3600 is alot of Champion Points to earn.
That's the fundamentally wrong way to look at it, which is why you then go on to argue the way you do, it's min/maxing at its most insane.

There is ZERO reason to want to 'earn' 3600 of them, looking at what's implemented right now I find it impossible to see any reason to 'need' to get more than maybe 300, tops.

People hugely over-state the importance of getting massive numbers of points into these things, DR ensure that after around 30 in any one of them more points have an almost immeasurable impact on the stats they buff.

Which is great for those that like or at least tolerate PVP, useless for those [many] of us who want nothing to do with PVP at all and consider the game would be better off without it.

I'm sure a lot of what I'm about to mention has already been said, but I don't have the time to go through every page of posts.
That being said I believe that the Elder Scrolls Online would do well doing experience gains in the spirit of it's previous titles and be "play your way".

I've only played Morrowind and forward to ESO so I don't what Arena/Daggerfall were like, but the games were very open world and allowed you to play the way you wanted and I feel that experience games in ESO should have a similar feel of "do it how you want".

You should have equally viable options:

    1. If I want to quest and do side missions, main story, guild quests, etc. only, that should be an option
    2. If I want to grind delves or outdoor areas with packs of a lot of enemy NPC's only, that should be an option
    3. If I like PvE'ing with others and want to run group dungeons for experience only, that should be an options (I love the addition of the Undaunted dailies for dungeons, but the experience gains from group dungeons is still so abysmal people just get a VR1 to lead the group to make the dungeon as easy as possible to get through it because the loot/experience is inconsequential).
    4. If I want to live in Cyrodiil and do the quests/dungeons/and PvP in that zone only, I should be able to.
    5. Crafting would be a nice way to get some experience on the side too, maybe not so much from breaking down harvested materials or deconstructing items but creating/upgrading items (this one should be treated with care though since some wealthy people could just spent gold on materials and power level through the experience).

You also should be able to move fluidly between any of these methods as well for people that like to experience the game in its entirety without a lot of hiccups.

It's just kind of depressing right now after coming back to game after all the "knee-jerk" experience nerfs when I finish a main story quest in the VR levels and only get 2% experience on my bar, but there's nothing else to really do to level in a decent fashion.

As far as CP's go I hate the "round robin" system where it rotates through each of the 3 sections as you gain points, just let it be like the skill trees where we earn points and can put them where we want.

TL;DR - Give us equivalent options to chose from in gaining experience and have it feel like you're actually making progress. The "round robin" CP gain system is dumb.

300? Have you looked at the trees?
300 would give you 100 in each (Warrior, Thief, and Mage). In turn, this is about 30 per tree in the relative constalletions with 10 left per Warrior, Thief, and Mage. So what about the 75 passives? The 120 passives?
And concerning the DR, sure, the gain becomes relatively minimal. However, at 100 in a given passive with a %, you receive 25% of said passive. At your suggested '30' you would only have ~10%. The difference is hugely measurable. Especially over time.
"Fundamentally", I am right on target. Most MMO players play to endgame (imo), and that needs to be considered. "Immeasurable" is only true in the short-term, long-term the measures are great.

Lastly, the OP asked for my opinion. Not your opinion on my opinion. Try this, give your opinion on the OP post. This thread needs to be constructive. "Zero"ing in on people's post within the thread derails the OP intentions. You have been on my endgame threads before being negative to my opinions. I have to ask, do you endgame? High-end content?

    Another suggestion:

The LFG tool. Not even sure if it works these days. Does it? If so...
Champion Points is a way to foster some LFG activity.

Simple: once per day, successfully completing a dungeon via LFG rewards you a CP!
