Wrong. Steam is currently using 36 MB. That's inconsequential. Not to mention, the game sales on Steam MORE than compensate for any perceived "bloat".
Seriously, I picked up Borderlands 2 and EVERY LAST BIT of DLC for the game for $4.99 recently.
You just can't beat that with a stick.
I don't care what it is using on your computer. I know what it was showing on mine which means it is bloatware. Like I said I don't care about steam. It is useless and I don't care about all these stupid single player games. I have not played a single player games since 2001.

I just bought the game on Steam. I think I deserve an account merge. I even sent a support ticket to them about it. I haven't gotten a response yet.
Were you able to use the steam version to log in to your old account?
Still downloading.
Why wouldn't you be able to? ZOS already stated its the same launcher, same patcher, same everything just launches from steam. It should still bring up the same user/pass login.

For whatever reason, ZOS appears to be designing and marketing their game on whims. I can't wait to hear the ex-ZOS-employee comments that are sure to happen sometime at the end of the year, or next year, after the first dev layoffs take place.
It's like Star Wars: The Old Republic all over again. Maybe the HERO engine is just cursed.
This game does not run on the Hero Engine.
We'll see. The download is taking all day and night.

Yes, actually it does. Or at least, it runs on an engine highly compatible with HERO. It uses the same assets and file structure, for example. It's also interesting that when you glitch under the world, or glitch into areas that aren't finished, the default textures and everything look pretty much identical to what you'd see in HERO engine.
I don't doubt they built on the source code, in the same way Bioware did. I just see all kinds of indications that it's not truly "built from the ground up" or anything.
Also, the whole HERO Engine logo that pops up when you start the game should tell you it served a greater purpose than simply "early testing and prototyping."
That's a great piece of logic, kassandrathecleric. Unfortunately for Zenimax, if I don'get a Steam key, I'll just be cancelling my sub out of frustration, and they won't have to worry about losing any cut in revenue, because there will be no revenue.
Pretty easy.
hahaahahahahaha
this is exactly what is wrong with people. The word 'cancel' loses all value when people toss it around like this. No one in their right mind would cancel a game they already bought because you wont get a steam key much later then when it released, especially when back when it did release, and you bought the game, no mention of it going to steam was ever made. I mean c'mon.
That's funny. Myself and three other guildmates canceled our subs last night.
Every community is littered with pissed off people right now.
Guess you're just flat out wrong, huh.
When you dissapear from the forums I'll be wrong, until then I lump you into the big category of people here who act like they cancel every time something isn't exactly the way they want it, but mysteriously keep posting......myyssterioussllyyy...
Add it as a non-steam game and most of your complaints become invalid. Dog, trading cards, achievements, only things that doesn't resolve. You didn't know or care about them 2 days ago, you only care now because its something to throw a fit about. Its sad but soon, other retailers might get 'special bonus items' that you wont have access to either, are you going to throw a fit every time that happens and you didn't get the gamestop pet, or benefit or whatever, and act like its Zenimax throwing it in your face?
Ive had TESO in my steam list as a non-steam game since november of last November of last year when I got invited into beta. No issues to report, works great. Have overlay, see friends, blah blah blah blah blah.
Things I dont need: steam key.
If you don't need a Steam key, why are you in a thread labeled Steam keys?
Do you have nothing better to do with your life than sit in places where people are discussing things you don't care about?
That's actually kind of depressing. I hope your status improves, friend.
I could be wrong but it would actually be more work for them to have to add in a flag on your account that says "steam user" and then support 2 different variations of login method/auth or the auth screen. The launcher is the same between them, that was stated clearly. Hopefully they will clear up the confusion but it sure seems silly to somehow lock a steam install to anything more then providing a legit key, because what if your friends come over and want to log in to check their ***, or whatever reasons someone might log in at a friends.

That explains how ridiculous the "forum community" is. And lets hope ZoS doesn't listen to spoiled prats lurching here.

By your own logic, if you feckin' canceled, why the feck are you still here posting??? You shouldn't be here either!

To do this, head to "Games" option within Steam and select "Add Non-Steam Game to My Library." Then, select the checkbox next to "The Elder Scrolls Online" and click "Add Selected Programs."
And you're not the only one, but ZOS doesn't seem to care much so far.Am I mad we aren't getting free steam keys, or at least the ability to link our old account with a steam key?
Absolutely. Considering console players will be getting free transfers, what is the difference between transferring to that platform vs transferring steam? It should be even easier on a technical level.
So what if Steam will take a cut of your sales? I'm going to hazard a guess and say Sony and Microsoft will be taking their cut as well.
I'm sure a lot of us would be willing to shell out $18 bucks to cover the 30% just to link our account even though that'd be more than meeting you halfway.
I just don't get it.

It's quite ridiculous to see how poorly they handle their communication.

I never installed Skyrim after buying it because of that.
Yes, I know this is an on-line game but by using them you're encouraging their obnoxious brand of DRM for non-internet games.

You do not need internet to play skyrim, you simply set steam to run in offline mode. I play skyrim all the time from my steam console when not hooked up to the internet.
