Text chat is bad mmmkkk, I bought a game without text on the version I chose..so I got wat I wanted that suits my needs. PC version has text and I chose not to buy it.
Mic up, group up, guild up and kill cht

Destiny has a fully working, multifunctional (PVE/PVP) matchmaking system that takes a minute tops to que, with the only exception being for the 2-3 raids in the game. If the grouping interface in ESO worked as flawlessly as that one, and the only thing that was missing were the 12 man trials, no one would be complaining at all.
False equivalences. Stop making them. You know who you are.
I will go on american server, mic up and make the city learn german.
Thats the way TO GO!
Please z-max hear my desperate plea: dont do it, dont cave in to the "We must have this and that"-guys. they are a minority of vocal forum posters thats all. Most people are fine playing the game and love the absence of text chat.

Were it an option you could disable, would you be upset over it?
Do you hate deaf people so much?
Are you so selfish as to prefer other people's experience suffer that you don't have to turn off something in the options?
I dont hate anyone (or tbh hates everyone equally much would be more accurate)... But you must understand that its very hard and not very efficient to play with people that doesnt listen to instructions and bringin in a chat box would only make progress slower.
I dont think im that selfish (im a realist if something) and i think i can speak for everyone when i say that this game is a streamlined ship and lose weight got to go. Tought luck but there are other games out there for people that cant listen and want to text stuff - like facebook or MUD´s or something.

I'm not sure how it would affect your game at all. Those of us who prefer text chat just turn off voice chat anyway, you aren't talking to us at all. If you are so distasteful of text chat, you can turn it off and STILL never talk to us. You're basically saying that you're so self-absorbed, so set on what you prefer being the only way and everyone else be damned, that you won't toggle an option for their benefit.
Again, those of us interested in text chat aren't talking to you anyway, so what would you lose? It would only benefit the game.
These arguments against having text chat are AMAZINGLY BAFFLING BRILLIANTLY insane. It's like you don't live in the real world, like your ever whim has always been catered to and the very idea that someone else might have preferences or needs outside your own actually offends your sensibilities. You should really be ashamed of that kind of behavior, it's narcissistic and childish.
On a side note, why is it that everyone who hates the idea of text chat types like they're missing fingers? Must be the smartphone generation, all thumbs with no manners.
You seem to be trying to speak for all console gamers.
Yet, I and many others in this thread are console gamers and have expressed our interest in text chat.
So clearly you do not actually speak for console gamers. In the future, you should probably limit your voice to just yourself, since that's literally the only person you are honestly speaking for.
Yeah but thats the problem im speaking about! You shouldnt turn it off! Lets say your wanna go into a dungeon and you find some guys to rock with and at the first tough encounter you find that one or two guys just dont listen to what you are saying.
that would be a foot coming their way in matter of minutes and that aint funny stuff for you and the rest that use voice chat and are let down by the offender that couldnt or didnt want to listen.
It's not a false equivalence simply because one has a functioning queue system and the other doesn't. The thing is, the stuff the queue system WORKS for in Destiny can all be easily solo'd with a reasonably geared Guardian, the things you actually NEED a group for all deny you a queue arbitrarily and force you to seek communication outside the game to organize groups or to just hope someone randomly invites you/randomly invite other people.
So one could easily state that the queue system in Destiny doesn't work outside of the casual daily content, and in-game text chat would still be a godsend there for organizing parties.
Destiny likely left out the text chat because with reasonably coordination it would've been blindingly obvious within the first three or four days how sparse its content was as the super hardcore cleared it and were seeking endgame groups in a public discourse.
ESO is not sparse on content and the fact that the queuing system doesn't work AND there's no text chat to organize people is a double whammy of fail.
But false equivalence? No. And I guarantee if group finder worked on everything INCLUDING 12 man trials there would be just as much vitriol over the omission.
I have absolutely no problem with voice chat in parties and raids, in fact, that's great. We're arguing for text chat as a means to get into those parties and raids. The open voice chat is a horrendous mess for communication, you can't go "17 NB LFG Spindleclutch" while out doing other stuff and boom, get an invite, at your convenience. One could point to the group finder but it's far less personal and, thusfar, completely unreliable or broken.
By the same merit, if you have a quick question, you can't really ask it and have it answered. If you want to find a trade guild, you can't just ask if there's any active ones that can toss you an invite. Alternatively, you can't join these things as people make callouts to recruit.
Other players who don't chat can't passively learn about the game as people ask questions and discuss the game.
There's a lot of reasons to have text chat outside of groups.
Voice chat in groups, A++. But not so much for anything else. No one is arguing that voice that should be removed, but many people are arguing that text chat should never exist.
To many of us, this is how it looks:
"Mommy Befesda! Text chatters got seven tatertots and I only got six!"
"Well here's a seventh."
"NO! I DON'T WANT SEVEN I WANT YOU TO TAKE AWAY ONE OF THEIRS SO THEY ONLY HAVE SIX!"
When we're arguing for us both to have seven.
How can you say it would slow down progress when you have no background knowledge of what they have done? The code must be written before it's implemented on the PC version. You called yourself a realist yet your logic is amusing ..."there are other games out there for people that cant listen and want to text stuff"
I'm speachless of how idiotic your solution is to this, Your arrogance is over 9000!
anyway, I hope they hear me out since text chat are a dead end and only will destroy the game.

Im kind of glad your speechless. This old quote comes to mind: "When a man points a finger at someone else, he should remember that four of his fingers are pointing at himself."

lol, thing is, u won't "make" anyone do nothinU can speak a 2000 yr old dead language if u choose, we'll all just mute ya and get back to enjoying the game...easy-breezy.

I'm curious how text chat would kill the game. I'm not being a jerk, I'm legitimately curious to hear the reasoning behind this, purely in the interests of having civil discussion on the topic.
You guys are stuck in the past, thats whats wrong with this whole discussion.
I will never understand why some individuals decide to row against the stream heading upwards it in the wrong way in a race like this. Just follow the leader down the stream to the goal and you´ll be fine. Trust in the evolvement of things, its usually for the best.
There are called options for a reason.
Yet everyone is pointing at you.
It's implemented on the PC, It works wonders. My overal experience with voice chat in ESO so far is people asking what's for supper, babies crying and I had some gangsta horse gallop past to kid ink. It's a broken feature that ruins emersion. Adding something optional that benifits players will not destroy the game. That's your delusional theory again.
I like how your logic is for those who don't enjoy listening to such 2000 yr old dead languages and other unpleasantries in Voice Chat is basically turn it off (mute).
But the same option for text chat is somehow unacceptable.
Irony.
