Any Way for Existing Customers to get the Whiterun Wolfhound?

Please link to where you found the Steam wolfhound stats, and how the brown version of the same thing has crappier stats. Please. Considering its a vanity pet afaik and doesn't really have stats.

If you don't want the crappy brown dog, don't get it. Just like the palomino horse, it isn't required to play the game.

Seems to me that there will inevitably be a range of pets available for cash in the end, as with most games. What I find interesting and disheartening is that any games company could possibly think that prior customers would not resent the sudden introduction of the world's most common and therefore emotionally impactful pet without making it, even for cash, available to their current subscribers.

I try not to be judgemental, but it doesn't take much of the old grey matter to foresee that people who have forked out for a crab or a monkey might possibly resent the mew option of a dog.

Yes, i know that the brown version will be available soon, and speaking only for myself I would actually prefer that. But a lot of people won't. Also, it is, let's be honest, in itself a footlingly small issue in terms of the quality of the game.

What makes me groan with despair is that Zenimax shows yet again that it is so utterly out of psychological empathy with its subscriber base.

I like the game. I love the Elder Scrolls world. But we all know that Zenimax is on the back foot and playing catch-up with its customers. So why oh why at that point introduce something that is so predictably annoying and divisive without giving a proper palliative those existing subscribers who will be put out by it?

It's just the sort of amateur and sloppy customer service that they seemed finally to be sorting out and moving away from....

Apparently you'll be able to get it, so you'll be fine.

I'll have the option of not getting either/any of them, and I'll be happy, too. So its good.

I guess there's really not too much left to be said unless anyone new to the conversation has something to add. This will probably all lead to no real change in the end, but I've definitely made my point known. I will intently follow how ZOS reacts, and will make a hard decision if necessary.

All I do ask, however, is for ZOS to be aware of how bitter a taste it leaves in my mouth, personally, for new users to still be able to acquire beta and explorer's pack contents on top of this new limited content.

Even that last paragraph itself paints me a little hypocritical; I prefer content to not be time limited, and freely available to all. I've never been one to deny someone something that gives me pleasure, as I would never want the same in return.

As an aside, all it takes is just one look to some online resellers and websites to realize just how much some 'digital pixels' are to a fanbase. To predatorily capitalize on that basic want, in my opinion, is just as greedy a move as the resellers themselves.

    Pretty much.

That road to the future does seem nice , but it seems to be a very long road the way they do things sometimes.

Zenimax is contractually obligated now to only offer the Whiterun Wolfhound to Steam customers. In order to promote the game through steam and offer this pet exclusively, they would have been forced to sign a contract and thus, cannot go against it without legal retribution from Steam.

That said, they could offer the Whiterun Wolfhound to veteran players who would be willing to buy an "upgrade" to their account through Steam which gives veteran players access to the Steam community and the dog. Given that many players repurchased the game (I did not but I know many have) without knowing they would not be allowed to add the dog or Steam access to their current account, it makes sense marketing wise to take advantage of this. Only problem is that Zenimax would sound greedy if they did this... but then again, they do offer a vanity horse and Guar plush (with vanity pet) through the game store so I think it's a little too late to avoid this.

Or put a different dog in the ESO store for like 5-$10.

Or not. Especially not for 5-$10.

If they don't make it somewhat difficult to get, then everyone's gunna be running around with the same dog. I'd say $5 is fair.'id pay $10 though.

It's not about the dog, seriously. It's original customers, pioneers if you will, don't get the respect they deserve. I don't want an unfair advantage in-game compared to new players, but what I do want is the recognition that I believed in this game from the beginning. I continue to stand by it because it's fun and brings me enjoyment, even though ZOS seems to think it's ok to provide exclusive content to Steam customers. I'm almost certain the agreement between ZOS and Steam required an exclusivity in the agreement to provide the game on Steam for sale, and I'm almost certain as well that integration between the steam client and its functions is also in the agreement to continue its sale and advertisement. ZOS really need to show us pioneers some love and tell us we haven't been forgotten for new customers.
