Provisioning Revamp

How about some new recipes, rare, that use the rare fish caught for achievements? The Fishing Achievements are broke at present, and I know it's not a priority, but when you do catch a rare fish, it doesn't go to inventory. But if we could keep them, they could be sold to provisionrs to make rare foods to sell to Tamriel..Help the economy, get more people fishing, adds something new to game. Thank you for a great game!
The rare fishes are too rare for food buffs which, historically, always become required for competitive end-game. I don't want to have to farm up a blue fish every day to compete a end game.

Sounds interesting and much more intuitive than the current provisioning system, but honestly you guys REALLY need to fix the FPS issues before doing any more big changes like this… :|

There are few things in MMOs that irritate me more than when whole categories of items which I worked hard to obtain are rendered worthless or significantly so on a wholesale basis.

Gina has stated in both her posts here that they will do everything possible to match new recipes to existing ones and that they will do the same with ingredients. Any logical person can infer that the first of those will also apply to already made foods i.e. if they are matching the recipe, they will match the food/drink it produced.

They've asked for input on what we'd like to see with those ingredients that become superfluous under the new system - so perhaps instead of unconstructive hyperbole you could instead add what you'd like to see done?

As someone with an entire character slot reduced to nothing but a grocer due to the insane number of ingredients, I'd be quite happy if the non-useful items simply exploded in a shower of red sparkles, so long as I can get those 40 or 50 bag slots back and not spend 30-60 minutes or more every day simply changing toons to move ingredients off actives to mules.

I like the new change. After I got to vet zones I haven't done any Provisioning because it's all low leveled stuff that would barely help me. I need vet leveled foods.
You only need a few ingredients, depending on what you make.

For VRs these are located in:
    Rwal Ka, Riften, Alik'r.

    Sorted.

Yeah, I just got to Alik'r and before that I didn't do anything with foods.

    Awesome changes.

For no other reason other than cutting down the ingredients will open some space. Now we carry around tonnes of it, and need alts as warehouses.

And of course, using drinks and food, will affect the whole craft sets & glyphs better.

    Good one ZoS :D

How about fish meals having a positive effect on the newly implemented 'rested state'? Indirectly it has an effect on PvP as well, but since that would be getting you 'into the action' sooner, that might work out rather nicely.

Fix the bugs and loot and VR and Thieves Guild and Dark Brotherhood and class balancing then improve provisioning.

Nothing especially wrong with provisioning how it is, less ingredients would be good but your just dumbing it down and newsflash we don't want it dumbed down. PC players need depth stop pandering to consoles ffs or just stop releasing on PC.

If you make my purple recipe worthless i will do my nut.

If you make rare ingredients i have paid lots of gold for worthless i will do my nut.

Food and drink stacking is a good idea, makes drinks useful. Don't nerf the food, nerf the drink if anything.

We need a clear idea of the exact changes so we can take steps to reduce the amount of loss this will create.

Lower level blue recipes should drop more and blues for all levels.

Purple recipe drop rates could be increased if you add a gold tier above them, not much though they are supposed to be epic.
If real life had a block function i would go out more.

Proud to have spent a year paying to BETA test ESO for consoles.

By having ingredients sourced in clear ways and using combinations of food items instead of tiers of ingredients, we will be able to cut the number of ingredients in half while still providing just as many recipes as we have now (if not more).

This is all I needed to read to be happy, thank you ZoS for listening to the community that there are simply too many ingredients for Provisioning. the other proposed changes are nice too, but this is the best.

The regeneration benefit of drinking will now stack with food benefits

Finally, I always wondered why it didn't stack, it seems natural it should, making both usefull.

And why not have 'inbetween recipes', as in for example ....making a (on itself uneatable)'broth/stock' that serves as an ingredient in a recipe that will be able to be consumed and give stats, or milk made into cheese to be used lateron.

Perhaps the purple recipes could be a combination of a finished food and drink, as combining chicken with wine creating 'coq au vin', giving stats aswell as regeneration in one meal.

Why does meat that can be used in cooking not also fall from the animals we kill, you can't have any fresher!

We’re considering a significant revamp of Provisioning, and we’d like to get your feedback on it.

This needs a poll. Most of the replies below are too convoluted and in case you haven't noticed; people are answering your question with alternate suggestions.

    Please post a poll.

Oh and please address the bugs and game issues first :D

Also; this is another example of giving handouts to people who don't want to do the work; just dumbing the game down for people who *omg can't handle searching crates and boxes and vendoring what they don't need a little more often* Then those of us who have done the work get the shaft because we actually did something and expected a work = gain balance and were happy to do that.

This is going toward a Do nothing = Get everything situation and that is just awful.

To all: All you have to do is click E on everything you do not want at a vendor. You get no gp for the 0 value items, but vendoring is faster than right click/destroy/confirm destroy.

If you "stale" items please don't just reduce those collection effort into "1" gold each.. That would be a insult to those that try to keep those items stored for their crafters. Buildbank space and personal space are on of the biggest restrictions of ESO and therefore it would be a bad punch in the face to those collecters to get ONLY 100gold for a whole stack of items that you spend some time to find.

And please notify us about what you will do "to" the stale items and which one those will be. So that if the price is just a joke we are able to use those items instead of seeing them become totally worthless.

Some of the changes sound decent, not sure about what exactly you are planning for existing recipes, new recipe drops, and existing food and ingredients. I've spent a bit of time gathering a handful of ingredients that are fairly rare, so it would suck to have those lose usefulness or have to start at square one again with different stuff. I've also made stacks of food, sold them/traded them/gifted them to guildies, would hate for those to be "stale" just because you want people to need the new stuff. Anything like that should be converted to the closest new recipe/food type/ingredient and not just made useless or bad to force us away from using what we've already made. You shouldn't screw over people that have been working months at building something because you want to overhaul a system those people have been working in, leaving them on the same foot as someone just starting that has put zero time into something.

    I like the changes suggested.

I respect the choice to make some recipes rare and of course some should be rarer than others. However, as one who has been lucky enough to loot a purple VR5 recipe for both food and beverage, I think these are to rare. Increasing the drop rate of the recipes would reduce the benefit to gold sellers.

I do understand the challenges of keeping rare items rare while still keeping outside influences from reaping such rewards.

Any additional unused basic ingredients from the previous incarnation of the system will be changed to “stale” versions of themselves, and we’d like to include some way to offload them that provides value.

Instead of doing this. For transition, allow the player to convert ingredients to atomic units of each primary category, then use those arbitrary units of meat/vegetable/grain, etc. to trade for new ingredients, based on predetermined exchange rates. This could be facilitated by an NPC "trader", to maintain the in-game immersion/rp aspect.

In reality, something similar could even be done for the recipes. Other MMO's have used this type of mechanism. It's much more graceful than immediately obsoleting things. It gives the player more control over the process.

The way you've proposed is abrupt. Like coming home from work, and suddenly all your furniture has been replaced. It might be nice furniture. And, some people are going to be happy. But, many will be upset. "who moved my cheese?" Literally! :)

It could also have the added benefit of creating an exchange infrastructure that can be leveraged for other things.

I like the ideas. The only other thing I would ask for would be that each area should have it's own special recipes, even when you reach Vet Rank. I was looking forward to finding new recipes in the EP and DC zones when I hit Vet but was soon disappointed to find out that I just kept finding the same recipes and ingredients I had found in the AD zone I began in. My Alt in EP on the other hand has the different recipes for that zone and I have shared what I can with my primary, but it's just not the same.
And the ability to stack them would be awesome and much needed.
Far too many characters to list any more.

I like the idea it sounds like a better system in terms of ease and volume of ingredients but implementing the change over is where the problems could exist. If we craft food or drink before the change what happens to that food or drink, I don't see any information on that in your posts @ZOS_GinaBruno‌

You say the ingredients will go stale and that the existing recipes will convert to something else. What happens to the food an drink that is prepared before the change will it convert to match the new recipe or will it also go stale?

You also mentioned you would have something similar to oats and tomatoes. Will the new rare ingredients only be obtainable from the hireling or will you also have pepper recipes as well so we can craft a rare food without having a hireling or paying large amounts for an ingredient if we don't want a provisioning hireling.

Otherwise I really like the idea of being able to have more in world and logical interaction to get the ingredients rather than the current lucky dip. I also like that the purple recipes drop rate is going to get some attention.

I am very happy to hear that drinks may now be consumed with food. I was wondering why we could not do this to begin with. It makes sense, since usually people will have a drink with their meal. I agree with another poster that alcohol should equal Magicka and tea should equal health.

Please, please, please, do not make purple recipes more rare! They are too rare as it is now.
(I posted this before reading the clarification from Gina. I am happy that the rarity of purple recipes was not intended and that they are going to fix it.)

I do hope that all of the ingredients that I have been collecting will have a little more value than just 1g each. I have one alt that does nothing but hold ingredients for my Provisioning and her bags are full. Having less ingredients is a welcome change for me. Maybe I can actually play her now and level her up!

Provisioning has been my favorite crafting skill in the game and I welcome the proposed changes as long as we provisioners will be properly compensated for the efforts we have put into this skill so far.

It doesn't thrill me much, but in this context endlessly logging in, running around looting crates etc., logging-out, rinse and repeat isn't really 'working hard' in my book.

Provisioning in ESO suffered similarly to most crafting in FFXIV V1 and several other games .. it was far, far, FAR too bloated with different ingredients that simply made the whole thing one long slog and an inventory juggling nightmare: yes, I know ZOS designed limited inventory deliberately but Provisioning on its own was a nightmare, not least because the tooltips gave no idea what crafting tier they were for.

It was convolution for convolution's sake, it wasn't 'hard' it was just horribly tedious.
