Seems like some of the good people who are all for options, have voted no to options for PSN/x1 names showing ....makes a lot of sense eh B)

Text chat is bad mmmkkk, I bought a game without text on the version I chose..so I got wat I wanted that suits my needs. PC version has text and I chose not to buy it.

Mic up, group up, guild up and kill cht ;)

I will go on american server, mic up and make the city learn german.

    Thats the way TO GO!

We need ways to communicate, its hard finding a group for team dungeons. Wait up to an hour to find a group and then no one even shows up to do it. The full group should get teleported to the dungeon once the group has been made. Also i cant sell items ect because there is no auction /ways to talk

People need to stop bringing up Destiny in defence of ZoS's decision making regarding text chat. Destiny has a fully working, multifunctional (PVE/PVP) matchmaking system that takes a minute tops to que, with the only exception being for the 2-3 raids in the game. If the grouping interface in ESO worked as flawlessly as that one, and the only thing that was missing were the 12 man trials, no one would be complaining at all.

False equivalences. Stop making them. You know who you are.

It's not a false equivalence simply because one has a functioning queue system and the other doesn't. The thing is, the stuff the queue system WORKS for in Destiny can all be easily solo'd with a reasonably geared Guardian, the things you actually NEED a group for all deny you a queue arbitrarily and force you to seek communication outside the game to organize groups or to just hope someone randomly invites you/randomly invite other people.

So one could easily state that the queue system in Destiny doesn't work outside of the casual daily content, and in-game text chat would still be a godsend there for organizing parties.

Destiny likely left out the text chat because with reasonably coordination it would've been blindingly obvious within the first three or four days how sparse its content was as the super hardcore cleared it and were seeking endgame groups in a public discourse.

ESO is not sparse on content and the fact that the queuing system doesn't work AND there's no text chat to organize people is a double whammy of fail.

But false equivalence? No. And I guarantee if group finder worked on everything INCLUDING 12 man trials there would be just as much vitriol over the omission.

Were it an option you could disable, would you be upset over it?

Do you hate deaf people so much?

Are you so selfish as to prefer other people's experience suffer that you don't have to turn off something in the options?

First of all i´ve to say: LEARN ENGLISH! If you talk that gabbish in VC like you write, noone except your family will understand you.

Second, you should check the other supported language-forums. All there are starting crying for a text-chat.

It's a feature that is in almost every mmo out there, regardless of what system is used, why? Because it's needed! That small minority you mentioned has all gave valid reasons, compared your post...Can you really answer for "most people"

    I think not.

you are the minority for sure^^ easy way to solve would be a ingame vote after login where everybody votes, quite sure will be 80 % for chat and 20 % for no. Something like that^^
In this thread already all benefits for chat were posted, its a simply overall improvment that the game needs to not die !
THIS IS A MASSIVE MULTIPLAYER GAME simply doesnt work with voice chat only, and if you dislike chat, simply hide it^^
It will only hurt Zenimax reputation in the industry its a god damn standart in our time and age xD

I dont hate anyone (or tbh hates everyone equally much would be more accurate)... But you must understand that its very hard and not very efficient to play with people that doesnt listen to instructions and bringin in a chat box would only make progress slower.
I dont think im that selfish (im a realist if something) and i think i can speak for everyone when i say that this game is a streamlined ship and lose weight got to go. Tought luck but there are other games out there for people that cant listen and want to text stuff - like facebook or MUD´s or something.

I'm not sure how it would affect your game at all. Those of us who prefer text chat just turn off voice chat anyway, you aren't talking to us at all. If you are so distasteful of text chat, you can turn it off and STILL never talk to us. You're basically saying that you're so self-absorbed, so set on what you prefer being the only way and everyone else be damned, that you won't toggle an option for their benefit.

Again, those of us interested in text chat aren't talking to you anyway, so what would you lose? It would only benefit the game.

These arguments against having text chat are AMAZINGLY BAFFLING BRILLIANTLY insane. It's like you don't live in the real world, like your ever whim has always been catered to and the very idea that someone else might have preferences or needs outside your own actually offends your sensibilities. You should really be ashamed of that kind of behavior, it's narcissistic and childish.

On a side note, why is it that everyone who hates the idea of text chat types like they're missing fingers? Must be the smartphone generation, all thumbs with no manners.

How can you say it would slow down progress when you have no background knowledge of what they have done? The code must be written before it's implemented on the PC version. You called yourself a realist yet your logic is amusing ..."there are other games out there for people that cant listen and want to text stuff"

Yeah but thats the problem im speaking about! You shouldnt turn it off! Lets say your wanna go into a dungeon and you find some guys to rock with and at the first tough encounter you find that one or two guys just dont listen to what you are saying.
that would be a foot coming their way in matter of minutes and that aint funny stuff for you and the rest that use voice chat and are let down by the offender that couldnt or didnt want to listen.

Yet, I and many others in this thread are console gamers and have expressed our interest in text chat.

So clearly you do not actually speak for console gamers. In the future, you should probably limit your voice to just yourself, since that's literally the only person you are honestly speaking for.

    Agreed.

I have absolutely no problem with voice chat in parties and raids, in fact, that's great. We're arguing for text chat as a means to get into those parties and raids. The open voice chat is a horrendous mess for communication, you can't go "17 NB LFG Spindleclutch" while out doing other stuff and boom, get an invite, at your convenience. One could point to the group finder but it's far less personal and, thusfar, completely unreliable or broken.

By the same merit, if you have a quick question, you can't really ask it and have it answered. If you want to find a trade guild, you can't just ask if there's any active ones that can toss you an invite. Alternatively, you can't join these things as people make callouts to recruit.

Other players who don't chat can't passively learn about the game as people ask questions and discuss the game.

There's a lot of reasons to have text chat outside of groups.

Voice chat in groups, A++. But not so much for anything else. No one is arguing that voice that should be removed, but many people are arguing that text chat should never exist.

To many of us, this is how it looks:

"Mommy Befesda! Text chatters got seven tatertots and I only got six!"

    "Well here's a seventh."

"NO! I DON'T WANT SEVEN I WANT YOU TO TAKE AWAY ONE OF THEIRS SO THEY ONLY HAVE SIX!"

When we're arguing for us both to have seven.

I like how you disagree with my statement on false equivalencies then proceed to list all of the reasons why the two games shouldn't be compared. I'm not the one comparing them or bringing them into the discussion, but thanks for reinforcing my point among the rest of your wild assumption making. Group content in Destiny is not meant to be soloed, that's why it's billed as group content. Your opinion of its difficulty does not change the fact that Destiny still has a fully operational Queing system for group content. Nor does it change the fact that these two games should not be compared. Comparing the Queing system in ESO to the one in Destiny (which others, not myself, have been doing in this conversation) is the very definition of a false equivalence.

"A logical fallacy which describes a situation in which there is a logical and apparent equivalence (voice chat and no text chat, LFG for grouping), when in fact there isn't one." Which we both seem to agree upon.

But you are wrong, you are arguing that one is not enough and want more, I dont. I think its enough as it is and provided logical and strong points for my cause. a text box would only be filled with useless spam anyway. No thx! and as i said, most people seems to have fun and are thriving in the awesome textless enviroment ZoS are providing.

This guy....basically saying "Don't have an opinion just be a mindless drone and accept everything"

Thankfully people aren't like that or every major scientific discovery would never have happened. It takes the CONSUMER to remind the developer that they are wrong when they think some kind of experiment is a good idea.
