I agree. Out of respect for other players, I can't keep my darling clannfear out in crafting stations or buildings, but the dog wouldn't have been a problem at all. Now it seems I'll just be poochless.I'm certainly [snip] at this, 50% price and cooler pet, geez I didn't even get my original pet back after deleting a character on first day, due to them not telling us it was a one time delivery. Got so fed u waiting for CS to deal with it I gave up... and now this !

Well, I can always take my toys and be a new customer somewhere else.
While I seem to be one of the most opposed to this dog pet, I do need to point out that new customers haven't always been getting more than the current one. There's the beta monkey and the preorder scuttler, that a lot of current subs do have. Two exclusive pets we already have, compared to one exclusive pet new people are getting. Comparing new subbers to current subbers who did not have beta/preorder... yes, the more pets thing stands.
But the problem, imho, is that it's a DOG. Arguably the best vanity pet so far (though I know some like the monkey!) and the fact that so many people have been asking for a dog from the start. Creating a desired vanity pet and then giving it to someone else kinda sucks.
Wrong.nerevarine1138 wrote: »You guys all realize that Steam users can't get the Explorer's Pack, right?

Explorer pack codes are still available as well as beta keys.

ZOS could have come out a winner if they had just said:
"Announcing today, we are offering the game for sale through Steam. In celebration of this, we have a new Wolfhound Vanity Pet available. Check your Inbox"
How much cool would that have been? Incentives don't have to be exclusives.

So, you think that people would still be this upset if the pet were given to all owners of the Imperial Edition? I'm pretty sure you're wrong there.MonkeyAssassin24 wrote: »So ZOS virtually eradicates the fps issues that plagued this game for almost 3 weeks, releases the July road ahead letter that brings a very positive reaction from players, mostly, but they release a vanity pet for new customers, albeit an awesome dog, and players lose their minds. Look at it from their point of view, should they greatly entice a wave of new players, or add a new vanity pet to long time subs? One brings new revenue with criticism from current players, and the other would bring only criticism from current players. Come on, if you don't believe that the forums would be just as volatile with people complaining "oh thanks ZOS for giving us a vanity pet, this really makes up for the unplayable Cyrodiil that haunted us for so long", then you are very naive. I think ZOS knows us a little better than we think. They weighed reward as being better than risk because honestly, if a wave of players quit because of a pet, those players were obviously just looking for a reason to quit.
Also if you never thought that the game would become cheaper or go on sale at some point down the road, your an idiot, and if I remember correctly, these new players are not going to be able to choose any race for any faction, which was a pretty damn convenient perk for all of use that joined early.
