Any Way for Existing Customers to get the Whiterun Wolfhound?

I see the hatred over a Steam launch and I can start preparing popcorn for the Console launch....

There is very little hateover the steam launch alone , the more players the better , the 50% is perfectly fine.

The issue is giving away new things only to new players and giving the current ones the finger.

My current issue is with the fact that every promotional item thus far is obtainable to new steam accounts with a little searching, while current players are shafted out of a full experience.

It is annoying and if this is how zen intends to going , the current customers will only get worse and worse treatment.

The fact is , we are locked outside content that is only for new players. This time it is a dog , god knows what it will be next time.

If anything , zen is making it clear that being a loyal customer is a stupid call in ESO.

Well it's sure as heck making the decision easier, that's a fact. All this over a self-inflicted problem makes me honestly sad. I want to love this game - from the oldschool thought put into it to the PvP focus of guilds, but decisions such as this really turn me off as an aware customer.

Yeap , im trying , have been trying for months now , but zen seem set on making me quit.

Hey, everyone. We’ve received many questions about how non-Steam customers can get the in-game ESO Whiterun Wolfhound pet that is currently an exclusive part of the Steam offer. While the grey wolfhound will remain an exclusive through Steam, we will be offering a brown version of the Wolfhound pet (tentatively called the Riften Woflhound) at some point in the future. Stay tuned for more details on how you'll be able to get your hands on one.

I feel regret that your company felt bullied enough by your customers to come up with this type of response. If I knew any of you in person, I would take you all out for drinks (it's payday, what the Hell) and thank you for providing a game that I have so thoroughly enjoyed without any of this vanity pet nonsense.

Totally agree. If I worked in this industry I would probably quit after listening to the whine-fest on these forums.

I am a forum moderator for a different game company.
I consider ESO forum input to actually be relatively well structured and reasonable in comparison to the garbage I have to clean up.

So in the end , we get a crappy version to shut us up ... nice.

What? The one that just shook a nice pet out of Zenimax's rather dumb customer relations division. OK.

I have no problem with them offering limited edition goodies for new subs, every game I know of does this. if they offer the goodies for sale separate from the game pack then its even better. heck, i bought the imp edition mainly for the horse and pets that no one else can get. so why would begrudge others for their goodies

My opposition to this whole wolfhound issue has been the fact that current subbers have been asking for a dog pet for quite some time, and that it seemed unfair that Zeni would develop a dog pet, and give it to someone else instead. Also, the idea of a subscription model not covering all areas of the game, as Zenimax told us originally.

Given @ZOS_GinaBruno‌'s response to our discussion, and that there will be a dog pet introduced for current players, I will retract my opposition as I said I would.

I choose not to nitpick over a grey dog vs. a brown dog. I've said all along that the issue isn't about a vanity pet, but Zeni's attitude, and in accordance with that I couldn't care less about the colors of these vanity pets.

A loyalty reward system, the idea of exclusive items, a cash shop in general, a pet shop, and a reasonable price for a vanity pet are all, in my opinion, separate issues than the one at hand - and the one at hand is now closed.

The issue is FAIR-PLAY. At the time no was no dog in upgrades. They are selling the same thing but with a new pet. Current subscribers should get automatically. This whole thing makes me wonder 'Why Bother' with pre-orders or collector editions (I bought the physical) when they can repackage again with new perks for new people.

Look at what we have actually been discussing rather then following this train of name calling. Seriously what is wrong with you? There are 19 pages here of people with actual concerns with a few that just want a dog mixed in. Your comments are unhelpful same as doing nothing and simply letting a company take your money for poor service is unhelpful. Look at it this way, the company is new to MMO's they so far have treated it much like a F2P game, we have simply tried to show that for a Subbed mmo to work well, the company MUST appreciate and be loyal to its customers as well. We are fighting for rights and respect from the company as a customer that you should already have and you would call us ALL immature? Just stop....seriously every one of these comments if you want to pay a company without bringing up any issues why did you play in the first place? What do you think the point of a Beta is for? Company's want to know what their player base wants and how we all feel because it helps them to make better decisions for the future and bring content that we all can enjoy. These included content that we want, fixes that we desire, etc etc etc. Yes some don't see the big picture and just want a doggy which honestly that camp has that right, they asked for a dog since the beginning and saw it given to someone else and kept from them, that's not right its rude especially if it was done on purpose with the intent of giving it later for a price. But if you insist on calling someone a name to make yourself feel better the least you can do is not lump everyone on these forums together.

so yea, since an official answer has already been posted.. I want to re-confirm to everyone here that I just wasted the money for re-purchasing the imperial edition on steam... official answer on my ticket:

Thank you for contacting The Elder Scrolls Online Team.

Very nice to meet you and I thank you for your question. The answer to the question however you may not be what you wanted to hear unfortunately. The only way to play The Elder Scrolls Online through Steam on an existing account is by adding the title as a non-Steam game. Players who purchase ESO through Steam will not be able to apply a Steam key to an ESO account that already has an ESO game key redeemed to it.

Meaning for all intents and purposes they are two separate accounts and you cannot transfer between them. I know this is not what you wanted to hear and I am sorry for that. But as of now that is the structure. Please stay tuned to our forums and website for any changes regarding this.

Thank you for your continued interest and support!

Actually I think you're the only one who's resorted to name calling in this thread lately. Good thing I don't take anyone who can't tell the difference between there and their seriously.

Anyone who actually knows how the world works could tell you this thread was never just about the dog. Dogs are awesome. But in this case the lack of available dogs is a symptom of a larger problem.

When did people become complacent. When did we stop fighting for simple things like respect. Those in this thread that have called each other names, that have bullied, or wanted to do nothing. What would it take for you to stand up for yourself? Does it have to reach a point where the subscription fee is doubled? or would you even be ok with that. Not just what would it take for you to quit the game but what would it take for you to love the game enough to actually fight to make it better and be treated fairly? Do not act like you deserve nothing. This issue may not be important to you, but how long will it be before another issues comes up that is?

That's right. If Zenimax thinks that only catering to new players is acceptable, they'll only continue to do things like this. It's never just one thing that pushes people over the edge, but this was the final straw for some people.

It's not really an Imperial Edition Pet. It's a Steam Pet, available when you buy that product.

What if I said I would rather have bought the Steam edition because it comes with two pets instead of one? What if I said that as an imperial preorder customer I feel like I'm getting the shaft because there's a new imperial edition pet that I can never acquire because I bought the original version in good faith months ago?

out of curiousity what game does that?

    Again pure curiosity.

Every game I know of offers grandfathered exclusives (which none of this games exclusives are, you can get the codes to get all the past stuff quite easily in addition to the grey dog) but none offers absolute exclusives for new members.

That isn't to say it hasn't happened I just haven't seen it. Rift tried it and the backlash was so strong they ended up offering it up.

I agree. However, I don't want to overanalyze Gina's use of the word "offering..." maybe it'll be sold for in-game gold? Maybe it'll be put on the cash shop but still given as a reward to Imperial Edition players? Maybe it will only be put on the cash shop for anybody. On principle, I'm fine with this - I just want to have the option. Though of course I'd love to have it simply mailed to me :)

Maybe it'll be put on the cash shop but still given as a reward to Imperial Edition players? Maybe it will only be put on the cash shop for anybody. On principle, I'm fine with this - I just want to have the option. Though of course I'd love to have it simply mailed to me :)

eh i wouldn't even want it mailed and I have no issue with vanity items in the store. I bought the Guar.

But when you pay a sub you expect that there will be at least a healthy amount earned in game.

How fun would it be, for example, to find random events in the world where you feed a dog and then he starts to follow you and become your "pet" it would make you feel a lot more attached then just shelling out 10 or 15 bucks. Opportunities like this are lost when all the cosmetics go to the end game store and is usually justified in free to play or buy to play.

This is pay to play they should be thinking of fun ways to keep people interested in the game for a long time not how much, yet another, pet should be put in the store.

    I WOULD LOVE THIS.

Seriously. Quest rewards in this game suck, since crafted gear trumps any of the gear you get. The only cool quest reward I've seen is the little toy spider from Razak's Wheel, and that's even bugged. I'd love to see more of those (and NOT bugged, please and thank you).

Or, like you mention, random exploration. I love your dog idea. Now I want that XD

Games are just like banks. They totally matter the same amount. That's a good analogy, and you get one (1) Internet.
