the discussion.

on that note screw immersion, more social features !!!! this is a massive multiplayer game, not a 4 man only or singleplayer rpg.

For the point that console players knew about the no text chat is wrong, it was never advertised only if you followed the game news. Otherwise no information about it, not even when you purchase it on some internet store like amazon, so a person who buys it who played several MMORPG assumes " text chat standart", than we have all right to critisize that.

This is like saying that we chose to play ESO and it was a buggy, broken mess from launch.

But we should have all just shut up and let it stay that way because, after all, we chose to play the game in that state.

Like I said previously, I'm going to continue to try to make the game better than it is, because it has potential. And while you may be happy w/ what you've got, many people aren't.

And when it does come, it won't effect you in the least anyway, so what does it matter? Oh wait, that's right, you won't answer that question because... reasons.

Yes we need text chat, im getting sick of 75% of the areas I go to the Area Voice chat being loaded with kids who think it is cool to say the F or N word every 3 seconds.

Also Give us the option to disable auto join of voice chats, I hate leaving area chat only to zone and be put back into it.

We need text chat on console.

I think there is a console bundle that comes with the "snap-on" chatpad for the controller, so anybody that chooses not to get it just doesn't deserve it, I guess...so...next?

You know what? If you dont like console version dont play it.

And there is not an option for players to use chat or not if it introduces. Imagine half your guild have keyboard plugged in and using chat and half does not..imagine in the world players write to you and expect you to write back. I did not bought a console to play games with keyboard on my feet..

This is a possibility that worries me. It also makes me question (yet again) the decisions the developers and the "suits" make. They seem to like to ram stuff down our throat (see "No separation of console forums) to try and change the way things ALWAYS are. They think they know better than we do which is just plain silly. Granted, it's their game. But you'd think they'd listen to folks who've played these games for years and know what works and what doesn't. FFS during beta the only things they really changed because of folks "whining" was adding vet levels.

It actually hasn't been rejected at all. Devs have said that they are open to the idea of having text-based communications in the game, so we are discussing the merits and value of having optional text-based communication in the game.

That is pretty much the exact opposite of rejecting the idea.

The only "tired agenda" that I continue to see is "I don't like it, so YOU can't have it".

It's like ZOS isn't playing their own game. I would gladly invite a ZOS dev to my guild to see how difficult it is to manage 400+ members without text chat. Give him/her officer rights and let them try...

Rejected by who ? Is it fun in that little delusional cocoon you like in ? You don't see the irony in your statements.

Every poll , and simple number of posts by different people show that you and your 4 or 5 total fellow anti-option posters has shown that far , far more posters want the text option. Yet you dance around that fact , or simply don't like it.

How would anyone be at a disadvantage ? If voice chat is so incredible , only a few of us would choose to use keyboard text chat and you'd have your hundreds of thousands using voice only.

I see the nuances of the english language are lost on you. Perhaps it's not your native tongue so I forgive your ignorance.

Let me explain, even though the point is perfectly clear.

I am ok not having it.

But if it were a feature in the game, not using it would put a player at a disadvantage, which means that you would be forced to use it if you wanted to compete, strategically speaking, in Cyro. So I would have to have the chat pane on my screen. So here it is, Sherlock. I'm tying it all together for you now...

I don't want the chat pane on my screen & in order to be strategically competitive it would be necessary. I play this game because it plays differently than other MMOs. I like that it is unique. What I'm not interested in, is this game becoming more like other games. If I wanted the same experience that other games offer, I would be playing them.

Pvp without a text chat yeah not very effective we can't coordinate within the faction like go here and attack that keep while we hold the bridge. Stuff like that... It is hard as it to find a group in pvp and it is annoying. The group finder takes forever to queue up for dungeons and find someone while I could just type lfg with the text chat. And the traiding well don't get me started there. And don't start with the this is a new mmo type of thing the game has it on the pc and works even better since it doesn't fell everyone is just soloing.

So we're supposed to just keep our mouths shut with our fingers taped together and not try to make the game better? I'm not sure if you're trolling or being serious, considering that no ordinary human types like that.

Anyhow, I am enjoying this game a lot, but this is one of the main things that is holding it back for me.

Wrong! Having text chat would be great for the people that actually want to use it. If you don't care for it, then guess what? You will still have the voice chat option and will chat with the people that use it. Everybody wins.

Stop being selfish, we all deserve to communicate the way we want. Every MMO has this option, there's no excuse not to have it.
