There's a patch tomorrow. I'd bet my mudcrab that's when they'll give us the dog.

I assumed they would put it in the cash shop which would mean a patch would effect it appearing at all.

Well, I know the white wolfhound was already in the game, but the brown one? They'd have to add the textures if they didn't already exist, which would require a patch. They also are probably waiting until after the Steam sale is over, for obvious reasons, and I'm sure they want to get it to us as soon as they can so we'll shut up.

So, basically they can't give us the dog if we don't have the textures for it.

er the textures are there, it's just a different color. It would take all of ten seconds for them to switch it up, and since the dog as a pet is already in the files, it has existed for awhile.

Even if they had to make new textures, the texture involved wouldn't be particularly time consuming.

I love how many people join these threads saying "I wish this topic would die already," and bump the thread to the top of the active polls chart.

I also love how people complaining about Zenimax giving veteran players the finger by offering exclusives to new players are called whiners by the same people who cry about those "whiners".

I also loved the debate I saw a couple threads ago about the guy who started the "if you give me the monkey I'll give you the dog" argument and despite being told multiple times he can have the monkey, still hasn't offered any means of getting the dog.

I'm not so upset about the dog so much as the way Zenimax handled this situation. They knew players wanted a dog, they knew they needed to draw in new players, so someone thought "Lets make a dog and offer it only to new players. Who cares if we *** off such a big portion of the players who's stood by us through thick and thin when we can draw in new players who may or may not be willing to stay with us past the free 30 day trial."

The question I have to ask is; has the guy from Zenimax's marketing department that thought this was a good idea been fired yet? I'm almost positive at this point that he's trying to ruin your company and I think anyone with half a brain at your company could see that. There really is no personal gain to be made by pissing off the people who stood with you and defended you while so many big name media companies called you a "sinking ship" just so you can draw in some extra customers who you don't even know will stay past the 30 day trial. This game has enough flaws in it that many veteran players were on the edge of calling it quits and I can guarantee that many took this as the last straw. I guess congratulations are in order, however, because it's not very often that someone like Zenimax, who needs all the player base support they can get, has the galls to shun their supportive players in the hopes of gaining potential players who may or may not every pay for a subscription. I hope their $48 was worth the support of so many of the players who have defended you in these last few months.

Well, he is guilty of one thing. Under-estimating the maturity of the customer base, that is for sure.

Offering the same pet, of a different color, seems like a very fair compromise.

You can't compromise with these people. It HAS to be the white one, it HAS to be free and they want it NOW.

No you cant comprise by giving me a second rated crap i did not ask for to try to make up for big mistakes.

They wanted to sell for 50%, hell 75% , i dont care , it is fine , i paid what i paid when the game got out. I also wont complain about the steam support , i did not buy on steam , so yeah , i would prefer to have it , but im ok not having it.

I dont even want the dog much , it is the stupididy that zen insist on showing all the time that is the issue , hell , how do there people dont get fired after making these calls . Then again maybe they do we just dont know about it.
Every game in the history of ever has done limited time and exclusive offers. Just because you don't like your exclusive monkey doesn't mean you are entitled to someone else's exclusive wolfhound.

Mate , i wont even bother responding to your every game in history comment , that one was so absurd , that there is no point.

Anyway , lets hope zen either learned or got someone that already knew it finally to direct this game , cause even incompetence must have a limit.

Yes people should be fired because you didn't get a dog. Heads need to roll!

Heh , you may try to pass this off anyway you want mate , the issue like i said is not about the dog , it is about making stupid calls.

I dont care if it is a dog, a dungeon , a class or even a freaking entire zone.

They should not give content only to new players on a game with paid a subs.

    That simple.

I do hope whoever made the call got fired , hell , if i was in the position i would fire him/her myself , must not be hard to get someone more competent than that in his/her place. In the end , probably only got an earful.

I'm so glad people like you don't have that kind of power. It shocks me that you think you not getting access to a vanity pet, (which is all it is, there is no principal of the matter bs, this is the way every game ever has done it,) should cause another human being to lose their livelihood.

People like you, that call for this kind of thing, should be fired in their own place of work for something ridiculously trivial and have to live homeless for a few months for the meaning of their words to sink in properly.

There is no game that does not offer exclusive content at some point in time. You are not entitled to such things by virtue of just paying for the game. ZOS has caved and given you a future option for a pet that is the same thing, just a different color. Yet you still whine and complain and demand to be handed everything you want.

Heh , sorry , i dont accept well bad service and yes , i believe anyone who cant deliver that much should lose their job and give it to someone who can. Plenty of people who need a job , give it to one who deserves it , dont keep people who cant deliver out of pity.

Incompetence is the issue here , therefore , just get someone who is can do a good job and problem solved.

Again , it is the issue , today it was a pet , tomorrow maybe something else.

If you think that is ok on a sub based game , that is ok to you. To me that is a proof that they need a wake up call.

The irony of you saying I need a wake up call is laughable.

This is not a slippery slope issue. As I said and you continue to ignore, possibly because you are actively trolling at this point, this is how it is done in every other game. There is nothing new going on here. There is no incompetence involved in any way shape or form. No screw up, no mistakes. I now genuinely feel ZOS shouldn't have caved and offered the dog in another color because it encourages this toxic behavior you are engaging in.

Here's hoping you get fired. ^____^

I obviously agree with you, but at this point, ZoS has made their bed and can lie in it for all I care. They will soon realize they have fed the monster and will have to cater to this from here on out.

Believe me, that is the argument I made time and time again. It falls on deaf ears. (or entitled ears).

If the hound is exclusive to Quake Con attendees, whereby anyone at the convention could claim the code, I'm fine.

If all steam players or people who link their accounts to steam gets that code, and everyone is able to link existing account to steam, I'm fine.

If they release 200 codes on the forums and I was not online to grab it, it's okay, I'm slow.

Problem is, it's exclusive to a new copy of the game purchased during quake con through steam.

People and supporters who traveled to quake con? Nope, sorry, no dog for you.

Those who cared enough to have watched quake con and ESO panel online? Haha idiots! The new players get these, you can sxck it for buying early! In your face!

Players who loves steam but already own the game? Nope! No doggie for you too!

People who went through months of BS game breaking bugs and performance issues? Yet to be fixed up to now? Who has paid months of subs? Who went through beta and has kept an eye on development even before that? *finger*

What would have been better is, they release that package along with an exclusive 3 days standalone dog for quake con. There wouldn't have been such a commotion.

The problem is: It's limited, it's exclusive, but it's done the wrong way.

Honestly, they should come up with a loyalty program. That would probably squash at least some of this concern (of course, you aren't going to make everyone happy even with that from what I have seen on here).

I have a real dog, though I imagine you don't if you can't grasp the concept I and so many others have pointed out. She's right here next to me watching tv while I type this reply.

I'm using real life rescue dogs as an example because it's a really good fit. In this case, Zenimax would be the adoption center because they're selling dogs, and in this case they have advertised a dog but are unwilling to sell it to veteran players simply because they are veteran players. It's not as if the dog isn't up for adoption, new players can buy the dog, but veteran players are not allowed to adopt the dog because they are not new players.

Then again, I'm talking to a guy who can't even grasp why people are so peeved about this in the first place, and accuses me of crying and stomping my feet because I pointed out simple facts, so I could explain it as many times as I wanted and I seriously doubt you'd get it in the end.

P.S. One of those "lol" votes you just got for that is from me ;)

Oh god, you admitted to passive-aggressively lol'ing my post. Am I supposed to be angry?

I have had plenty of real life dogs. Many of them rescues. As a compassionate dog owner I am able to see the difference between a virtual pet and a real one. I know this might be confusing, but these are not actual dogs up for adoption. They are not living creatures. of course, were it a real dog, what would matter would be it getting adopted to a good home, not being a reward for entitled players.

The analogy is terrible, and yet you keep pushing it. Also, for some inexplicable reason, you are getting angry. Sometimes, in life, people will disagree with you. You might even discuss these disagreements. There's no need to be spiteful or passive-aggressive if this happens. No one is out to get you.

I like how the only counter arguements people can come up with in regards to my last couple posts are to call me a whiner and try to ignore the facts I've pointed out by making them all about the dog. Yes, while the dog is the main example I used in my posts, the facts stated are not solely about the dog. Any biased readers will get what they want from it, which simply means that you're just as biased against the dog as players who want the dog are biased toward it.

You guys have completely overlooked or ignored the fact that I was talking about marketing techniques and this shows that you're here to post for one reason and one reason only, you want attention.

Seriously, so many people are being over the top about this. Suggesting someone should be fired for not giving you a free dog, or a white dog, or whatever your particular complaint about this is is ridiculous.

It's like the most vocal portion of the MMO base is 15 year old boys.

If you think it's just about the dog, you lack the ability to comprehend others intent and should not be criticizing others intelligence.

Right it's the principle of the matter, that's why you complained so hard that beta testers got the monkey, amirite?

Well, I know the white wolfhound was already in the game, but the brown one? They'd have to add the textures if they didn't already exist, which would require a patch. They also are probably waiting until after the Steam sale is over, for obvious reasons, and I'm sure they want to get it to us as soon as they can so we'll shut up.

So, basically they can't give us the dog if we don't have the textures for it.

They don't have to add anything, the brown one was already in the files. People are acting like they caved to the whining and just made it on the spot. There's quite a few minipets in the game files that aren't obtainable yet, this is one of them.

er the textures are there, it's just a different color. It would take all of ten seconds for them to switch it up, and since the dog as a pet is already in the files, it has existed for awhile.

Even if they had to make new textures, the texture involved wouldn't be particularly time consuming.
No, it shouldn't take much time at all to just recolor the texture(s), but they still needed to wait until the Steam sale was over to put the dog up on the store, and since everyone was at QuakeCon and they skipped last week's maintenance, they couldn't very well push a patch until this week's first maintenance.

I did complain. So hard? Well, when I call customer support, they tell me to take it to the forums, so I think I have a right to voice my opinions. No one is forcing you to read these complaints, and if you really don't care, why are you trying so hard to prove to other people that they shouldn't feel unsatisfied when a company gives out desirable things which do not have equally available items to compensate?

My complaint about the monkey was clear and you can look it up. I said it many times, I didn't care that they gave out a monkey, I was only irritated that we could not get anything equally cool such as a cat or a dog. I was irritated that a really cool mammal had been given out, and the only thing the rest of us could get was a crab or mini armless dino. I wanted a real pet.

Then they go and do this, which is pretty much just pouring salt into the wound. I have been a customer for a couple months now, and have asked for a dog or cat many times, and who do they give it to? People who didn't care enough about ESO to already have bought it.

If you are going to post publicly, expect to have people comment on your posts. If that bothers you, don't post in the first place. I am entitled to disagree with you as much as you are entitled to make the complaint in the first place.

I'm not even referring to you as an individual, but more as you as in the camp you are part of. There was no intense outcry over the monkey. Though that, too, would be silly.

There's no outcry for the monkey because the monkey can still be purchased for very cheap via outside sources. There is no need to complain about not being able to get something that you can still get.
You assume we are bothered by the thread being bumped. I love a good trainwreck as much as the next person, and enjoy these threads.

So why do so many posts (not yours specifically) state something along the lines of "why are you guys still QQ about this?"
We are well aware of the complaint about marketing techniques. Most of us think you are wrong and just like to complain. Some people enjoy the attention. /shrug

Instead of sounding like a kid who repeats himself over and over to get his point, how about making some viable arguments then? Offer unbiased facts to counter arguments instead of saying "oh, you're just upset about the dog" again and again? If you actually want people to take you even semi serious, you need to not sound like a child who's trying to get his cut of the attention and offer some reason for us to take you seriously.

See, you are capable of making decent arguments (I agree with you here), now just make more so we can tell you apart from the rest of the guys who just whine about "whiners" for attention.

Everything else is just opinion. You feel slighted because you didn't get that thing that another player got, I feel you were not slighted at all.

Beta test keys still exist and are still being sold, so yes, the monkey can be purchased. It cannot be purchased directly from Zenimax, but that does not change the fact that you can purchase beta keys from vendors and ask Zenimax to apply them to your game.

You can not obtain them from Zenimax. They can not be responsible for you obtaining things from an unofficial source. There are also a limited amount, so at some point that font will run dry.

The wolfhound vanity pet is a limited-time bonus available only to those who buy the Imperial Edition of The Elder Scrolls Online through Steam.

Sadly.. ZOS is just going out of its way to *** off customers. Guys you are just bound and determined to go F2P in less time than STWOR!

Yes.. I'd like a dog and a pig pet as well, but I'm not going to attend a conference or buy the game via Steam anytime soon. Jeez.

How about you throw a BONE to the SUB's from day 1 that have owned Imperial addition?

Any related to your argument if you want to argue a point. Honestly, anyone who wants to make a statement can find proof of their statement if they're determined. The fact that you do not, and keep resorting to "you're just upset about the dog" statements simply proves that you are just being lazy and childish in the matter.
I have stated that this has been done by every game in the history of ever (or at least within recent memory) and Steam is constantly doing exclusive limited time sales.

"Firor added that the subscription fee gives players access to the whole game world, rather than locking content as many free-to-play games do."

After you make a statement which basically states you will exclude p2p content and exclusive content, making exclusive content just makes you a liar. I support Zenimax making a store where you can buy petty vanity items if you want them. I bought some costumes off gw1 and gw2 back when I played just to support Arenanet back in the day.

Yea the last part completely nullified any point you might have made. Especially considering that person had to argue the whole thing in the ground and insisted on getting the last word.

A promotional vanity pet is not content, no matter how you try to spin it.

You have yet to provide facts that prove any of your points. This is entirely based on your opinion of having been shafted as a player.

You have made the claim, so give me something solid to debate. Not that any of this is fact based. There would have to be solid facts for their to be evidence to link. Perceived slights are opinion, not fact. I shouldn't have to explain that.

For me to find "proof" for my opinion on the issue, I guess I could just link other posts that agree with me. :?.

    The definition of content.

Do I really need to repaste my post again or could you kindly not be so lazy and just go back to it on your own this time?

Posting other people's opinions does not make those opinions anything more than reposted opinions.

Edit* Definition of content I'm referring to is 1) Noun, not adjective, and 2) 1a on the list of definitions. Exclusive "content" is still content.
