Um...nobody said it has to be free. There were people willing to buy the full Imperial Edition again in the hopes that they could get the code for the dog and add it to their existing account. Needless to say, they were disappointed.

On top of that, plenty of people are happy with the brown dog we're getting, including myself.

Actually, SEVERAL people said it has to be free, so you are wrong there. A simple search would have shown you that. Also, many people have said it had to be the white one.

you get to play the game for your money, as was advertised. Not once has ZOS said you will get access to every exclusive offer ever.

That was never promised, it is not a given in any sense of the word.

I love how many people join these threads saying "I wish this topic would die already," and bump the thread to the top of the active polls chart.

I also love how people complaining about Zenimax giving veteran players the finger by offering exclusives to new players are called whiners by the same people who cry about those "whiners".

I also loved the debate I saw a couple threads ago about the guy who started the "if you give me the monkey I'll give you the dog" argument and despite being told multiple times he can have the monkey, still hasn't offered any means of getting the dog.

I'm not so upset about the dog so much as the way Zenimax handled this situation. They knew players wanted a dog, they knew they needed to draw in new players, so someone thought "Lets make a dog and offer it only to new players. Who cares if we *** off such a big portion of the players who's stood by us through thick and thin when we can draw in new players who may or may not be willing to stay with us past the free 30 day trial."

The question I have to ask is; has the guy from Zenimax's marketing department that thought this was a good idea been fired yet? I'm almost positive at this point that he's trying to ruin your company and I think anyone with half a brain at your company could see that. There really is no personal gain to be made by pissing off the people who stood with you and defended you while so many big name media companies called you a "sinking ship" just so you can draw in some extra customers who you don't even know will stay past the 30 day trial. This game has enough flaws in it that many veteran players were on the edge of calling it quits and I can guarantee that many took this as the last straw. I guess congratulations are in order, however, because it's not very often that someone like Zenimax, who needs all the player base support they can get, has the galls to shun their supportive players in the hopes of gaining potential players who may or may not every pay for a subscription. I hope their $48 was worth the support of so many of the players who have defended you in these last few months.

Not everyone takes the crap that the company try to serve without complaining. They made a huge mistake , they need to learn from it.

By your estimations doing a good job is not enough. You have to pander to every unhappy player or else get cut.

Think if that really happened. The staff would be constantly rotating to make you feel better. You're probably already wealthy, no one besides the already entitled and pampered would expect such things. The rest of us, in the real world, have realistic expectations because we do not live in a reality where everyone bends to our whims, however ridiculous they may be.

To be honest, in 2014 this is no longer enough. Simply getting to play the game is something any number of F2P mmo can also offer.

As I've previously said, subscriptions have a fight on their hands right now.

As we speak there are still thousand of people waiting for this game to go F2P. In their minds it will and they are just waiting for that day to come.

Now I hope it doesn't. I like subscriptions, I really do. But if you can't show your subscribers that you value them and take them into consideration at moments like this you're going to lose people.

ESO is a great game but it's had issues both past and present. Heck, there isn't even a way to get hold of a GM in this game, that's unprecedented for me in any subscription based MMO.

What would have been better is, they release that package along with an exclusive 3 days standalone dog for quake con. There wouldn't have been such a commotion.

The problem is: It's limited, it's exclusive, but it's done the wrong way.

I don't understand how this is a sticking point. I think you are manufacturing situations where this would be okay in an attempt to validate unreasonable expectations of the staff.

This is something small they have offered as an incentive to potential new players. There is nothing wrong with that. I can understand the upset over it being a dog, we all love dogs. But there will be a future dog offered that everyone has access to. This should have assuaged your discontent.

Splitting hairs over the color of the dog you get is just silly.

Whoever is running the marketing department for ZoS needs to be replaced. The developers are working hard, listening to the players concerns and fixing the game to try and improve their experience, and yet the marketing department seem to be trying their best to run the game's reputation into the ground.

It was bad enough putting the imperial race behind a pay wall as this was a very unpopular decision and was heavily criticized in pretty much every early review of the game (most of which are still top of the list on YouTube). Now they are adding even more paid exclusives and this time penalizing their existing player base, the very people they should be praising for their continued support through a buggy launch.

He's saying you're not entitled to free stuff because it's not in TOS. Which makes whatever in TOS to be more important than what's not.

Hence I made my remark.

Just because one is not obliged to do so, doesn't mean they shouldn't do it. Similarly, just because one has the power to destroy, doesn't mean they should destroy.

ZOS is not obliged to entertain the customers that has subscribed for months, but they should really do so in order to keep them happy.

right but your comment was still fairly unrelated. You are asking for something that is not there, your comparison makes the assumption that that is the same as ZOS acting on something in the TOS arbitrarily. Apples to oranges.

That is great if you get something that is not in the TOS, but you are not entitled to things that are not in there.

1) We've been told we will eventually be able to get a dog with no timeline or idea on means. Simply meaning, we're expected to be sated by a response that may as well have stated that "a year from now, there will be a brown dog listed on the store."

2) People don't want an accessory dog that will follow them, they want a dog for their character to have as a companion for rp and immersion factors. While some people do, most dog owners don't go to a pound and adopt a dog just for the sake of having a dog, they look for a dog that they or their families will connect with on a personal level.

3) The announcement of the brown and retriever hounds came after this thread was app 17 pages, and without giving any time frame or "how to" suggests that Zenimax didn't even plan on releasing a dog to the veteran players until after they realized how pissed they were about it.

None of what you said changes anything.

Personally, I want to RP being married to a harvester, and it breaks my immersion that I can't have a harvester pet immediately. ZOS isn't really obligated to fulfill that desire, nor are they doing anything wrong by not doing so.

There should have been no announcements of future dogs. Look how unappreciative you all are even after they caved.

People want the dog that they want and given that there is only one dog, with word on two additional ones sometime in the future, players wish to be given the choice between which dog they want out of all of them without having the animal shelter tell them they can only choose from these two even though all three are up for adoption.

You on the other hand are complaining that you can't get any dog this very instant. Which is also silly, as well as impatient.

There is a very big difference between complaining about wanting something, and pointing out facts. Facts...

1) We've been told we will eventually get a dog, but have not been told when or how.

2) People in real life who go to a shelter with the intention of adopting a dog are very, very unlikely to simply adopt the first dog they see. Almost all of them will walk around and try to find a dog that suits them individually or will be a good fit for their family.

3) Zenimax did not mention the addition of two additional dogs until this thread was approximately 17 pages long, and only stated that eventually they will become available without giving any further information. This creates the suggestion that they did not intend to release dogs to veteran players until they realized that they were so pissed off about it.

You call it complaining, but calling someone a complainer just because they point out unbiased facts simply makes you ignorant in regards to the views of others.

You obviously have not read half the posts on this thread by the people who complain about wanting the white dog and why they want it. Your suggestion about the Harvester and your char is invalid as it has nothing to do with this thread and is quite obviously meant as an exaggerated example of why players shouldn't be given everything they want. Your "rp immersion" is something that would be far fetched at the least and is not likely something that Zenimax has even thought about. Maybe you should make a suggestion thread if you really want it? That said, a dog is something obviously much more covetted than Harvester marriage and by far more obvious to the marketers and developers.

I'm unnapreciative of their announcement because, as I said, they might as well have stated that "a year from now, there will be a brown dog listed on the store.". For all I know, dogs wont be available until five years from now and only if I buy one from the store for five easy payments of $29.95.

A lot of people seem to be confusing the issue as something people want for free, when in reality, for myself, I'd just like the option to obtain this content. It is possible still to apply old explorer and beta codes to these steam accounts, making it an actual fact that new accounts have access to more content.

Why do you keep using real life rescue dogs as a comparison. That is in no way parallel. This is pretend, in real life an actual live dog that had needs and the capability to suffer or be happy is involved. The pretend dog is not even a particularly advanced ai, it just knows how to follow you and has a bark sound and animation.

If you can't tell the difference, for the love of god never get a real life dog. They are much more complex than that and there are dire consequences if you can't tell the difference.

Who cares if they didn't intend to release a dog for you originally and what length your whinge thread was before they commented. They commented, they stated they would sell one in the future, it has been all of a few days since and you are still crying and stomping your feet.
