Why would I want to be forced to use the launcher?pugyourself wrote: »As a side note, there is a mechanism whereby you can force the launcher as a prerequisite for running the exe. Something to think about.

Best news I've seen all day. Thanks for listening to us!
Sad.
ZOS announcement is fine, but seriously, this was a classic First World Problem of massive proportions!

So you're suggesting I'm forced to use the launcher and suffer endless error 201s etc. every patch so that you're not offended by ignorable ads that at worst are mildly annoying?pugyourself wrote: »fromtesonlineb16_ESO wrote: »Why would I want to be forced to use the launcher?pugyourself wrote: »As a side note, there is a mechanism whereby you can force the launcher as a prerequisite for running the exe. The launcher uses very little resources and its a great (and appropriate) place for ads and news. If I wasn't subbed (like you I'm guessing) I wouldn't mind ads in-game. But I am subbed so I do. The answer is not to "unsub". The answer is to allow subs to opt out of in-game ads. Forcing the launcher allows the ads to show outside the game.

Really? That's absurd.
Yes, I'm a subber and will remain so.

This issue easily ranks in the bottom 10% of my complaints with the game. I would much rather see the community rally around the major problems like PVP performance or the lack of new content. Those deserve our attention and they deserve to be the subject of frequent communication from ZOS. Instead, people are focused on trivial nonsense like these messages. There are some seriously screwed up priorities around here.

You know why the 1st world is the 1st world?
Because our forefathers stood up and made their voice heard when things weren't going the way they wanted and needed them to go.
So yes this was a 1st world problem, and we met it with a 1st world solution.
Far better than beheading people because they believe something different to me as happens in the 3rd world, don't you think?
So let's please stop this faux concern about the 3rd World, because if you were genuinely concerned you'd be out there helping instead in here moaning about 1st world problems.
This "1st world problems" is getting stale, and it doesn't impress anyone anymore - if it ever did.
All The Best

If you don't run the launcher, how will you ensure you have the most up-to-date version of the game? Which you need to access the game anyways...
