In an extremely close shave, ESO has beaten The Secret World and its relatively small but dedicated fanbase, with 51.3% of the votes. It is now going up against LOTRO for the ultimate crown!

Now, the semi-finals were very tough, but this round is going to be SUPER-tough. LOTRO's community is highly vocal and they'll certainly stop at nothing to win the awards for the second time - LOTRO won the award in 2008.

Spread the word to each and every last person you know that plays ESO to help us win! LOTRO's community may be small, but they're certainly a loyal bunch! For all of you that say it's a simple popularity contest - well, it sort of is - but it's much more than that. Winning this award could bring in a ton of new players on top of the hordes of returning players that we're getting right now. We could finally bring ESO into a positive light in the industry for once!

So on Tuesday 30th, log on and kick LOTRO's ass! For the sake of ESO, let's do this thing!

Meanwhile, our two losers - TSW and EVE Online - will be facing eachother for the bronze medal. Be sure to vote for TSW in that bracket - they gave us a great fight and it's only fair that we do vote for them!

And finally, please be nice toward the LOTRO community. Don't be accusing them of anything or bringing them down without evidence as it just makes our own community look bad. I know that lots of players in our community really want to win, but please be nice and don't start flame wars

I thought that in the last round too XD. People do like the game, luckily, and are just frustrated at the moment.

Plus people who are fine with things don't tend to post. It's the emotional ones that are vocal, making them look like a far bigger group than they really are.

Yeah but it's that same group that make accounts on dumb MMO sites to post in polls. I like most sane people wouldn't dream of making an account on a site that's regularly hacked just to vote for ESO in a very biased poll to start with.
Plus the last round was Pre-Ginagate post

And it encouraged me to vote when this comes up, because your attitude in general is awesome.

Looking forward to supporting ESO in this round, and hope we take first place to help encourage new gamers to come.
ESO has been doing good things lately, getting some extra press out there about the quality of our game makes sense to me.

You do realize that Gina said nothing that the forum did not already know. Most of the issue was because the forum knew it but ZOS was not saying it in English.

The Champion System is a huge change and the Champion Point issue that has captured attention right now is, mark my words, going to be a minor issue.

ZOS still has a number of communication issues to work out. They have a lot of work to do improving the clarity and timeliness of how they deliver information, and I am not certain that they fully get this, yet. What Gina said on Sunday should have been said, word for word, on the Friday before Christmas.

The Champion System has the potential to be a game changing success, but if they bumble around with murky half statements that require interpretation to understand, they will make all of this 10x more stressful than it needs to be.

As for signing up on MMORPG.COM, there is little additional risk there than there is with bigger and more secure places, like Sony. Be mindful of what information you give them and you won't have to worry if they get hacked. That goes for everything you do on the internet.

As a former LotRO player who dearly misses the shadows of angmar/mines of Moria eras of the game I hope these yearly polls give them the funds to start producing content that will make me want to use my lifetime sub. SoA was such a great game.

I played LOTRO for six years. The constant penny scraping over every little thing in game after f2p killed it for me. Charging extra for festival quests put on ridiculous cooldowns etc. I am an ESO player now and as long as they are never so dumb as to destroy the game like LOTRO then l will be here for a while.

Incidentally almost celebrating my 1 year anniversary. Account was created on 7 Jan.

the MMO community has fallen far if LOTRO is one of the more popular MMO's nowadays.

LOTRO is a great story telling MMO yet it really sucks on the F2P side. And am stating that when your a subbed player. They still put up walls that push you to paying even more from the store.

TSW definitively gets my vote this round, I've had a chance to get to know some of their players, and they are all great. Such a great community going on there.

Like the last round, I'm gonna be spending a lot of time convincing people ingame to vote (Hopefully this time it doesn't get that close - on Friday I've spent 24 hours trying to get us the win, I'm not sure I can survive another round like that ). I'm on the EP side, so expect some heavy promoting in ALL zones.

Everyone that doesn't want to vote, just turn off your zone chat. I'd rather not be ignored by hundreds of people Try to survive these few days, so we can brag about 2014 MMO of the year!

FFXIV for me is much like modern WoW, with the exception they are adding hell of a lot content.

GW2 though, when it launched it was pretty damn impressive, however their content updates are so lackluster. So they've been very struggling for the past year.

Many ESO players are still playing LOTRO, I personally can't stand ''rebalanced'' version of my Captain (and we have Templars), but at least half of my LOTRO raiding alliance is still playing both games. So as mentioned above guys-lets win with style. LOTRO used to have best MMO community, sadly it was ruined by F2P (see Zeni, don't do that ).

As no one mentioned it yet, @ZOS_GinaBruno, @ZOS_JessicaFolsom, can we have new message on launcher please? We know you are busy and/or getting ready for New Year party ladies, but it will help us

A year ago LOTRO would have kicked this game's butt, but after Turbine nuked the game and killed it off, ESO will have this if they have resist the horde of LOTR fanboys who vote for the game just because of the name. There's really no reason at all for LOTRO to have made it this far except for name recognition. It's not a good game anymore, sadly.

ESO right now will get my vote but (to steal a little LOTR dialogue) "The quest stands upon the edge of a knife. Stray but a little and it will fail. But hope remains, if friends stay true." January and February will be very telling for ESO.

I can't do it, call me a LOTRO fanGIRL. Voting on ESO as a whole vs LOTRO as a whole, I can't vote ESO. This is a lot like that clip from The Newsroom about how the USA is not the greatest nation on earth...but it can be.

ESO in current form doesn't beat out LOTRO in current form "as a whole"...but it could. It easily could and maybe in 5 years it might. But it would be dishonest for me to say that it is currently better, when *I* feel like we are still playing beta.

You can always just walk away from the game. If ZOS does not deserve your confidence, do they deserve your money?

I think that ESO is a good MMO, despite the efforts of ZOS management to kill it off over the last 8 months. It is a very resilient game, particularly in the Level 1 to 50 range. In the right hands, it could have a stellar end-game and be a truly exceptional subscription MMO.

Compared to LOTRO, ESO is clearly the better game, but I am somewhat biased. Not surprisingly, that is all that matters in this contest. I vote for ESO because of this, not because of any love or hate for ZOS.

That message is what is won in this contest. In the end, it is not about ZOS, it is about the games.

If you truly think that LOTRO is the better game, vote for it. If you think ESO is the better game, vote for ESO. If you hate ZOS and don't care about LOTRO, don't vote for either.
