Have a read through this if you want. It explains current market patterns.

Now look at this paragraph in particular:

"The pay-to-play MMO market has been shrinking since 2010, dropping from 30.6 million monthly active subscribers worldwide to 23.4 million this year. To offset the loss of revenue, several key titles have incorporated or switched entirely to a microtransaction-based revenue model. In the past five years, the percentage of revenue for subscription-based MMO generated via additional in-game microtransactions has roughly doubled from 14% for 27%. In addition, the average digital spend, in addition to the monthly fee, has tripled from $16 to $46, worldwide. Despite the overall decline, this category has so far managed to maximize their ability to monetize a shrinking yet loyal player base."

Note the part in bold, and mull through for a bit while players who see this type of thing are concerned about the content and game going forward. Paying more on average to experience less is not a very good thing for gaming as a whole, unless you are a business or marketing major.

That's one argument; another being it's just plain wrong to give more access to new players (as they can obtain beta/preorder content) than subscribers who have been invested with you from the start.

    That is a sad truth.

Miflett, I don't need you telling me to keep it civil when the post wasn't even regarding you. Perhaps you should mind your own business? And if you can come on here and complain about everything under the son including a vanity pet for days on end, then where do you come in telling me how to spend my time?

I'm not here to get upset or tell anyone what they can or cannot do, I just think you could be a little more respectful of other human beings when making your point.

I'm not trying to white knight either, you have your opinion, and I have mine. You have my word that this is the last time I'll respond to you unless you want me to defend something I've said regarding this matter.

    No hard feelings.
  • txfeinbergsub17_ESO
Miflett, not a big deal. Honestly, I have let myself get worked up over this stupid dog too much. I just don't agree with the complain until you get something philosophy, but I am definitely not going to change that behavior on a gaming website, and since ZOS has no backbone (as has been proven time and time again with the nerfs, starter island changes, etc), they can live with the problem they have created.

If they don't make it somewhat difficult to get, then everyone's gunna be running around with the same dog. I'd say $5 is fair.'id pay $10 though.

Paying for it would not make it difficult to get. That said, I hope it doesn't end up in a cash shop.

I'm almost certain the agreement between ZOS and Steam required an exclusivity in the agreement to provide the game on Steam for sale

To the best of my knowledge that is not a requirement for selling on Steam. I also don't think, though I could be wrong, that Steam would take issue if ZOS decided to extend the Whiterun Wolfhound to existing subscribers.

Actually, if we were to use a phone service as the comparison, what ZoS did would be something like...

I buy a phone. I ask my provider to add a cool game to the phone for me to have fun with. Three months later, the company discounts the phone to a new store and includes the game I wanted. They do not allow me to purchase this game as it is only available to people who buy the exact same phone at this new store. This kind of service would push me to find a new phone company.

DISCLAIMER: I am no employee nor sales partner nor in any other way affiliates with G2A. I only wish for people to make up their own minds, before just dismissing the unknown and foreign.

G2A is a reseller of game licenses bought in Eastern Europe and Russia, where games are officially sold a lot cheaper, which goes back to unregulated IP and copyrights. IIRC it was Russia were you could legally buy copies of games and not original licenses in shops - or at least without fear of prosecution.

Apparently that has changed, but to convince people buying original products, prices had to be lowered significantly. Sites like G2A take advantage of this fact and most of the time you can too. As long as the products are not region locked, you shouldn't run into problems.

    Is it safe?
It's the internet, nothing is. So use precautions.

    Is it legal?
It's a legal EU company operating out of Krakau, Poland bound by EU law. Will they always abide by those laws or do they have the power to ensure their business partners always abide them? Who knows, but so it's with every other company.

Personally, I know of only one occasion - other than region lock issues (which can be resolved via proxy / VPN) - where keys weren't legit. Albeit this only after the developer/publisher withdrawing those keys, saying they were stolen.

AFAIK, where and how they were stolen wasn't disclosed, neither how they ended up in G2A's portfolio. Fact is, G2A makes a lot of money. Fact is, they are putting pressure on western market prices.
"You've probably figured that out by now. Let's hope so. Or we're in real trouble... and out come the intestines. And I skip rope with them!"

I guess there's really not too much left to be said unless anyone new to the conversation has something to add. This will probably all lead to no real change in the end, but I've definitely made my point known. I will intently follow how ZOS reacts, and will make a hard decision if necessary.

All I do ask, however, is for ZOS to be aware of how bitter a taste it leaves in my mouth, personally, for new users to still be able to acquire beta and explorer's pack contents on top of this new limited content.

Even that last paragraph itself paints me a little hypocritical; I prefer content to not be time limited, and freely available to all. I've never been one to deny someone something that gives me pleasure, as I would never want the same in return.

As an aside, all it takes is just one look to some online resellers and websites to realize just how much some 'digital pixels' are to a fanbase. To predatorily capitalize on that basic want, in my opinion, is just as greedy a move as the resellers themselves.

... and I have made my point known as well i.e. that ZOS should not have given in here, but I guess we are going to be stuck reliving this nightmare for eons to come whenever anyone feels that they should have something just because someone else got one.

Some of us dont take any crap served to us silently , some actually voice it out when they get this.

and one other thing.... anytime in the future, if you ever disagree with someone because they are not happy about some aspect of the game, you are a hypocrite based on your above statement. I suspect something you probably have already done many times. You see, what you see as "crap", other's may not see it that way, and vice versa.

    Nope , not really.

See , i dont go into threads to tell people how the subject is irrelevant unless it is not even in the game yet or for some reason we cant form a opinion on it.

I may go to agree/disagree , may add something...

But this whole thing about going there to tell people how irrilevant to complain because they think X is not right , not my thing.

So yes , maybe my view on many things may vary , hell , i disagree with people all the time. That does not mean i tell them they should shut up about it cause it is irrelevant.

Ok, so I won't find a single thread anywhere on these forums telling people their view is not correct and they should not say it? Because I am going to look and call you out on it...

Suit youself , my profile got my whole post history , you are welcome to it , it is public.

Update 3 looks nice so.. I might come back anyway. But my cancellation is on principle. You can't screw your consumers and expect to get away with it.

You are not the only one coming to this conclusion.

Supported this game for 2 months just to keep it going , really reconsidering that position now.

But that would mean only people who actually want it will be able to get it. While people who feel meh about it won't get it. If it's easy to get Ingame then everyone will just get it for the sake of it and everyone will run around with the same dog.
